American Career College Breaks Ground on New 64,300 Sq. Ft. Medical College

American Career College's New Campus to Offer Quality Healthcare Education, Including Future Plans for an "LVN to RN Bridge" Program in the Inland Empire

Ontario, CA (PRWEB) July 3, 2007

American Career College (ACC) and West Coast University (WCU), which offer Vocational Nursing (VN) and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) educational programs that combine academic and clinical training throughout Southern California, have broken ground on a 64,300 square foot medical training campus in Ontario, located at the corner of Haven Avenue and Inland Empire Blvd. The campus plans to offer more than half a dozen specialized medical programs; and in future phases will offer an Associate Degree in Nursing program through West Coast University, making it one of the first postsecondary schools in the Inland Empire to offer an LVN to RN bridge program. A wall-raising celebration event took place on Thursday, June 28 at 11:00AM.

American Career College and West Coast University currently have campuses in Los Angeles, Orange County and Norco. The Ontario campus will be the largest of the five campuses, and will continue a long tradition of offering quality medical training in Southern California. The Ontario campus is designed to meet the needs of an area where population growth and an explosion of new medical office space are creating a need for additional skilled medical professionals.

"We are responding to Southern California hospital and health care center officials who are telling us they are in the midst of a dramatic shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly in the area of nursing. Through our modern Ontario campus, American Career College is intensifying its training opportunities for individuals in the Inland Empire who are interested in this rewarding profession. Our campus in Norco has done an excellent job of bringing quality healthcare training to this region. The new Ontario campus will serve as a wonderful ACC/WCU expansion and will be one of the first postsecondary colleges in the Inland Empire to offer an LVN to RN bridge program," said David Pyle, President and CEO of American Career College and West Coast University.

Specialized programs offered in the first phase of the new ACC Ontario campus, include medical assisting, pharmacy technician, diagnostic medical sonography, optical dispensing, massage therapy and medical billing. The LVN to RN bridge program is planned for Phase II.

West Coast University's goal is to offer nursing and healthcare professionals the opportunity to earn the highest level degrees in their respective fields. Originally chartered in 1909 as an ophthalmology school, WCU has experienced several incarnations, including being one of the early pioneers in offering Bachelor degree programs designed to meet the needs of working adults in the 1950's. In May of 1997, the University was reorganized and new leadership emerged, refocusing on medical programs that were in demand and most beneficial to working adults.

In early 2005, West Coast University became the second-ever private postsecondary institution in California to be granted approval to offer an ADN bridge program by the Board of Registered Nursing.
