CoSign Digital Signatures for SAP Allow Smooth Sailing at the Israel Ports Company

The integration of CoSign@ digital signature solution with SAP enables electronic approvals, eliminating paper-based processes and saving the Israel Ports Company time and money.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 7, 2010

ARX Inc., a leading provider of digital signature (http://www. arx. com/digital-signature-cosign) (standard electronic signature) technology, has completed an integration of the CoSign digital signature solution with SAP at the Israel Ports Development & Assets Company Ltd. (IPC). The seamless integration provides the firm with PDF signing capability within their SAP workflow, and marks new breadth for the CoSign solution, which can now be delivered as a SAP service, compliant with SAP’s own ABAP programming language.

The IPC, which is responsible for the development of Israel’s three commercial seaports, uses CoSign digital signatures (http://www. arx. com/products/cosign_faq) for SAP within their Commercial and Purchasing departments to authorize payment requests, thereby automating the final step of their SAP-based workflow. Payment request authorization is a process that requires approvals from multiple parties including the buyers who produce the request, Purchasing and Commercial managers, and others (CFO, CEO, etc.). By automating this process with digital signatures, the IPC gains digitally signed documents that allow for verification of signer identity and intent, and document integrity. With CoSign, the IPC is now saving an abundant amount of time and costs associated with paper-based processes (i. e., paper, printing, ink, routing, etc.).

At the core of this functionality is CoSign SAPI® (http://www. arx. com/documents/SAPI) (Signature API), which ARX tailored to function flawlessly with SAP’s programming language, ABAP. By doing so, the CoSign digital signing capability is used within the SAP interface, and without the necessity for downloading PDFs from SAP, or using any additional third-party technology.

“CoSign digital signatures for SAP met our desire to find a digital signing solution that would work within SAP simply and efficiently,” explained Etty Shtikel-Klein, Logistic and Financial Project Manager, IPC. “It enables us to turn our database records into real, usable documents. We’re very excited about how easy it is to electronically sign our PDFs, and about all the time and hassle we’ve saved. We’re already thinking of other ways we can apply CoSign throughout our organization.”

This implementation was not the first time the IPC turned to ARX for a digital signature solution. Indeed, the organization was already using ARX’s BatchSign, which allows them to employ electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) and distribute large volumes of digitally-signed PDF invoices to remotely-based customers or clients.

“It’s important that we develop ways to meet the new challenges facing organizations as they move towards paperless workflows,” said Gadi Aharoni, CEO, ARX. “We were thrilled when the Israel Ports Company turned to us again, and the success we found is exciting from both sides.”
