Internet Chatrooms -- The Truth -- on Teen Talk Internet Radio Program Welcome To My Life with Rosemary Travis Fisher and Dr. John Riolog Tuesday, January 31, 2006

Chatting is fun, and meeting new people and making friends over the Internet is a great idea, so long as it doesn't go too far, and you realize why you need to play it safe.

Tuesday - January 31, 2006 - 7 PM PT - 9 PM CT - 10 PM ET -- "Welcome To My Life" is a Teen Health Talk Show hosted by Rosemary Travis Fisher and special host Dr. John Riolo. This week they are planning on talking about The Potential Dangers of Internet Chat Rooms. What you need to be aware of. How you can keep a fun experience just that -- fun and avoid problems.

Chatting is fun, and meeting new people and making friends over the Internet is a great idea, so long as it doesn't go too far, and you realize why you need to play it safe.

The FBI warns that computer-based sex offenders may be any age or sex and that child predators do not always fit the image of a dirty old man in a raincoat.

The Journal of The American Medical Association also published an article that stated:

"Nearly one in five of American youths who surfed the net regularly were the targets of unwanted sexual attention".

That information is very true. In fact on my web site I have listed former physicians that have been caught preying on teens at Internet Chat Room Sites. It appears to be a rather common event these days.

Kids may think that it is cool to sign onto an unmoderated chat room where "The Parents" don't know what is going on. You don't know that person who says he is 16 isn't really 45. You don't know if that photograph they have posted is really them or not. In fact you really don't know anything about them because you don't really know them at all. So take something like the Chat Room that can be fun and heed the advice of those that have gone before you. Avoid Problems. Protect Yourself and never let your guard down. Read the material at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and realize that it is the real deal.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children http://www. ncmec. org/ (http://www. ncmec. org/) writes:

Although children need a certain degree of privacy, they also need parental involvement in their lives. Pedophiles frequent chat rooms and online solicitation produces a great deal of distress for any child.

They also suggest that Teens review the material for Teens at "Don't Believe The Type" at:

Know the Dangers and Situations To Avoid are must reading for Teens that use computers. There are too many children that are harmed or just plain vanish into thin air these days. Many of them unknowingly had become prey to an Internet stalker that had won them with words in an Internet Chat Room.

Feel free to call in and give your opinion on the topic Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at http://highway2health. net (http://highway2health. net).
