Marblehead, Mass. (PRWEB) September 17, 2006

HCPro, Inc. today announced the formation of the Association for Healthcare Accreditation Professionals (AHAP), a community of specialists in healthcare organizations who manage accreditation and regulatory surveys.

Unveiling of the membership association (www. accreditationprofessional. org) coincides with the National Association for Healthcare Quality’s (NAHQ) 31st Annual Educational Conference, which runs Sept. 17–20 in San Diego, CA.

“HCPro is a recognized leader in offering products and services to assist survey coordinators," said HCPro CEO Bruce Guzowski. "There's no organization dedicated solely to those professionals, so we see an opportunity to create a community and to play a critical role in these professionals’ success."

AHAP offers its members staff training ideas, tips on professional development, and educational information for all types of accreditation. AHAP members receive the current edition of The JCAHO Survey Coordinator's Handbook, HCPro's bestselling 200-plus-page guide. Another benefit is a free subscription to HCPro's twice-monthly staff training e-zine, AHAP Staff Challenge, a source for staff survey-preparation questions and creative training tips.

Members have an opportunity to network with accreditation peers through member publications, task forces, and an annual conference. The first annual AHAP conference is set for May 3-4, 2007, in Las Vegas. Expert faculty will provide information on the most pressing accreditation issues, including the JCAHO's National Patient Safety Goals, top problematic standards, medication management, and accreditation alternatives like CMS and TÜVHS. Details about the conference will be available at www. accreditationprofessional. org and www. hcmarketplace. com.
