War on Obesity Waged in New Haven, CT: Local Studio Takes Front Lines

Health and fitness discussion on women's health issues and practical application of living a healthy lifestyle. Fitness professional reveal information for women to lose weight, improve nutrition habits and lifestyle choices.

New Haven, CT (PRWEB) October 6, 2006

The recent report from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that warned Obesity in America is still on the rise has given local fitness expert Mubarakah Ibrahim ammunition to take the front lines. Through Fit4Life, a weight management support group for women, she will arm Connecticut women with the knowledge and practical application of living a healthy lifestyle.

Ibrahim says she believes that the information about health and fitness is either watered down or so mixed up within marketing industry that people truly do not know how to decipher what is fact from fiction. In addition “The rise of unrealistic “reality” shows in which participants trek up a mountain for 3 hours then get on a scale and lose 20lbs by the end of the 1 hour show, gives people unrealistic ideas of what the journey of weight lose is about,” says this 30-year-old owner of BALANCE fitness.

Real life application of health and fitness principles is what makes her program different. “It’s one thing to know you should eat healthier but how do that when there is errands and work and kids is another thing. Being able to apply heath principles in our everyday lives can make a difference in not only our weight but all aspects of our health.”

Weekly discussion will be about the physical, mental and emotional issue of weight loss. Each meeting participants will leave having learned something and how to apply it to real life. Topics include:

Starting on the right foot: When and How to begin a exercise regimen  Never Diet Again: Nutrition for life  The Change: avoiding weight gain after 40  Strategies for avoiding holiday weight gain  Beating your genetics: Diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure Fit4Life weight management support group will meet for 1 hour every Saturday. Participants will receive a confidential weekly weigh-in and Monthly Body fat and BMI assessment. The group begins Saturday October 14, 2006 from 8:30 a. m. to 9:30 a. m. at BALANCE fitness Studio 363 Whalley Avenue, New Haven CT.
