"If a drop of prevention is worth a gallon of longevity, then preventative medicine, such as vitamins and minerals, are worth their weight in gold", said Dr. Linus Pauling in 1976. Good advice then and as we look to the future, vitamins and minerals will play an ever-increasing vital role to the well being in every individual. www. mystichealth. org is now providing a great solution to the traditional vitamin.

What are vitamins?

A vitamin may be broadly defined as a substance that is essential for the maintenance of normal metabolic function, but which is not produced in the body and therefore must be consumed from a sources outside the body. They are necessary elements in the process of converting food to energy and in the growth and repair of body tissue reduction of vitamin levels over extended periods can result in vitamin deficiency. These shortages may lead to symptoms, which can include loss of appetite, loss of body weight, increased irritability, and sleeplessness or constant drowsiness. Deficiencies of this nature can be easily be reversed by adequate vitamin intake.

How many of us sit down at home to three complete and balanced meals a day? Very few! Today's eating habits have been heavily influenced by fast-food restaurants, food fads, weight-loss diets and ever increasing use of unfortified convenience foods. Modern processing and preparation techniques often rob foods of vitamin content, as can growth, harvest, and storage conditions. We often come up short. It is up to us to make up the difference with supplements.

Life cannot be sustained without all the essential vitamins.

How important are minerals?

As important as vitamins are, they are useless without minerals. Minerals provide a vital role in nutrition. Although there is rarely much discussion about the benefits they provide, minerals are considered the "unsung" heroes of nutrition. Virtually no nutritional benefit from the various vitamins including antioxidant, fiber, and protein, would be possible without the assistance of one or more key minerals.

There are a number of vital roles that minerals play in the body. It is their non-organic components that initiate the metabolism of protein, carbohydrates, and lipids. In addition to their assistance in the metabolic process, minerals aid the regulation of water and electrolyte balance. Minerals are also pivotal in providing a sound skeleton, and regulating the functions of our muscles and nerves. Minerals are absolutely essential for sustaining good health and life.

What type of vitamin E is in the Antioxidant or the MultiTech formula?

The vitamin E in the MultiTech and the antioxidant formulas is the natural, high activity d, 1-alpha-tocopherol. It has been converted to the acetate form to aid water solubility.

Can Mineral Blast from www. mystichealth. org be substituted for MultiTech or can it be taken at the same time as the MultiTech vitamin?

Mineral Blast should not be substituted for the MultiTech vitamins, as it contains no vitamins. It is suggested that the MultiTech be taken daily. Both products do share some of the same minerals, however. Mineral Blast should be considered a source of trace and ultra-trace minerals. Since it also contains 20 mg of iron per serving, Mineral Blast may create, when used in conjunction with MultiTech, higher than optimum blood iron levels. If blood iron levels (based on a blood chemistry test) are within normal limits (in men and post-menopausal women), then Mineral Blast can be taken every day at 1/2 capful, or every other day at a full capful. In pre-menopausal women, particularly those women who have low blood iron levels, a full serving per day is recommended. Recent research indicates that ingesting large amounts of iron can lead to health problems in men in later years. NOTE: Be sure to consult your pediatrician before giving MultiTech or Mineral Blast to children. Why is there vitamin D3 in the calcium and the MultiTech formulas?

Vitamin D3 has been added to the Calcium Plus and the MultiTech to facilitate the uptake of calcium. Vitamin D3 is initially activated further in the skin in the presence of sunlight and then it is activated further in the kidney and liver. Vitamin D3 is a hormone that can stimulate the production of calcium-binding proteins, which aid in transporting this essential mineral through cells. The 1,25-dihydroxy-vitamin D3 is then transported to critical sites in the body to facilitate calcium uptake. The intestine and bone cells are two of these critical sites. There are groups of people who are not out in the sun for significant lengths of time. Certain racial groups have significant problems in the higher latitudes, especially during the winter, in producing substantial amounts of vitamin D3 and subsequently taking up enough calcium. Even with intense phototherapy for those people requiring significant calcium nutriture, the blood levels of 1,25-OH-vitamin D3 are highly regulated. The daily doses of vitamin D3 are highly regulated. The daily doses of vitamin D3 thought to be toxic are grater than 1000 IU - reports concerning inappropriate calcium deposition in soft tissues occur at 3000-4000 IU/day.
