Prime Clinical Systems' Patient Chart Manager Earns Meaningful Use Certification

Patient Chart Manager from Prime Clinical Systems has been tested and certified under InfoGard's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program. The user-friendly electronic health record is designed to overcome common adoption hurdles -- and help healthcare providers move toward meeting the government's meaningful use requirements.

Pasadena, Calif. (PRWEB) January 7, 2011

Prime Clinical Systems has received the government's requisite stamp of approval and is now officially ready to help medical group practices achieve meaningful use -- and qualify for their share of the government's incentive funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Prime Clinical's Patient Chart Manager software was tested and certified under InfoGard's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program. As such, the EHR software is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

"The certification is another milestone in our company's history that simply confirms what we have known for a long time: We are producing software that truly meets the needs of group practices across the country," says Barry Ardelan, CEO of Prime Clinical Systems. "With this certification, medical groups can confidently implement our software -- and know that they are on the track toward meeting the government's incentive payment requirements."

Prime Clinical has been developing and marketing its software solutions for more than 27 years. During this time, the company has succeeded by focusing on software development and customer service. In fact, Prime Clinical has grown organically to serve more than 10,000 physicians across the country by providing unparalleled practice management, document management and EHR systems backed by attentive customer service.

Although the certification offers the assurance that Prime Clinical is capable of meeting meaningful use requirements, the fact the company has been in business for more than a quarter of a century should give medical practices even more confidence as they embark on the electronic records journey.

"The company is profitable even without any sales - and we don't carry any debt. As a result, we not only offer great software solutions but we also offer a company that will be here for the long haul. We are successful because we know what medical practices want -- and we know how to deliver it," Ardelan says.

Patient Chart Manager, for example, overcomes many adoption hurdles by offering physicians the ability to customize templates to develop individualized patient charts. In addition, clinicians can choose from a variety of input methods. Physicians can select from several options including a keyboard, advanced templating and drop down lists, a stylus that enables handwriting, dictation or voice recognition.

Because all Prime Clinical software is developed in-house, instead of being acquired from other companies, Prime Clinical's solutions share a common central database. As a result, the electronic records system works seamlessly with Intellect, Prime Clinical's powerful practice management and billing system.

"We're making it easy for medical groups to not only jump on the technology bandwagon -- but to realize results quickly," Ardelan says. "With our many years of experience, we know what it takes to help medical practices truly tap into the power of technology."

Autumn Exercise Tips for Thrifty New York City Boomers & Seniors

Autumn Exercise Tips for Thrifty New York City Boomers & Seniors

Past 50 exercise expert says adventurous, economical exercise is easy, if you live in New York City.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 10, 2008

"Don't let low or moderate income discourage you from exercising. Older New Yorkers can get high quality exercise without an expensive gym membership," says Irene Pastore, founder of SeniorFit Personal Training (http://www. seniorfitnyc. com/), in New York City. Abundant exercise opportunities are free, or low-cost, when you live in the Big Apple.

With the cessation of summer humidity and high temperatures, autumn is a great time to get up, and start moving. Here's a list of five exercise tips to help you get started.

1. Transform exercise into an adventure, by combining your trek with a visit to a place of interest. It doesn't cost anything to walk, or jog across the Brooklyn Bridge. You can enjoy the view, the history, or take photographs of this famous landmark.

2. Plan your exercise adventure according to location, affordability, and travel time. The Staten Island Greenbelt Nature Center, is a magnificent urban park of 2,800 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. The admission is free. Anyone over 55 can join their fitness center for $10.00 a year.

3. Exercise with a partner. When you go with like-minded friends, an exercise outing might be more fun, more productive, and provide the motivation to help you stick with your plan.

4. Make exercise a regular habit. Consistent practice is more beneficial than haphazard bouts of physical activity. It takes time, effort, and patience to establish a routine. Eventually your efforts will pay off.

5. Start slowly, and don't overdo it. If you're not used to exercise, begin your cardio program with a short duration of 10 to 15 minutes. Allow several minutes for a gradual warm-up, and a gradual cool-down period at the end.

New York City is famous for accessibility, and convenience. For anyone on a fixed income, adventurous, low-cost exercise is right around-the-corner. "Inactivity is a health risk. The financial costs of illness is burdensome, and the emotional stress may be severe. A daily dose of exercise is an important way to help avoid many types of chronic health problems, including heart disease, falls, and depression," Pastore says.

Irene Pastore is a Specialist in Fitness for Older Adults. Since her career began in 1996, she has helped hundreds of New Yorkers gain a foothold on better health. Pastore is an advocate of healthy aging, and believes that a vigorous old age is possible through physical fitness, and a nutritious diet. Articles about health and fitness for older adults appear on her website. For more information about SeniorFit home-based personal training, visit www. seniorfitnyc. com, or call 212-677-6131.

The UK Biscuits and Cakes Market Increased by an Estimated 3.1% to Reach £2.81bn

The UK Biscuits and Cakes Market Increased by an Estimated 3.1% to Reach £2.81bn

Research and Markets (researchandmarkets. com/reports/c36044) has announced the addition of Biscuits and Cakes Market Report Plus 2006 to their offering.

Dublin (PRWEB) April 26, 2006

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c36044 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c36044)) has announced the addition of Biscuits and Cakes Market Report Plus 2006 to their offering.

This Market Report Plus examines the UK market for biscuits and ambient cakes, which form part of a strong food industry. It is estimated that, in 2005, the total UK biscuits and cakes market was worth £2.81bn at retail selling prices (rsp), a rise of 3.1% on 2004. Since 2001, the market has grown ahead of the food market as a whole, as well as total expenditure on sugar and sweet products.

The two main market sectors are biscuits and cakes. Biscuits have experienced strong activity on the part of suppliers in recent years, and the development of more portable and single-serve, portioned products has given way to a greater concentration on brand development. Indulgence and health have been the top criteria for innovation, with other activity tending to be restricted to brand extension through new flavours and variants.

The cakes sector has also seen strong growth, primarily driven by small cakes and products for individuals. The eat-now market of single-wrapped products has developed, bringing with it a range of new outlets for cakes allowing them to compete head on with sectors such as confectionery and savoury snacks. The development of cross-branding from sectors such as confectionery has also had an impact.

The two main drivers of growth in the biscuits and cakes market are indulgence and health. Premium products targeting the adult market have experienced considerable development to gain higher spending on treats. In addition, a focus on health issues in the food market overall has also benefited sales of better-for-you brands of cakes and biscuits.

Branding is a significant feature of both sectors. Major players in the biscuits sector include United Biscuits, Burton's Foods and Northern Foods, and all of these companies have a strong portfolio of brands and sub-brands. However, smaller brands, such as Bahlsen, are also significant in certain areas. Cake suppliers are led by Manor Bakeries, which supplies the Mr Kipling and Cadbury brands, and suppliers such as Finsbury Food Group and Inter Link Foods offer products targeted at the retailer own-label market. As with other food sectors, niche brands in areas such as organic, free-from and Fairtrade are also making progress.

Both biscuits and cakes enjoy a high level of penetration across UK consumer groups. As a result, growth tends to be driven by higher spending among existing users rather than drawing new buyers into the market. Encouraging consumers to trade up to premium products or opt to pay for reduced-calorie options have added value to the market.

Sales of biscuits and cakes have managed growth in real terms since 2001, and much of this success has been attributable to the flexibility of suppliers in responding to and creating demand for relevant products. This will also be the basis for future growth in the sector. It is forecast that, over the next 5 years (to 2010), the total UK biscuits and cakes market will rise by between 2.1% and 3.1% year on year.

Carolina Regional Cancer Center Receives Affiliate Membership Of The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast And Bowel Project (Nsabp)

Carolina Regional Cancer Center Receives Affiliate Membership Of The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast And Bowel Project (Nsabp)

In a joint announcement, The Medical University of South Carolina’s Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston and Carolina Regional Cancer Center (CRCC) in Myrtle Beach are proud to announce that CRCC has been approved as a satellite member of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP). CRCC affiliate membership was reviewed and accepted through its affiliation with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.

Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) September 17, 2006

The NSABP is a clinical trials cooperative group supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). For almost 50 years, the NSABP has a history of designing and conducting clinical trials that have changed the way breast cancer is treated, and, more recently, prevented. It was the NSABP’s breast cancer studies that led to the establishment of lumpectomy plus radiation over radical mastectomy as the standard surgical treatment for breast cancer.

The NSABP was also the first to demonstrate that adjuvant therapy (additional treatment, usually given after surgery where all detectable disease has been removed, but where there remains a statistical risk of relapse due to occult disease — as is the case with breast cancer where radiation therapy will be given following surgery) could alter the natural history of breast cancer, increasing survival rates, and the first to demonstrate on a large scale the preventive effects of the drugs tamoxifen and raloxifene in breast cancer.

“Our affiliate membership into the NSABP will allow us to provide our patients an additional treatment option of participating in national phase II or phase III cooperative group trials,” said Dr. Steve Bass, CRCC’s medical director. “Our affiliation in March 2006 with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center is beginning to bear fruit so we can better serve our patients.

This will provide area patients the ability to enroll in cutting edge clinical trials investigating new therapies for breast and colorectal cancer right here in Horry County.”

“Surgical Associates of Myrtle Beach is proud to congratulate CRCC and its physicians for this accomplishment which will help raise area cancer care to the academic level,” said Dr. Thomas Polen, FACS and Dr. Mark Borowicz, FACS, of Surgical Associates. “Surgical Associates plans to work closely with CRCC in the coordination and conducting of clinical trials.”

“We plan to work with CRCC in conducting prospective (prior to patient treatment) tumor boards for our cancer patients,” said Dr. Mike Ellis of Associates in Surgery. “These tumor boards will be conducted with other area physicians and specialists from MUSC to provide the best care and treatment options for our patients.”

CRCC and MUSC Hollings Cancer Center are continuing their joint efforts to broaden the local availability of state-of-the-art cancer treatments.

About Carolina Regional Cancer Center

The Center has been providing high quality cancer care for over 25 years. The state of the art center is located at 4708 Oleander Drive, Myrtle Beach, S. C. It is staffed by four physicians; R. Steve Bass, M. D., Clinical Director and past chief resident at the Medical University of South Carolina; Todd Williams, M. D., a clinical assistant professor of radiation oncology at MUSC; Paul G. Goetowski, M. D., associate clinical professor at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and Stephen F. Andrews, D. O., a recent graduate from the prestigious Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Bass also serves on the Hollings Cancer Citizens’ Advisory Board. For additional information regarding CRCC, please see our Web site www. CRCCmd. com.

Multidisciplinary care is provided in disease specific clinics such as thoracic, breast, head & neck, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, neuro, and pediatric cancers. In 2004 the HCC diagnosed and/or treated more than 1,947 new cancer patients, the largest cancer care provider in the state.

The Hollings Cancer Center is the largest academic-based cancer program in South Carolina. The Hollings Cancer Center is currently funded as a developing

National Cancer Institute designated cancer center and has more than $27M in cancer research funding. More than 1,000 people are currently participating on a cancer clinical trial at Hollings.

About the NSABP

Since its beginning, the NSABP has enrolled more than 100,000 women and men in clinical trials in breast and colorectal cancer. The NSABP is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., and has research sites at nearly 1,000 major medical centers, university hospitals, large oncology practice groups, and health maintenance organizations in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Australia, and Ireland. At those sites and their satellites, more than 5,000 physicians, nurses and other medical professionals conduct NSABP treatment and prevention trials. Their presence at local hospitals and medical facilities means that state-of-the-art clinical trials can be provided to patients near their homes.

The Office of the Chairman and the NSABP Operations Center are located on the campus of Allegheny General Hospital, and the group’s Biostatistical Center is at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to funding from the NCI, which the NSABP has received since it began; the NSABP also receives support from other sources from ancillary studies, training, and educational programs. Number of HMOs Drops and Growth Rate Continues to Decline

Number of HMOs Drops and Growth Rate Continues to Decline

(PRWEB) March 31, 2000

For Immediate Release

Contact: Tammy Lauer (tlauer@hmodata. com) or Amy Boese (aboese@hmodata. com)

InterStudy Publications, 800-844-3351

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The number of HMOs dropped to 613 as of July 1, 1999, down from 643 in January 1999, according to the most recent HMO Directory released by InterStudy Publications. The annual growth rate for HMO enrollment also continues to decline, dropping from 7.9% in July 1998 to just 2.6% as of July 1, 1999.

The InterStudy Competitive Edge HMO Directory (version 10.1) is compiled using data collected directly from HMOs through the twice-yearly InterStudy National HMO Census, providing a comprehensive look at the HMO industry as of July 1, 1999. Data collected for the HMO Directory 10.1 shows that HMO enrollment continues to rise, though the annual growth rate has fallen sharply. Total HMO enrollment grew by 2.6% in the first half of 1999, with approximately 81 million persons enrolled in HMOs as of July 1, 1999. This represents an increase of just 2.2 million members since July 1, 1998. The semi-annual growth rate actually declined from January 1, 1999 to July 1, 1999. HMOs lost over half a million enrollees in the first half of 1999, a decrease of 0.6% since January 1, 1999.

The HMO Directory profiles full-service HMOs across the nation, presenting enrollment figures, service areas, addresses and key personnel for each HMO. Enrollment figures are broken down by lines of business, including group/commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and open-ended (point-of-service) products, as well as several other categories. The Directory also chronicles changes in the HMO industry, with extensive listings of mergers and acquisitions, plans no longer doing business, and other consolidations.

The total number of HMOs listed in the InterStudy HMO Directory decreased to 613 plans; down from 643 HMOs in January 1999. Only five new HMOs were added to the HMO Directory 10.1 while 36 plans were removed from the book due to terminations, mergers, acquisitions or consolidations within the industry.

The HMO Directory is used by health care analysts around the country to track competing HMOs and compare HMO growth in various states or regions. The HMO Directory identifies key players in a given state and presents each HMO profile in a consistent manner for easy comparison. It also provides information on changes in providers and enrollment for the past three years to allow for extended comparisons.

Detailed analysis of the trends in HMO enrollment is forthcoming in the HMO Industry Report 10.1, which will be available for purchase in April. The HMO Industry Report will examine HMO growth by product line, provide lists of the top 25 largest and fastest growing HMOs and detail HMO enrollment by state. It will also include an analysis of HMO provider reimbursement methods and data collected through a new survey section devoted to pharmacy expenses, pharmacy utilization and control, and the use of pharmacy benefit management companies (PBMs).

The InterStudy Competitive Edge series is published semi-annually by InterStudy Publications, a publications firm specializing in research and reports for market driven health care. The HMO Directory is the first of a three-part series on HMOs. Part II, The HMO Industry Report, analyzes plan growth and characteristics associated with growth in HMOs. Part III, The Regional Market Analysis, examines market structure and dynamics of metropolitan markets served by HMOs. The complete InterStudy Competitive Edge series (Parts I, II and III) is available from InterStudy for $525 (prepaid). Each book is also sold separately. The HMO Directory and Industry Report are available for $215 each (prepaid) and the Regional Market Analysis is available for $275 (prepaid). Todays Escapes Encourages Members to Stay Work-Free While on Vacation

Todays Escapes Encourages Members to Stay Work-Free While on Vacation

AP9 TodaysEscapes says all work and no play is no good -- Take time off.

Norwalk, Conn. (PRWEB) June 13, 2008

Todays Escapes (http://www. todaysescapes. com) (SM), a travel discount membership program by Adaptive Marketing LLC (http://www. adaptivemarketing. com/ap9/todays-escapes. asp), knows what a grind work can be. And that's why it's crucial to recharge and refresh with some time off, whenever possible.

The proverb, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," has been around for a few thousand years, thanks to an Egyptian sage named Ptahhotep (believed to be the saying's original author, written in about 2400 B. C.). More than 4,000 years later, that friendly advice still applies. In fact, according to a 2007 survey conducted by Robert Half International, a professional staffing and consulting organization, 51 percent of executives said employees are more productive after a vacation than before one.

So the majority of bosses out there think taking time away from work (and staying work-free while on vacation) plays a big part in long-term business success. That's why AP9 TodaysEscapes (http://www. todaysescapes-program. com/TodaysEscapes_ResourceCenter. html) suggests leaving all those work-related worries back at the office:

-- Time has come today. Just like the Los Angeles-based soul group The Chambers Brothers sang back in 1968, " … time has come today. Can't put it off another day …," the same goes for a much-needed vacation. Just remember to consider what the group/division at work is likely to focus on during a possible vacation time. Make sure all the bases are covered before skipping town for a while; nothing will break up vacation fun faster than the sound of a work-related phone call.

-- Cover me. As with most things in life, the "business merry-go-round" rarely -- if ever -- stops. That's why it's important to make sure a trusted colleague is on the case before getaway time. Consider setting up a meeting with the person covering to make sure everything is set.

-- Let it go. Yes, Todays Escapes (http://www. emediawire. com/releases/ap9/todaysescapes/emw489698.htm) understands that it can be tough to leave office matters behind, but try letting go. Get that trustworthy person to cover, leave the laptop and/or BlackBerry at home, and try to relax. Limit any out-of-office participation to the bare essentials; there'll be plenty of work to do post-vacation.

-- Create a recipe for relaxation. The ability to leave office life behind while on vacation depends heavily on preparation. If things are usually very busy, go in early and stay late, long before the vacation is scheduled to begin. Knowing that everything is in order (with plenty of time to spare) will make those first few moments away from the job what they're meant to be -- time off.

Todays Escapes understands that today's work environment demands hard work. That's why taking time off is so important. And as for those other travel needs and vacation ideas down the road, look no further than AP9 TodaysEscapes (http://ap9consumergateway. typepad. com/ap9_weblog/2006/09/ap9_todays_esca. html).

A Cure for Cancer?

A Cure for Cancer?

Clinical tests suggest that ellagic acid may be the most potent way to prevent cancer.

(PRWEB) December 12, 2001

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CONTACT:

Ms. Olivia Lamon

Market-Ability

990, Moraga Road, Suite C

Lafayette, CA 94549

LAFAYETTE, CA -- December 11, 2001: Market-Ability announces its brand new product EllagiMax.

Clinical tests suggest that ellagic acid, a naturally occurring plant phenol with highest concentrations in red raspberries, may be the most potent way to prevent cancer, inhibit the growth of cancer cells and arrest the growth of cancer in persons with a genetic predisposition for the disease.

Cancer cells donÂ’t die or go through natural cell death like normal healthy cells do. Cancer cells divide and continue the process of duplicating mutated cells, without the "signal" to dismantle the old cell. Ellagic Acid doesnÂ’t attack the cancer, it allows the cell to die a natural death, a process called apoptosis, as if it were a normal cell, without harming healthy cells or damaging the immune system.

Clinical tests conducted at Hollings Cancer Institute at the Medical Univ. of South Carolina have shown that when cervical cancer cells were exposed to ellagic acid they experienced normal cell death. Similar results were seen with breast, pancreas, esophageal, skin, colon and prostate cancer cells.

European medical studies also demonstrate that ellagic acid is known to lower the incidence of birth defects, promote wound healing, reduce heart disease, and may reduce or reverse chemically induced liver fibrosis. Ellagic acid has also been known to reverse diabetic symptoms, reduce pain and inflammation, lower blood pressure, balance hormones and increase energy.

Although there are other fruits and nuts with small amounts of ellagic acid, the bioavailability of ellagic acid from these sources has not yet been confirmed. Ellagic acid bioavailability has only been confirmed in red raspberries. Red raspberries have also been used as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-viral agent.

With EllagiMax, customers are guaranteed a product with consistency, ellagic acid content and effectiveness... in each and every bottle. EllagiMax contains nothing but pure, 100% red raspberry extract without added fillers or flow agents.

The product showcase presentation will be held on Monday December 17, 2001 at 990 Moraga Road, Suite C, Lafayette CA 94549. Call for times and reservation. Northern California based Market-Ability, LLC is a joint-venture firm that partners with new product inventors and distributors and markets their products and services through direct response television, radio, catalogs, direct mail and more. Girls in Crisis: GENaustin's Girls Now! Conference to the Rescue

Girls in Crisis: GENaustin's Girls Now! Conference to the Rescue

GENaustin announces its 2nd annual Girls Now! Conference, to be held Saturday, November 14th at The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.

Austin, TX (Vocus) November 11, 2009

The happiness and well being of girls is on the line. Media and celebrities, school pressures, adult expectations and the access of the internet have vastly changed the world of teen girls. They are feeling pressured, bullied and pushed in directions that are causing alarming trends. Statistics show that by the age of 13, 53% of girls are unhappy with their bodies and over half of teenage girls are on diets; 83% of girl’s grades 8-11 have experienced sexual harassment in schools; 1 in 4 girls show symptoms of depression, a rate 50% higher than boys; over 60% of girls are drinking; over 40% of High School girls are having sex; and between 1980 and 2003 there was a 47% increase in female juvenile arrests for violent crimes. The crisis isn’t just sweeping America; it’s sweeping Texas too. Texas has the third highest teen birthrate in the nation, the first highest rate of second births to teen mothers. With such frightening numbers, something has to be done. Parents, educators and girls need tools to help them navigate the crisis. GENaustin is hoping to offer solutions at the 2nd annual Girls Now! Conference this Saturday, November 14th at The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.

Conference, co-hosted by Latinitas and the Ann Richards School, is a one day event packed with expert speakers and dynamic, hands-on workshops designed to explore the issues of Bullying, Body Image and Being a Girl. The featured Keynote Speaker is Alexis Jones, who is an expert on confidence, courage and accomplishment. At only 25 years old she has navigated the beauty industry as a teen model, survived reality TV as a top finalist on "Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites," earned a Masters in Communication from USC, and founded the empowerment company, “i am that girl”, a leader in creating social change, global awareness, and female empowerment for Generation Y. The Conference will also host The American Gladiator champion Ally Davidson during the closing ceremonies.

Americans Are Using Home Hydroponics Gardening To Overcome The Rising Costs Of Energy, Food & Gas

Americans Are Using Home Hydroponics Gardening To Overcome The Rising Costs Of Energy, Food & Gas

As a result of rising fuel costs, an increasing number of Americans are growing fresh, healthy fruits & vegetables at home in their very own hydroponics gardens.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 1, 2008

An increasing number of Americans are turning to home hydroponics gardening to offset high gasoline, petroleum, energy and food prices.

According to hydroponics industry leaders Michael Straumietis, Robert C. Higgins and Gino Yordanov, more and more Americans are growing their very own fresh fruit and vegetables to save money, time and transportation costs.

Straumietis, Higgins and Yordanov are founders of a Seattle-based hydroponics nutrients company called Advanced Nutrients (http://www. advancednutrients. com (http://www. advancednutrients. com)). The company manufactures and distributes a wide range of professional hydroponics products worldwide.

"Americans are sick and tired of paying high gas prices, driving to grocery stores, and paying high food prices too," Michael Straumietis explains. "They're tired of high energy prices. So they're turning to home-based farming, and it's paying off."

According to Advanced Nutrients co-founder Robert C. Higgins, Americans are finding out that hydroponics gardening combines with traditional gardening techniques to produce quality food at a fraction of the cost of buying it from grocery stores.

"You use hydroponics nutrients to pump up the yield, quality and taste of your home crops," he says. "You can grow year-round using outdoor gardens in warmer weather and indoor gardening during winter. That way, you've got a supply of fresh fruits and vegetables 365 days a year. You've also got a fun hobby that the whole family can engage in."

Advanced Nutrients founder Gino Yordanov says the cost of producing vegetables, fruits, and herbs at home is far less than the cost of buying them from commercial producers.

"You don't have to spend several dollars per gallon driving somewhere to buy your food. That's one big benefit," Yordanov explains. "You get total control over the quality of what you eat, because you grow it yourself. You get a higher yield than with regular gardening. And it's a form of self-sufficiency."

Michael Straumietis, Robert C. Higgins and Gino Yordanov are united in their commitment to helping Americans save money on gas, energy, and food prices.

"You're going to see more and more Americans turning to home gardening as a survival tool," Straumietis emphasizes. "Prices for petroleum, food, gasoline and energy are going way up and they'll keep going up. Pretty soon, it's going to be a matter of necessity that you have your own garden so you can ensure a continuous supply of healthy fruits and vegetables for your family."

Crystal™ Deodorant Climbs Aboard the Un-Road Trip

Crystal™ Deodorant Climbs Aboard the Un-Road Trip

Car-less Journey Across the Country Inspires Others to Re-Think Toxins

Burlingame, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2009

Crystal™, the popular safe Un-odorant™ that prevents body odor naturally, is raising its hands in support of an inspiring journey known as the Un-Road Trip. The brainchild of adventurist Boaz Frankel, the Un-Road Trip, is a 10 week criss-cross throughout the United States and Canada using any mode of transportation, with the exception of a car, in effort to promote use of alternative transportation to better the environment.

Frankel has put Crystal to the test for almost two months and more than 10,000 miles into his journey. Whether it's a grueling 50 mile bike trek, dusty camel ride or jarring pogo stick hop across a city, one thing never changes: Boaz always smells fabulous.

"My Crystal Deodorant has been the one constant I count on each day of this journey, "explains Frankel. "While I may not know how I am going to run fast enough to catch the next train four miles away with only a half hour to spare, I do know that Crystal keeps me smelling fresh without harmful chemicals once I arrive."

Crystal™ products contain no aluminum chlorohydrate and are hypoallergenic. Composed of mineral salts which form a topical layer on the skin, Crystal makes it impossible for bacteria to thrive. In effect, Crystal products are the equivalent of "un-odorants" which prevent odor naturally, rather than deodorants that mask the odor.

"As a sponsor of Boaz and his Un-Road Trip, Crystal is supporting an effort that inspires others to care for their environment and their health by omitting unnecessary toxins," says Larry Friedberg, the new Vice President of Marketing at Crystal. "This is the philosophy we have championed with our deodorants for 25 years."

ABOUT THE "UN-ROAD TRIP"

In April of 2009, Boaz Frankel set out on an Un-Road Trip. He's criss-crossing the United States using every mode of transportation except for car. He'll be traversing dozens of states by kayak, bicycle, dog sled, scooter, hot air balloon, horseback, Segway™, hang glider, fishing boat, crop duster, and whatever else he can find. He'll be documenting the whole journey right here, on this website. You'll be able to track him in real-time through daily, (and sometimes hourly), blogs, photos, and videos at http://www. unroadtrip. com (http://www. unroadtrip. com)

ABOUT CRYSTAL

French Transit, Crystal's parent company, was founded in 1984 by Jerry Rosenblatt. The introduction of the company's renowned Crystal Rock deodorant immediately put French Transit on the map as an early innovator of all natural personal care products that were free of harmful chemicals. Since that time the Crystal family has grown to more than 20 products, including Crystal Body Deodorant™ Stick, Crystal Body Deodorant Spray, Crystal Foot Deodorant Spray and the new Crystal essence™ line.

Crystal is committed to developing products that support its customers' desire to protect their health and the planet on which they live. Crystal has not and never will test its products on animals and is a supporter of Leaping Bunny and PETA and donates generously to cancer fighting causes.

Crystal products are available worldwide in over 20,000 stores, as well as online at Amazon. com, Drugstore. com and http://www. thecrystal. com (http://www. thecrystal. com).

A Message of Love to the Nation

A Message of Love to the Nation

America needs to come together as Americans as one family.

(PRWEB) July 4, 2005

Chicago, IL – Phil Mitchell has a message for each person that enters his trolley. “We all need to come together as Americans as one family. We need to pray to come together.” Phil Mitchell puts on a hat and greets passengers as they enter the trolley. “Welcome and enjoy the city” and a warm smile greets each passenger.

Music fills the air and busy Americans make their way across the city. SoldierÂ’s Field stands out as tribute to WWII veterans. Chicago has so much to offer such as a beautiful river, high buildings, and scenic lakefront.

We are all different in some ways but we have some common ties. The older passengers can remember a more loving time in the past and often express this thought. They are concerned. They had a war to help bring people together. They wonder if all they did was not enough. America has always had its challenges especially during the great wars and its first few years. It was people going forward with strength and character that finally set the tone.

Is it a sense of uncaring in society? Mitchell said, “I think so. It is hard for people to think that the government cares when they see rising health care costs, a stagnant economy, and an insurmountable national debt. It is like they know things are not easy to fix. But things are not going to get fixed if people do not pull together.

“One person can not do it alone. People are more concerned about the here and now rather than building a solid future for their children. Chicago rebuilt from a great fire in 1871. People pulled together and they saw a need. People that get on my trolley want to have a fun time. They are not thinking about other passengers. But it is the bond of caring that holds together the people of this nation.

“We need to be more than just free. We need to shine free and we need to be one caring family. America could be so much closer together. I believe God will set a path for this nation. I am just not so sure that everyone will see it or see a need to build a loving society. Life is so much more beautiful when see people pulling together to help a great cause.

“I see a new and bright light shining across this nation. I see a happy George Washington smiling at a peaceful nation reflected by the press. I see God happy at the path that has been laid before us. Asking all to come forward. I see many people pulling together.

“Maybe it is not so, but it is for me. I will never let that spark die. As long as lights can be lit in our hearts and homes, I will never let this spark die. As long as some Americans continue to care, I will never let this spark die. As long as our ancestors look on and ponder what we are doing, I will never let this spark die. As long as we have an opportunity to rebuild and truly love all Americans, I will never let this spark die. This spark shall light the way to a stronger and more hopeful future. This spark shall light a way for our children. This spark shall call out each name and ask, are you proud to be an American? Then, light the path with prayer before you and please help those that try,” Mitchell said.

COBRA Continuing Extension Act of 2010 Model Notices Released

COBRA Continuing Extension Act of 2010 Model Notices Released

The Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration COBRA released the updated Model Notices that reflect the provisions of the Continuing Extension Act of 2010. The law extends various federal programs, including the ARRA subsidy for COBRA premiums.

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2010

Secova Inc., a leading provider of human resource and benefit management services, today released a summary of the updated model notices and the legislation that reflect the provisions signed by President Obama into law on April 15, 2010 extending federal subsidies of COBRA health care premiums through the end of May.

For your general information, please download the COBRA Continuing Extension Act of 2010 (http://www. secova. com/company/news/kcenter. asp) Help Book that we have published to assist companies in understanding the new provisions.

Under H. R. 4851, the "Continuing Extension Act of 2010", the 15-month premium subsidy (65% of COBRA premium) is extended to those individuals who are involuntarily terminated from employment on or before May, 31 2010 under the new legislation. The bill also provides transition relief for those who lost their jobs between March 31st and April 15th.

The new bill extends the COBRA subsidy for those who experienced a qualifying event that is a reduction in hours (occurring anytime on or after 9/1/08) followed by an involuntary termination of employment on or after March 2, 2010, and on or before May 31, 2010.

These changes require employers and other group health plan sponsors, insurers and administrators to act immediately to comply with amended mandates. The extension gives the House and the Senate more time to negotiate and reach a deal on a bill that extends the subsidy to the involuntarily terminated through the end of the year.

Secova is a leading Benefits Management Services company that delivers customized "Value-Sourced" solutions designed to enhance services and reduce operating costs. Secova's mission is to help its clients control and drive down the cost of delivering Human Resources & Employee Benefit Services. GRAYH HAIR MANAGEMENT - HELPING TO IDENTIFY SOLUTIONS

GRAYH HAIR MANAGEMENT - HELPING TO IDENTIFY SOLUTIONS

Gray Hair Management's mission is to help executives find new positions. As part of their networking and career counseling activities, Gray Hair Management also identifies and works to provide solutions to current issues facing executives in transition. They've done just that with an innovative healthcare solution.

(PRWEB) November 21, 2003

Gray Hair Management's mission is to help executives get jobs. Period.

But a funny thing happens when you're helping executives get jobs. You confront issues that affect those in transition and, increasingly, those in the employed population, as well.

The issue is healthcare. Recently, Gray Hair Management surveyed its membership about health care issues and found that even among employed GHM members, only about a third have employer-sponsored insurance. Among the unemployed, 15 percent were without insurance, nearly half were getting their insurance under COBRA and 60 percent are paying more than $300 per month for health coverage.

The population of GHM subscribers are a microcosm of the wider U. S. population. The impact of rising health care costs coupled with a difficult economy and unusually high white-collar unemployment, have stacked the deck. People are looking for ways to reduce the clutter, confusion, and risk.

While GHM has no magic bullet for the national health insurance dilemma, they are beginning to envision a positive health care future through education and the design of flexible health insurance plans. As the health insurance marketplace goes through major restructuring during the years to come, a new alliance between Gray Hair Management and the Erin Group is well positioned to better offer affordable, quality health care products and services.

The days of getting group coverage, solely through employer-sponsored health plans are numbered. Associations offer an effective insurance connection for today’s professionals. GHM members can take advantage of guaranteed–issue and guaranteed-renewable health insurance. The new program offers advantages for the free agent nation we’re becoming.

Scott Kane, managing partner of Gray Hair Management, can discuss the reasons GHM decided to partner with the Erin Group and offer health coverage as a member benefit to GHM members. He can also discuss other current issues in the employment marketplace, particularly as it relates to senior executives. For more information, visit grayhairmanagement. com or call Scott Kane directly at 847-940-2800.

Gentle Pilates Now Offered in Encinitas, CA Area

Gentle Pilates Now Offered in Encinitas, CA Area

Right method of exercise for everyone in any condition. All it takes is practice and persistence.

Encinitas, CA (PRWEB) October 10, 2006

Heidi Lerner, certified Pilates instructor, has begun teaching a new, user friendly approach of exercise to all age groups, from 18 and up. People often think that Pilates might be too much for them, yet everyone is looking for a way to feel better. For those wanting to seriously improve their state of health, a milder approach to fitness can be most appropriate. With Gentle Pilates, students take baby steps in building core strength and becoming more flexible. This method has been so effective for seniors citizens (taught at the Encinitas Senior Center), it is now being opened up for the less seasoned and precautious exercisers.

Workouts can be adapted to what a person is capable of, thus with personalized attention, almost anyone can benefit from Gentle Pilates. It is crucial that students understand and experience correct breathing, form of exercise and core-based movement. This yields unordinary physical strength, stamina, endurance, flexibility, easier or pain free movement, freedom in the joints and better posture. For more about Gentle Pilates, see http://www. pilatesintheflow. com/gentlepilates. htm (http://www. pilatesintheflow. com/gentlepilates. htm).

One student from the Encinitas Senior Center, reports that she had hurt her back in a regular Pilates class, yet after attending Gentle Pilates, her chiropractor was surprised at the stability and flexibility of her back. He commented “Whatever you’re doing now, just keep it up!”. The only thing she did differently was to participate in Heidi’s Gentle Pilates class. Both she and her chiropractor accredit Gentle Pilates for her improvement.

Ms. Lerner is starting to teach Gentle Pilates in the San Dieguito Adult Education Program on Monday mornings from 10:30-11:30 am, as well as Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 pm, for people ages 18 and up. To enroll in these classes, call (760) 753-7073 #3418. Gentle Pilates mat class continues to be taught at the Encinitas Senior Center on Monday mornings from 9-10 am, for people aged 50 and up. To enroll in these classes, call (760) 943-2250. Heidi also provides one-on-one sessions on the Pilates equipment in her studio, giving 100% attention to clients. Heidi Lerner, certified Pilates instructor, teaches Pilates in a way that develops core strength and flexibility in a step by step manner so that it is not too difficult for students. The Gentle Pilates approach has been time tested with senior citizens and is now starting to be taught to all age groups at the San Dieguito Adult School. As Ms. Lerner's students progress gently, they are often surprised at the resulting ease and comfort with which they carry themselves. Under Heidi's "Gentle Pilates" guidance, students deepen body awareness, are moderately physically challenged and even have some fun.

The award honors employers who provide outstanding benefits, work environment, communication and training for their employees.

To be chosen for the 16th annual Top 100 list, companies had to meet a strict set of guidelines determined by a panel of judges consisting of leaders in the human resources field. Some of the criteria judges reviewed for selecting honorees included: health and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401k accounts, childcare, maternity/paternity leave, elder care programs, flextime, employee rewards, internal communications vehicles such as newsletters and Intranets, tuition reimbursement and training programs. Previous winners have included some of the leading employers in Central Florida.

The award marks the first time AssureSign entered the competition and was named to the list. AssureSign and 3PVs' 80 full - and part-time employees share a 13,450-square-foot headquarters and call center in Altamonte Springs, Fla. 3PV has been named to the Top 100 list for three consecutive years.
