WorldatWork has recognized several individuals and organizations for their outstanding leadership roles in the total rewards profession. The awards were given today in a ceremony held at the annual WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference and Exhibition at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Wash.

Keystone Award

Helen Darling, President of the Washington, DC-based National Business Group on Health, is the 2009 recipient of the prestigious WorldatWork Keystone Award, the association’s highest honor. Darling heads the Business Group’s Institute on Health Care Costs and Solutions, devoted to finding practical solutions from a business perspective to the nation’s crisis of rapidly rising costs and affordability of care. For several years, she was named one of the “100 Most Powerful People in Health Care” in the United States by Modern Healthcare.

“We have to fix the economy, but we can’t fix the economy unless we fix health care,” Darling said. “It’s not just about getting health insurance to everyone; it’s about getting costs controlled for the employers and the employees.”

2009 Work-Life Innovative Excellence Award

Established in 1996, the Work-Life Innovative Excellence Award is the highest honor bestowed by Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), an entity of WorldatWork, to recognize organizations that have developed outstanding work-life programs.

KPMG’s Team of Choice Initiative is a unique team-based approach to work-life effectiveness used by the audit, tax and advisory firm that teaches members to respect each other’s work-life and career development priorities. A team might agree to a rotating schedule for employees to use the gym during lunch, or for each member to choose a day of the week to leave early. By encouraging KPMG’s professionals to work together to achieve work-life and career satisfaction, the team realizes flexibility while offering the highest level of service to clients.

Pepsi Bottling Group’s HealthyMoney Program is a free program that empowers PBG’s 35,000 employees with the knowledge, tools and confidence to build life-long financial stability. Employees have access to the HealthyMoney Call Center and receive a HealthyMoney Workbook that includes self-assessments, helpful tips and targeted activities to walk employees through key financial decisions and build personalized action plans.

RSM McGladrey’s Coach on Call program offers all 8,000 RSM McGladrey employees free access to work-life coaching services from a professional life coach, no matter where they are located. The discussions are completely confidential, and employees are equipped with action plans and how-to strategies to strengthen working relationships, manage stress, establish a flexible work arrangement, and achieve overall work-life integration.
