TCL Institute, LLC Receives Accreditation With Commendation Under New ACCME Standards

Cary, NC (PRWEB) January 17, 2011

Jennifer Spear Smith, PhD, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Melissa Wiles, Vice President of Educational Design and Strategic Alliances, are pleased to announce that TCL Institute, LLC (TCL) has received accreditation with commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as a provider of continuing medical education (CME).

TCL is one of the few medical education companies to receive accreditation with commendation, or Level 3 accreditation status, under the new standards and is among the top 8% of all CME providers in the United States to share this distinction. This places TCL in the top tier of CME providers and among the ranks of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools, hospitals, and professional medical societies.

ACCME-accredited providers certify educational activities for American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award (AMA PRA) Category 1 CreditTM, which is the CME standard for licensing boards and boards of medical specialties to re-license and re-certify physicians.

TCL’s CEO, Dr. Jennifer Spear Smith, PhD, says, “We are excited to have moved from our two-year provisional approval status directly to accreditation with commendation. We realize the additional responsibility this recognition brings and will continue to aim high when it comes to setting new standards for our CME program.”

Melissa Wiles, Vice President of Educational Design and Strategic Alliances, says, “While the TCL CME program has long met ACCME's high standards, to receive accreditation with commendation demonstrates and reinforces our company’s vision to bring the highest quality and evidence - and practice-based medical education interventions to physicians and other health care providers to further improve patient care.”

TCL’s accreditation achievement serves as evidence of its mission to bring the highest quality medical education activities to physicians and other health care providers, with the goal of improving patient care and clinical outcomes for their patients. TCL’s key values include a strong commitment to innovation, education, responsiveness, relationship development, superior service, and integrity.

As evidence to the commitment in quality and innovation in medical education, TCL has been the recipient of the Alliance for CME (ACME) Medical Education Communication Company (MECC) Great Ideas Award for two years in a row. In 2010, the TCL was recognized for E-Case Corner, a highly interactive E-Case format that offers learners opportunities to practice patient interviews, examinations, and diagnostic and management skills via a "virtual patient visit," which leads to improvement in learner competencies and performance. In 2011, TCL was recognized by the ACME for the development and implementation of Complex Cases in Primary Care, an innovative, collaborative, blended-learning initiative that consists of live regional series and enduring E-Cases.

TCL is a full-service medical education company that provides continuing education content development, production, marketing, accreditation, and project management services.
