Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 15, 2010

Atlanta-based promotional products and corporate apparel distributor, The Icebox, was recently chosen to produce T-shirts for Relay For Life events in Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Hawaii, and California.

An approved vendor for the National Relay For Life program since 2008, The Icebox was chosen as T-shirt vendor for 2010 in the Great Lakes Division (Indiana, Michigan), the High Plains Division (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Hawaii), and the California Division. Relay For Life representatives in each of these states will order T-shirts from The Icebox for events across their regions. Participants and their supporters will wear the shirts at over 1,300 events across these 3 divisions in 2010, with the majority of events taking place during spring and early summer. The Icebox will provide approximately 1 million shirts, or about a third of all the shirts across the more than 5,000 Relay for Life events that will take place nationwide.

“Being chosen as a national T-shirt partner for an event of this magnitude is a tremendous honor,” stated Scott Alterman, co-owner of The Icebox. “We are always appreciative of any large T-shirt programs we secure, but it is extra special to work with a cause that is making an impact. The American Cancer Society is the gold standard when it comes to procurement processes and vendor selection. They are true pros.”

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's largest fundraising event. Relay For Life events across the United States have collected more than $3.5 billion in the fight against cancer since 1985, when one surgeon’s personal efforts to raise money to fight cancer by running and walking with friends spawned an ever increasing number of events around the country, and ultimately, around the world. These events now take place in 21 countries. In 2008, over 5,000 Relay For Life events across the United States raised more than $409 million.

The staff at The Icebox will work with Relay For Life captains on order placement, decoration (http://iceboxonline. com/default. aspx? id=95), and fulfillment (http://iceboxonline. com/default. aspx? id=96). The T-shirts are designed to both uplift and unite Relay participants while also promoting the events taking place across the country. Additionally, the design team at The Icebox will create original back-of-the-shirt artwork promoting individual sponsors of the Relay. Captains will collaborate directly with The Icebox staff to revise and approve this custom sponsor art.

Such work is not new to The Icebox, which carries a strong reputation for community service through its Common Threads division. Common Threads (http://iceboxonline. com/default. aspx? id=103), The Icebox’s philanthropic arm, is dedicated to assisting non-profit organizations with their fundraising events and providing community leadership as part of a current trend toward branded philanthropy. Common Threads integrates philanthropy with business at many levels, from an eco-friendly apparel line and co-branded promotional products—which promote the good works of both the charitable organization and supporting businesses—to front line participation by employees of The Icebox in philanthropic events, including Relay For Life. The Icebox had its own participating team in the Atlanta Relay at Oglethorpe University in April of 2008, raising $10,000 for research and other programs for the American Cancer Society. That year, the Atlanta event raised a total of $200,000.
