Inspired by her personal experience as the mother of a premature baby, singer/songwriter Miss Amy has created a collection of lullabies to share with everyone whose life has been touched by premature birth. Revered as a children's performer, Miss Amy presents age-friendly music for youngsters, such as tunes from her GRAMMY® submitted albums “Underwater” and “Wide Wide World” among other favorites. In her latest CD release "My Precious One", Miss Amy is giving back to March of Dimes, the organization instrumental in the health and well being of her now 10 year-old son.

The March of Dimes' mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Since its inception in 1938 with focuses on funding research to eradicate Polio and later to develop the Iron Lung and correct genetic defects, March of Dimes has turned its attention to an alarming current statistic; every day 1 in 8 babies born in the U. S. arrives too soon. In recent years, almost 500,000 babies are born prematurely each year in the United States, and prematurity has increased by 29% since 1981. Prematurity is the leading killer of babies in their first month of life.

A major breakthrough called surfactant was made possible by March of Dimes that has reduced the number of babies who die from respiratory distress syndrome. Miss Amy is thankful to March of Dimes for this, since her son might not be here today without the availability of surfactant at the time of his birth in 1996.

Miss Amy knows first hand how worrisome a premature birth can be to a parent. As one who shuttled back-and-forth to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for over 3 months where her baby lay in an incubator wired to monitoring devices, Miss Amy composed lullabies to soothe her child. Several of these songs are now available on her "My Precious One" CD.

And, through the sale of her CD, Miss Amy is helping to support March of Dimes to find answers and solutions to this rising national health issue, and help parents and children everywhere.

Today Miss Amy entertains children through her music, having performed at such venues as World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, McCarter Theatre in Princeton, and being a volunteer with the New York-based "Musicians On Call" program to bring smiles to children at hospital bedsides. She has performed fund-raising concerts for March of Dimes and United Way, and served as a Mission Spokesperson for the March of Dimes' Prematurity Campaign.

Miss Amy's 2006 GRAMMY® submitted CD, "My Precious One," is great for relaxing trips in the car, is perfect for settling little ones (or yourself) at bedtime, and it's a musical way to support March of Dimes!
