Acclaimed best-selling author and world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine, Dr. Andrew Weil has shown an interest in attending as a speaker for Okinawa International Conference on Longevity (OICL) that is set to take place on November 12-13, 2001 in Nago, Okinawa Japan.

Acclaimed best-selling author and world-renowned pioneer in integrative medicine, Dr. Andrew Weil has shown an interest in attending as a speaker for Okinawa International Conference on Longevity (OICL) that is set to take place on November 12-13, 2001 in Nago, Okinawa Japan. The speakers of this conference holds world renowned scientists of gerontological studies as well as the authors of recent popular book, Dr. Bradley & Craig Willcox of Okinawa Program.



At this time, the attendance of Dr. Weil is not certain due to OICLfs budget situation, but Dr. Weil has contacted OICL if it is still available for him to speak at the conference. Right now, OICL is looking for more sponsors in order to invite Dr. Weil and his assistant to attend the First Okinawa International Conference on Longevity. If Dr. Weil attends this conference, it will be more of a strong statement that Okinawa will be the world center of gerenotological studies in the future.

Biography: Dr. Anderw Weil



The recipient of an AB degree in botany from Harvard University and an MD from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Weil has worked for the National Institute of Mental Health and for fifteen years served as a research associate (ethnopharmacology) at the Harvard Botanical Museum. He is the director of the Program in Integrative Medicine and clinical professor of internal medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is also the founder of the Foundation for Integrative Medicine and editor-in-chief of the professional journal Integrative Medicine. As a fellow of the Institute of Current World Affairs, Dr. Weil has traveled extensively throughout the world gathering information about medicinal plants and healing.
