Stress Management Seminar Offers Long-Term Stress Relief in the Workplace

An innovative stress management program for workers combines an engaging two-hour stress reduction workshop with ongoing email support to achieve long-term success in coping with stress. More at: http://www. stressholiday. com/stress-workshop

Fairfield, CT (PRWEB) March 14, 2005

If all the stress remedies out there are so effective, why is everyone still stressed out? That's the problem a recently developed stress management program was designed to overcome: the lack of follow-up, the almost inevitable lapsing back into stressful ways.

Created and presented by internationally known author and stress management consultant G. Gaynor McTigue, the innovative program endeavors to rid employees' lives of needless stress, anxiety and clutter in two important phases. The first is a compelling two-hour stress reduction workshop in which McTigue arms participants with a wide array of effective stress management techniques. More than just relieve stress, the strategies are aimed at actually reversing the stressful habits and mindsets workers develop on the job and in other areas of their lives.

Equally important is phase two. To prevent a relapse into stressful habits over time, participants are invited to receive new and refresher stress relief techniques by email each weekday. These daily stress tips, which McTigue currently sends out to thousands of enthusiastic recipients worldwide, provide the needed tools and motivation to stay stress-free.

"Stress in the workplace is at epidemic levels," says McTigue, "and costs in many ways, including poor job performance, mistakes, accidents, absenteeism, higher health insurance premiums, job dissatisfaction, burnout, and high turnover. "My one-two-punch program can be extremely helpful in solving these problems."

This unique stress management approach is based on McTigue's acclaimed book "Why Make Yourself Crazy" — which was featured on the cover of Publishers Weekly, quoted in Woman's Day Magazine and other publications, and discussed on talk shows across America. Free RFID Training Course From Abhisam Software Gets More Popular

Free RFID Training Course From Abhisam Software Gets More Popular

Abhisam Softwares' free RFID technology course gives people a no-cost training program that addresses their needs.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) February 7, 2008

Since its launch about a month ago, Abhisam Softwares' free training course on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has continued to grow in popularity. Week after week, the site http://www. freerfidcourse. com (http://www. freerfidcourse. com) has been attracting thousands of new visitors who are looking for a learning course on RFID technology that's easy to understand and does not come with any restrictions at all on usage.

Abhisam Softwares' free RFID technology course gives these people a no-cost training program that addresses their needs.

RFID technology continues to grow by leaps and bounds and is much more visible now, than in the past few years. In fact, the year 2008, is said to be the "Year of RFID". This technology, which saw rapid adoption in earlier years due to mandates by large organizations like Wal-Mart, Tesco, the US Department of Defense and others, has now finally come into the mainstream on its own. In fact, RFID technology is no longer restricted to only Supply Chain Management, but has also found eager users in many other diverse areas like Health care, Manufacturing, Inventory management, Food traceability, Animal tagging, Libraries, Transportation and even Waste Management. In the year 2008, it is estimated that about $4 billion worth of RFID tags, readers, hardware & software would be bought by various user organizations, to tag trillions of dollars worth of items.

This huge growth, however, is not matched at all by the availability of information to educate interested end users, system implementers and other stakeholders in the RFID area. Most training courses available are either having restricted enrollment, are too expensive or simply require spending time and effort attending classes in out-of town locations. Free courses are rare and if they are found, are mostly text-based periodic e-mails or rehashed vendor presentations.

This is where a free, vendor-neutral, technology focused and easy to learn course on RFID could really help and Abhisam Software seems to be bang on target with the free RFID course. This course is made up of text, rich graphics, Flash animations and interactive exercises that make learning about RFID fun and easy. It introduces the learner to the basics of RFID technology without either being boring or over the top. The learner gets a balanced knowledge related to tags, frequencies, application areas and even issues such as privacy. Unlike some free courses made by other providers, Abhisam Softwares RFID course can be downloaded to the learners PC without any restrictions at all. The course runs in its own player which is provided in the same download package.

The course is really good, with rich graphics and Flash animation videos to explain the concepts. "I really loved it and found it extremely useful to teach my potential customers about RFID technology," says an RFID industry veteran of many years, who has downloaded the course.

Abhisam Software also has a regular learning course on RFID that is much more detailed and comprehensive, as compared to the free RFID course. More information is available at: http://www. abhisam. com (http://www. abhisam. com)

About Abhisam Software: Abhisam Software is a young knowledge based company engaged in providing e-learning courses on various technical subjects, including RFID. In addition to the free course on RFID Basics, Abhisam Software also provides a comprehensive e-learning course on RFID that can be taken online.

FindaDoc. com is a Leader in Innovation in the Health Care Lead Generation Space

FindaDoc. com is a Leader in Innovation in the Health Care Lead Generation Space

FindaDoc. com spins off NEW "FindaDoc International" in response to the Globalization of Health care

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 10, 2009

Findadoc. com Inc. continues to lead the competition in the number of innovations that it brings to the lead generation space within the global health care industry.

FindaDoc. com has a number of firsts:

It was established in 1992 as the first website to provide a portal for patients to physicians and dentists. Before there was WebMD. com, or RevolutionHealth. com or CNN. com, there was FindaDoc. com. FindaDoc was also first in developing a system for rating doctors and their office practice. Using a proprietary algorithm, FindaDoc allots 725,000 physicians a score that helps patients decide on a choice of doctors - 'Rated doctors, Informed choices'. Approximately 100,000 dentists have also been added to the website.

NEW - FindaDoc International: Medical Tourism is a rapidly expanding multi-billion dollar growth Area. In India, Thailand or Singapore, the cost of surgery can be one-tenth that in the US. Over 270,000 medical tourists visited Singapore alone in 2004. The medical tourism industry is currently valued at over $20 billion annually. More than 500,000 US citizens were medical tourists last year. Over 1 million medical tourists visited Hungary and Thailand alone. Cost savings as high as 90% is forcing thousands of US, UK and Canadian patients to seek health care overseas. Thus, there are several thousand reasons to advertise on FindaDoc if you are based overseas. And of course, with the globalization of Health care, FindaDoc offers US hospitals a global reach. FindaDoc is now launching a brand new feature - FindaDoc International - in response to this globalization of Health care.

Soon, FindaDoc will initiate a Healthy Score rating system for Patients. This rating score will be based on simple life-style measures. Also proprietary, it will help to generate visitors to the site.

FindaDoc recently announced yet another feature: FindaDoc Stand-By - this Stand-By Appointments feature helps Dentists and Doctors fill up their cancelled appointment slots by offering discounted rates to patients who accept last minute cancellations. Dentists and doctors are often faced with last minute cancellations and have slots they cannot fill. They can offer these slots at discounted rates in real time, to patients that are willing to go on 'stand-by'. The service is offered free to subscribing dentists and doctors.

Forever on the move - FindaDoc is developing an 'app' for the iPhone. The Detect-a-Doc on Find-a - Doc app, is based on the GPS or zip code location of the search. It will provide the location of all doctors and dentists within a few miles radius, complete with Google maps.

FindaDoc offers a comprehensive healthcare website to physicians, dentists, hospitals and patients with outstanding features for all visitors - the FindaDoc Doctor-Patient Community brings Healthcare providers and Patients together.

About FindaDoc. com:

We are a team of doctors and programmers that created FindaDoc, to make the daunting and sometimes frustrating process of finding the best doctor as simple as possible.

FindaDoc has devised a unique proprietary rating system that helps patients choose from among the 725,000 practicing physicians in the U. S. By rating Doctors on their Training, Expertise, and Patient Opinion, we offer patients a tool that combines verbal recommendations with numerical ratings.

The system is unique - because no other website has it. It is transparent - because the scoring system is based on rules that are fair and openly available. It is also interactive - it allows YOU, the patient, to provide information on details about your doctor that are important to other patients - Bedside Manner, Expertise, Office Staffing, etc. - that directly, and in real time affects the doctor's rating.

Central Washington Hospital Selects PerfectDisk to Save IT Staff Time And Boost Server Performance

Central Washington Hospital Selects PerfectDisk to Save IT Staff Time And Boost Server Performance

Award-winning disk defragmenter beats out competition

Gaithersburg, MD (Vocus) June 19, 2008 -

Raxco Software, the leader in disk defragmentation software (http://www. raxco. com/), announced today that Central Washington Hospital, the major medical facility and referral center for North Central Washington, has selected PerfectDisk® 2008 (http://www. raxco. com/small_medium/small_perfectdisk_professional. cfm) for its disk defragmentation needs on its servers. PerfectDisk was chosen after extensive testing concluded that PerfectDisk performed better in a single pass, had a smaller footprint, and used fewer resources than Diskeeper®.

Prior to deploying PerfectDisk 2008, Central Washington Hospital (http://www. cwhs. com/) only rarely defragmented its servers’ drives due to the fact that it took several days to complete the task with the Windows® built-in defragger. With PerfectDisk 2008, defragmentation is now done automatically, with no staff intervention or time required. With regular defragmentation, the hospital’s database, file and application servers run much more efficiently.

“Now that our servers are being defragmented regularly and automatically with PerfectDisk 2008, they are all performing consistently better,” said Christopher Jones, system administrator at Central Washington Hospital. “All our testing showed that PerfectDisk gave us the best defragmentation results, and importantly, also used fewer resources.”

“We’re extremely pleased that Central Washington Hospital has chosen PerfectDisk 2008 as its disk defragmenter of choice,” said Joe Abusamra, vice president of operations at Raxco Software. “Raxco has a long history of serving the health care community, and Central Washington Hospital’s commitment to quality health care makes it a customer we are very proud of.”

EH&E Launches Affordable Web-based Compliance Support to Help Companies with Laboratories Reduce Risk and Improve Safety

EH&E Launches Affordable Web-based Compliance Support to Help Companies with Laboratories Reduce Risk and Improve Safety

EH&E (www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm), a leading provider of health and safety and engineering consulting services, has introduced an environmental health and safety compliance support site specifically designed for companies containing laboratory space. The site helps reduce risk through better compliance management and direct access to industry experts.

NEWTON, MA (PRWEB) April 24, 2006

EH&E, a leading provider of health and safety and engineering consulting services, has introduced an environmental health and safety compliance support site specifically designed for companies containing laboratory space. The site helps reduce risk through better compliance management and direct access to industry experts.

The affordable knowledge-based solution, “eH&E–LabSupport," enables companies to successfully manage the complex environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance programs, involving federal, state, and local regulations, without a large safety staff.

“When laboratories are a part of a company’s operations, the environmental health and safety program requirements are necessarily complex, and come from a variety of governing sources. Large firms often employ full-time professional staff to manage the program and its requirements. Small and mid-size firms face the same regulatory requirements, but cannot afford the dedicated staff,” said Jack McCarthy, President and co-founder of EH&E.

EH&E–LabSupport provides much of EH&E’s compliance expertise to these smaller organizations through a web-based portal, and in a very affordable way. The solution provides a complete outline of a comprehensive compliance management program, and includes tools, databases and document templates to facilitate easy program development and maintenance. Lab-focused web training programs are available to minimize classroom training requirements. And eH&E–LabSupport additionally provides direct access to EH&E’s experienced team of EH&S professionals and engineers.

A free whitepaper detailing the solution, Environmental Health and Safety Compliance in Laboratory Operations: Common Deficiencies Encountered During Audits, is available for download from: http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm (http://www. eheinc. com/labaudit. htm)

For Masha Ushomirsky, Safety Officer for Peptimmune, a biotech company in Cambridge, Massachusetts, eH&E–LabSupport acts as a virtual assistant.

“The eH&E–LabSupport site is a perfect blend of support functions for my health and safety compliance program,” Ushomirsky said. “It provides a single, easy to use interface for my entire program that is accessible to the company. It is also completely customizable and not rigid like other software programs. I can adapt the templates, data displays and tools to fit my company’s very specialized needs. And perhaps the most valuable aspect to me is the peer support I receive from EH&E. It’s just great to be able to get all my questions answered, no matter how technical, by a single source.”

Microsoft-based, Web-enabled

EH&E–LabSupport is built upon Microsoft® Windows® SharePoint®, a powerful web-based project collaboration tool, thus allowing users to easily customize and integrate the eH&E–LabSupport application with all their Microsoft Office products, including Outlook.

EH&E–Biotech Features:

Document templates for virtually all required documentation, including a Chemical Hygiene Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Biosafety Manual, EH&S Policies Manual and Lockout/Tagout Program and Procedures.  Over 15 databases that can be easily customized, including Chemical Inventory (with 5,000 chemical library), Permit Tracking, Fume Hood and Biosafety Cabinet certifications, Hazardous Waste Manifest Tracking, and Employee Safety Training.  Compliance Calendar pre-populated with a customizable compliance plan.  Auto-notification via email of upcoming deadlines such as permit expirations, and refresher training.  Access via email or phone to expert advice on a wide variety of compliance and health and safety issues.

Options include web-based training modules covering a variety of topics. Each module includes a self-test and completed training is automatically logged in the Training Database.

QuickMedical Launches Medical Equipment Lease Program With Providence Capital

QuickMedical Launches Medical Equipment Lease Program With Providence Capital

The demand for new medical equipment continues to increase among heath care facilities. QuickMedical has recognized the need to offer hospitals, medical clinics, and other health care facilities the option of leasing new medical equipment versus paying cash or long-term high interest rate financing.

Issaquah, WA (PRWEB) March 10, 2010

With the continued fluctuations in interest rates, slowing of the economy, and competition for new patients, a number of hospitals, dental and medical clinics are struggling with reduced cash flow and the dilemma of how to purchase new medical equipment to meet the needs and requests of their patients.

"The healthcare industry continues to remain strong with the increased need for new and updated medical equipment," said Freddy Jalilvand, Sr. Account Executive for Providence Capital Funding. "For many health care facilities, profit margins and cash flow are lower and the cost of providing newer medical equipment is higher. At the request of their customers, QuickMedical made the decision to offer a medical lease program (http://www. quickmedical. com/lease-medical-equipment. html) designed specifically for hospitals, medical clinics and other health care facilities."

One of the fastest growing and most popular ways to finance medical equipment (http://www. quickmedical. com/brewer_company/assist/7500-power-procedure-table. html) is through a lease program. Current data suggests that of the majority of medical equipment sold to a medical practice; at least 50% was leased. Why pay cash for a piece of medical equipment when the business can pay little or nothing down and have the revenue generated by the medical equipment pay for itself?

"A number of medical practices could possibly afford to pay cash for new medical equipment (http://www. quickmedical. com/tower_medical_systems/power_exam_table/md250.html), but the question is why?" said Scott Hanna, CEO of QuickMedical. "A growing hospital, start-up medical clinic, a medical practice with little cash flow, or a practice that has experienced exceptional growth may not have the cash or the desire to tie up money in a large down payment or long-term financial obligation. Leasing is a way to leverage money and invest it in other revenue generating ideas that cannot be financed; or the money can be saved to cover expenses during an economic slowdown."

As a national distributor of medical supplies and equipment since 1993, QuickMedical has been experiencing strong sales and customer growth. By adding new product lines and a new leasing program, QuickMedical can provide additional value to their existing services while meeting ongoing customer requests for new products that will increase distribution channels and help to reduce overall customer cost.

"Our objective with our new lease program is to reach our existing QuickMedical customers who wish to purchase new medical equipment (http://www. quickmedical. com/tuttnauer-large-capacity-manual-medical-autoclave-sterilizer-3870m. html), but do not have the cash and/or the desire to make a large up-front down payment", said Mr. Hanna. "Now that we have added a new line of Gendron Bariatric medical equipment, (http://www. quickmedical. com/gendron-bariatric-equipment. html) a lease program makes perfect sense."

"We believe that with our new lease program a medical practice or health care facility can now obtain the latest in medical equipment and technology (http://www. quickmedical. com/olympicmedical/bili/bassinet. html); lease payments are often lower than payments available through conventional financing. Leasing offers tax benefits and has real cash flow advantages by eliminating the large down payments or cash outlays necessary with other forms of financing or purchase," said Warren Strasen, Vice-President of Sales at QuickMedical.

About QuickMedical:

QuickMedical is a Medical Supply Store offering a large selection of medical equipment and supplies. Established in 1993, they offer over fifteen thousand medical products, many with lease options and free shipping. In addition, they are an authorized distributor for Detecto, Health O Meter, Brewer Medical, Gendron, Clinton Industries, Burton Medical Lighting, Tower Exam Tables, and many others. QuickMedical has a large selection of health and fitness products, medical furniture, medical cabinets, medical casework, medical exam tables, medical lighting, x-ray equipment, and physical therapy products.

About Providence Capital:

The world-renowned relationship therapy expert, co-developer of the popular Gottman Method and the Gottman Institute, Dr. John Gottman, will meet via teleconference with GoodTherapy. org members May 10th, 2010. The early announcement has been made in anticipation of the high interest and turnout for the event, which will doubtless provide key insights for mental health professionals working within the context of human relationships and marriages. The teleconference will also stand to assist couples struggling with their relationship dynamics, an issue which confronts a large percentage of marriages in the United States and around the world.

Anchorage, Alaska (PRWEB) October 23, 2009

Dr. Gottman's status as one of Psychotherapy Networker's Top 10 Most Influential Therapists of the past twenty five years has been earned over the course of a career devoted to investigating the underlying thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in love-based relationships. With his Gottman Institute co-founder and wife Dr. Julie Schwartz Gottman, Dr. John Gottman (http://www. goodtherapy. org/john-gottman-workshop. html) has forged many paths through the wilderness of modern understanding about how marriage counseling (http://www. goodtherapy. org/Marriage-Counseling. html) can make relationships thrive and tick - and what can cause relationships to decay and ultimately fail, as well.

The University of Washington emeritus professor of psychology has long been noted for his prolific work, and he has written and co-authored forty books, including a national bestseller, along with authoring over one hundred ninety academic studies. He has made appearances and given interviews in a wide variety of mainstream and special interest media publications, including Oprah and The New York Times.

Registration for the teleconference with Dr. John Gottman will open on the 1st of December, with additional details and information to be made available at that date. Due to the high demand of Dr. Gottman's lectures, and his widespread appeal to much of the GoodTherapy. org audience, high attendance is expected, and registration should be completed well in advance.

With many months ahead in anticipation of the teleconference event, GoodTherapy. org will continue to provide a full schedule of valuable teleconference events featuring other respected and seasoned mental health professionals.

Employee Performance and Talent Management Technology a Sound Investment in Uncertain Economic Times

Employee Performance and Talent Management Technology a Sound Investment in Uncertain Economic Times

New research study finds numerous management benefits from investments in HR software

Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) May 1, 2008

A new study by Creelman Research asserts that companies who use employee performance and talent management technology can achieve numerous benefits that are especially important during an economic downturn. These include better decision making about their workforce, an improved ability to manage and align organizational and employee goals, and tighter management control. Authored by human capital analyst David Creelman, the report identifies examples of this type of skillful management among customers of Halogen Software, a leading provider of web-based employee performance and talent management software (http://halogensoftware. com/products/).

When a down cycle hits, C-level executives need to recast their thinking from growth to conserving strength. As the economy changes direction, executives want to groom their top performers and drive changed goals throughout their organizations quickly. Traditional, paper-based employee performance and talent management has not been an effective steering tool because it is too slow, but technology has changed this. With technology, executive teams can take a company-wide view of talent, run short performance management cycles or even implement “as needed” changes, driving new goals through the system quickly.

“Infrastructure that helps organizations get the most out of their existing talent is a good investment even in a downturn because of the short payback time,” said David Creelman. “The time it takes to get a solution in place is just one to three months. Real world experience shows over and over how a system can begin providing a return after just two quarters, based on better agility and control.”

Engineering and architecture firm WHPacific uses Halogen technology as a key development process. “It is a tough time in our industry. We have to be careful to provide honest and accurate feedback to the individuals who work for us so we can assess their value to the company,” said Juliana Cobb, corporate counsel at WHPacific. “We don’t use the Halogen system to hammer people down. We use it mostly as a tool to help them climb up the ladder and find how they can become more valuable. It is one of our most important investments.”

“In uncertain times, employee and talent management programs should not be switched off, but how you use your systems may change,” added Creelman. “Your system ought to focus less on reward and more on control. Solutions like those from Halogen can help with decision making about talent, provide a mechanism to quickly drive changes through the company and tighten the reins to more closely manage the company.”

South Dakota Company to Change the Way Wheelchair Users and Their Caregivers Live Each Day

South Dakota Company to Change the Way Wheelchair Users and Their Caregivers Live Each Day

Dignity Medical Device's first product release is a growing line of wheelchairs that allow the occupants of the chair to toilet throughout the day without the need for bodily transfer.

Sioux Falls, SD (PRWEB) September 29, 2009

A South Dakota company is on course to change the way many wheelchair users live each day. Dignity Medical Devices first product release is a growing line of wheelchairs that allow the occupants of the chair to toilet throughout the day without the need for bodily transfer.

"There is perhaps no greater daily infringement on the dignity of a person confined to a wheelchair than requiring assistance in going to the bathroom" says Greg Johnson, co-inventor of the new Dignity Mobility Chair. "Submitting to being bodily transferred from one's wheelchair onto a toilet and then back again is a persistent psychological burden to the disabled and a sometimes crippling physical burden for the user of a wheelchair and the caregiver charged with performing the transfer - whether family member or professional medical staff."

Johnson tells the story: "This all begins with my mother, whose multiple sclerosis had advanced to the point where she needed day-long care to be able to transfer from her wheelchair to the toilet and back again. So, this story quickly became a story about my father as well.

"The simple truth is, as a direct result from her utilizing a Dignity chair, my mom is still living at home and my father has regained valuable freedom to go about his day. The dangers of toilet transfer for my mother and my father have been eliminated with the Dignity chair." With emphasis Johnson adds, "A Dignity chair is not a shower chair. It's not a commode chair. It's a custom built mobility chair that allows the occupant to roll to the bathroom, drop the interior seat, adjust their clothing, back all the way over the toilet, use the facility, roll away from the stool and return to comfortable, day-long living within this chair. There is absolutely nothing like it out there or we wouldn't have gone to these lengths to make this product happen. People can live at home longer. Wheelchair users will fall less. Caregivers will, on the average, be injured less as they work more efficiently and safely. The dollars and cents of it is that in every setting that we've studied, the Dignity mobility chair pays for itself in short order."

South Dakota ingenuity and investors are driving the start of this new company into what they see as a multi-tiered market. Earl Jacobson, current project manager notes, "Our custom built and adjustable wheelchairs allow a wide variety of users -- individuals like Greg's mom wanting to stay longer in their own home, but also residents in assisted living and skilled care facilities, workers wishing to be able to work independently on the job site, wheelchair bound students at school -- to be able to live their lives with greatly increased measures of independence and safety."

While the focus of the company creators was certainly on the safety and dignity issues of the users of wheelchairs, they are quickly realizing that the growing need to provide devices that promote injury prevention is an equally powerful reason to purchase Dignity mobility chairs. "Studies by the American Health Care Association as well as the internationally respected Good Samaritan Society document that back injuries are the number one cause for workman's compensation claims across the care giving spectrum," says Jacobson. "Our mobility chairs cut the number of dangerous lifts in a day to less than half," he adds.

Dignity founders point out that the health care industry is waking up to the staggering personal cost of performing these kinds of daily transfers. Johnson notes, "The new reality is that institutions are going to be increasingly responsible for paying both for the injuries of those who fall during a toilet transfer and the workman's compensation costs associated with caregiver injuries sustained while assisting residents. As the risk to the occupant of the wheelchair and the caregiver is lessened, our confidence grows in knowing that we are contributing to our nation's conversations pertaining to the changes in the quality and delivery of health care."

This September 2009, Dignity mobility chairs have been chosen to be a part of a risk prevention study overseen by the University of South Dakota medical school in partnership with the Good Samaritan Society. The Dignity mobility chair has been cleared for sale by the United States Food and Drug Administration. American Psychiatric Association Slammed by Disease Mongering Parody Featuring Instant Disease Generation Engine

American Psychiatric Association Slammed by Disease Mongering Parody Featuring Instant Disease Generation Engine

Medical specialty frequently associated with over diagnosing and over medicating the American public is the target of a new medical parody website that instantly generates fictional disease names and acronyms.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) March 7, 2007

TUCSON, AZ PRWeb) March 7, 2007 -- The American Psychiatric Association is under fire today by an independent health news site's launch of the "Disease Mongering Engine" - an online tool that allows users to instantly generate disorders, dysfunctions and syndromes that sound real, but aren't.

Available at www. NewsTarget. com, the Disease Mongering Engine was created by Mike Adams, a vocal critic of modern psychiatric medicine and its practice of labeling healthy people with fictitious diseases, then over-medicating them with patented pharmaceuticals.

"Modern psychiatry has lost its way and has now become a marketing branch of Big Pharma," Adams said. "Convincing healthy people that they're diseased, then harming them with unsafe chemical medications, is not a legitimate approach to health and healing." Diseases ranging from ADHD to Social Anxiety Disorder were "invented" by drug companies and psychiatrists, Adams says, as a way to generate billions of dollars in profits by selling treatment drugs and services to people who don't need them.

The Disease Mongering Engine is capable of generating more than 73,000 unique disease names. Disease definitions are also generated using advanced linguistic modeling that results in real-sounding disease explanations using words and phrases found in the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-IV, the "bible" of psychiatric disorders.

In initial testing, the engine randomly generated more than 25 disorders that are actually listed in the DSM-IV and used by psychiatrists to diagnose children and adults.

Humorous disease names generated by the Disease Mongering Engine include Repetitive Erectile Sleepwalking Dysfunction (RESD), Repetitive Manic Identity Syndrome With Anxiety (RMISWA) and Intermittent Dysmorphic Eating Dysfunction With Indigestion (IDEDWI). Users can generate more fictitious diseases at:

Baseball Players Susceptible to Foot Problems

Baseball Players Susceptible to Foot Problems

Like other athletes, baseball players place a lot of demands on their feet. Xenna Corporation CEO C. J. Buck says proper care of feet is critical to both agility and concentration. Whether professional or amateur, athletes no longer need to put up with unsightly toenails or rough, dry hands and feet.

Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) May 24, 2005

Baseball has been "America's Favorite Pastime" since the 1800's, when New Yorker Alexander Cartwright invented the modern baseball field, and members of his New York Knickerbocker Base Ball Club devised the first rules and regulations for the modern game. But it's a demanding, vigorous sport, and players from Little Leaguers to senior citizens need to be cautious about injuries that can result from improper preparation and technique, poorly fitted shoes and other factors such as unseen holes, sticks or stones on the playing field.

Because baseball involves quick starts and stops, even children need to do some stretching and warm-up before getting into the game. In an interview with Foot. com, Oakland A's pitcher Barry Zito said, "I do a lot of stretching, yoga, I ride the bike a lot, even before I pitch to get warmed up."

Parents should be aware of the fact that many adult foot problems have their origin in childhood as the result of a sports injury, and that children often won't complain about pain associated with their sport of choice. Those older than 40, who are diabetic, smoke or have any type of physical disability should see a physician before picking up the sport again. People who already know they have foot problems should see a podiatrist, who can assess the risks involved.

Like other athletes, baseball players place a lot of demands on their feet. In baseball, foot injuries often occur as the result of sliding into base, when the foot or ankle gets caught. Thickened, rough areas or dry, cracked heels another common problem.

Xenna Corporation, based in Princeton, New Jersey (www. xenna. com) distributes podiatrist-recommended foot care products. CEO C. J. Buck says, "In order to perform at their peak, athletes must start with hands and feet that are in great shape and keep them that way. However, because of the demands placed on them, it's common for athletes and those with active lifestyles to develop rough, cracked heels. Xenna's CalleX® Dry Heel Ointment is acid-free and uses natural enzymes to exfoliate, thin and soften thick areas while it moisturizes dry, cracked heels."

The exfoliating enzymes in CalleX Dry Heel Ointment are selective to areas of skin that are thick or flaky. According to podiatrist David Tsui, "CalleX Ointment works very well. I have used it on my patients and on myself. You see a real difference in one week." A gentle rubbing action with a wet, soapy washcloth is sufficient to gradually exfoliate and thin thick, flaky areas of skin.

Toenails also take a beating from sports like baseball. Older players often have toenails that look yellow and brown. According to Buck, "It's common for athletes and those with active lifestyles to see their once clear, healthy-looking nails become yellow, dark or discolored over time."

Xenna's patented NonyX® Nail Gel for yellow, dark or discolored nails is recommended by many podiatrists, and is being used by professional and amateur athletes alike. Buck says, "NonyX Nail Gel is a topical, easy-to-use gel that softens, breaks down and removes yellow, discolored or thick keratin debris buildup under nails - the actual source of nail discoloration. Once keratin debris is removed, NonyX Gel keeps nails looking clear and attractive with regular use."

A recent clinical study confirmed NonyX Nail Gel significantly improves toenail color and clarity by exfoliating yellowing keratin debris from under the nail. To view a recent TV news release on use of NonyX Gel featuring podiatrist Dr. Bret Ribotsky's comments, go to http://easylink. playstream. com/networknewssource/nonyx/nonyx. wvx (http://easylink. playstream. com/networknewssource/nonyx/nonyx. wvx)

Buck says, "Baseball players depend on their hand/eye coordination and jack-rabbit speed to score and catch, and proper care of their feet is critical to both agility and concentration. Whether professional or recreational, athletes no longer need to put up with unsightly toenails or dry, cracked heels and feet."

NonyX Nail Gel can be purchased in the foot care section of Walgreen's, Rite Aid, Longs, Drug Emporium, Brooks and most Medicine Shoppe drugstores. It is also available from podiatric physicians, independent pharmacies and online at www. drugstore. com and www. xenna. com. CalleX Dry Heel Ointment is now available in the foot care section at Longs Drugs, from podiatric physicians and online at www. drugstore. com and www. xenna. com.

Fitness Expert Sheds Light on Why Weight Loss Wishes Rarely Come True

Fitness Expert Sheds Light on Why Weight Loss Wishes Rarely Come True

Personal trainer and sports nutritionist Lynn VanDyke explains why a failed New Years resolution is often the result of wanting too much and doing too little.

Wagontown, PA (PRWEB) January 10, 2006

The New Year’s holiday has come and gone. Weight loss resolutions were made in good faith as the world looked forward to a healthy and fit 2006. Sadly the majority of these weight loss seekers have already abandoned their goal to become thinner and happier.

“It’s true that by the middle or end of January most people have returned to their old habits. They simply feel as though they have failed with their weight loss goals and will do little about their health until it’s time to make next year’s resolutions,” says Lynn VanDyke, personal trainer and creator of the Melt the Fat interactive guide. “Gyms are packed for the first two weeks of January. But the only people in the gym come February 1st are those that were there on October 14th.”

This year can be different for weight loss seekers. Personal trainers agree that stating your New Year’s resolution is a step towards a better body, but there must be more planning and action than most realize. There needs to be a definitive end goal that is both measurable and realistic. Too often weight loss seekers plan their fitness and nutrition program poorly and expect dramatic results to appear quickly.

Weight loss seekers should write down their specific goals. The goals should include completion dates and as many details as possible. The more specific the goal is the better. Once a goal is set weight loss seekers can begin to formulate their plan of action.

“The plan of action is where most of us end up throwing in the towel,” says VanDyke. “Most people do not know the best way to eat or exercise. There is so much information out there that people run in circles trying to figure it all out. The best fitness and nutrition program will be built for each individual. It should be tailored to whatever the specific goal is.”

It is natural for weight loss seekers to find a simple and easy way to achieve fat loss. The problem is most diets are temporary and lead to hunger, fatigue, frustration and eventually the end of the weight loss journey. Following a safe and effective workout and nutrition plan is sensible and will create lasting results.

“We do not have to fall for these scams or fad diets,” says VanDyke. “Talk with your local personal trainer to develop a fitness routine specifically for your goals. If you cannot afford a personal trainer then look into the Melt the Fat Interactive Guide available at http://melt-the-fat. com (http://melt-the-fat. com). The guide helps anyone lose fat by making a complete and total fitness and nutrition program around tangible and finite goals. The point is to start today and not wait for next year’s resolutions.”

New Clinical Data Shows Chromium Picolinate Improves Cognitive Function

New Clinical Data Shows Chromium Picolinate Improves Cognitive Function

Nutrition 21, a leading developer and marketer of chromium-based and omega-3 fish oil-based nutritional supplements, announced the results of a clinical study that showed daily supplementation with 1000 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate improved cognitive function in older adults experiencing early memory decline. The results of the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study were recently presented to the medical community at a neurological meeting.

Purchase, NY (PRWEB) December 13, 2007

Nutrition 21 Inc. (http://www. nutrition21.com), a leading developer and marketer of chromium-based and omega-3 fish oil-based nutritional supplements, today announced the results of a clinical study that showed daily supplementation with 1000 mcg of chromium as chromium picolinate improved cognitive function in older adults experiencing early memory decline. The results of the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study were presented to the medical community at a neurological meeting.

Blood circulation and nutrient flow to the brain decrease as a result of aging, which can affect cognition. Previous studies have shown that chromium picolinate improves insulin sensitivity, which allows glucose, the brain's main "fuel", to be processed more efficiently.

"Impaired glucose metabolism and insulin resistance have been linked to age-related cognitive decline, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. These findings suggest that improving glucose metabolism with chromium picolinate supplementation may enhance cognition," said Robert Krikorian, Ph. D., lead investigator and associate professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. "These results are encouraging and indicate that further study of this intervention is warranted. Ultimately, we may find that chromium supplementation offers benefit to patients, given the prevalence of metabolic disorders and associated cognitive decline in the aging population."

In this study, investigators used Nutrition 21's proprietary chromium picolinate found in Core4Life™ Advanced Memory Formula™, a nutritional supplement specifically formulated to improve brain health. Core4Life Advanced Memory Formula contains a unique combination of chromium picolinate, phosphatidylserine (PS) and DHA. These ingredients all play an important role in helping improve memory and maintain brain health. PS and DHA are major components of healthy brain cell membranes and increase communication between brain cells while chromium picolinate increases glucose metabolism.

"The results of this clinical study support emerging research that shows chromium has direct effects on cognitive function," said James Komorowski, M. S., Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Nutrition 21. "PS and DHA already have established associations with improved cognitive function and we are pleased to see the current findings substantiate the inclusion of chromium picolinate as a key ingredient in Core4Life Advanced Memory Formula."

About the Study

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study measured whether supplementation with chromium picolinate over a 12-week period might improve cognitive function in 21 adults aged 65 years and older with early memory decline. Study participants were asked to learn a list of words presented over several learning trials and, after a delay, were asked to remember the words. Those receiving the chromium picolinate supplement showed a trend for reduced interference from irrelevant words on the memory task (p = 0.12). In addition, on another task assessing fine motor control and speed, the subjects receiving chromium picolinate exhibited enhanced motor speed relative to those receiving placebo (p = 0.16).

Another component of the study measured brain activity. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans were performed while subjects were working on a demanding cognitive task that involved holding in mind and manipulating information. Preliminary results from the fMRI scans of individuals from the chromium picolinate group and from the placebo group showed that the subjects receiving the active supplement exhibited greater activity in left frontal and left parietal cortices, areas of the brain associated with working memory. The subjects receiving placebo showed no such change.

At the completion of the study, chromium to creatinine ratios were significantly elevated in the chromium picolinate group (p = .008) indicating increased levels of chromium in the blood. The groups did not differ significantly with respect to age (73 versus 69 years), educational level (15.7 versus 15 years), stage and extent of memory impairment (Clinical Dementia Rating sum boxes score, 1.0 versus 0.85) or level of mood disturbance (Profile of Mood States total score, 18.4 versus 16.9).

Consona Corporation Attains Gold Certified Partner Status in Microsoft Partner Program

Consona Corporation Attains Gold Certified Partner Status in Microsoft Partner Program

Consona Renews Microsoft Competency in Networking Infrastructure Solutions

Indianapolis, IN (Vocus) July 22, 2008

Consona Corporation (Consona), a leading provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and customer relationship management (CRM) software and services for the enterprise, today announced that it has re-attained Gold Certified Partner status in the Microsoft Partner Program with a competency in Networking Infrastructure Solutions. As a Gold Certified Partner, Consona has demonstrated expertise with Microsoft technologies and a proven ability to meet customers' needs. Microsoft Gold Certified Partners receive a rich set of benefits, including access, training and support, giving them a competitive advantage in the channel.

"We are proud to be recognized by Microsoft in its elite Gold Certified Partner Program, as our work with Microsoft's products and support network have demonstrated to us the exceptional quality of their market-leading platform and development tools," said Steve Bailey, chief technology officer of Consona Corporation. "This distinction attests to Consona's dedication to providing top-of-the-line CRM and ERP solutions to our customers in diverse industries. The accomplishment further accelerates our efforts to help our customers improve processes and customer relationships and become more competitive in their respective markets."

"Customers are looking for partner companies that can bridge the gap between their business demands and technology capabilities," said Allison Watson, corporate vice president of the Worldwide Partner Group at Microsoft Corp. "They need to trust in a company that can act as an expert adviser for their long-term strategic technology plans. Microsoft Gold Certified Partners, which have certified expertise and direct training and support from Microsoft, can build a positive customer experience with our technologies. Today, Microsoft recognizes Consona as a Gold Certified Partner for demonstrating its expertise in providing customer satisfaction using Microsoft products and technology."

As one of the requirements for attaining Gold Certified Partner status, Consona had to declare a Microsoft competency. Microsoft competencies are designed to help differentiate a partner's capabilities with specific Microsoft technologies to customers looking for a particular type of solution. Each competency has a unique set of requirements and benefits, formulated to accurately represent the specific skills and services that partners bring to the technology industry. Within select competencies, there are specializations that focus on specific solution areas that recognize deeper expertise within that competency. Serving as a specialized path to earning those competencies, specializations give direct access to the tools and resources that support that specific area of focus.

Microsoft Gold Certified Partners enrolled in the Networking Infrastructure Solutions competency have proved their expertise in implementing technology solutions based on either the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server operating system, with a particular focus on Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 and Windows Small Business Server 2003. These implementations may include crafting solutions that connect Windows-based servers, PC locations and the Internet; installing a server farm; or building a small-business Windows Server stand-alone solution that includes file and print capabilities.

"We place tremendous value on our partners, which help us deliver solutions and applications to customers," said Watson. "Solutions competencies provide an integrated partnering framework that recognizes an enterprise's expertise and rewards it for the effect it has in the technology marketplace. It also allows companies to demonstrate for customers their knowledge of building solutions based on Microsoft technologies, such as setting up networks using Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Small Business Server 2003."

The Microsoft Partner Program was launched in Oct. 2003 and represents Microsoft's ongoing commitment to the success of partners worldwide. The program offers a single, integrated partnering framework that recognizes partner expertise, rewards the total impact that partners have in the technology marketplace, and delivers more value to help partners' businesses be successful.

LifeSharers Preaches “Golden Rule” During National Donor Sabbath

LifeSharers Preaches “Golden Rule” During National Donor Sabbath

As faith communities throughout the country prepare to observe National Donor Sabbath on November 14-16, an organ donation network called LifeSharers says the “Golden Rule” is the key to increasing the number of organ donors and saving lives.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) November 13, 2003 -

16, an organ donation network called LifeSharers says the “Golden Rule” is the key to increasing the number of organ donors and saving lives.

“When it comes to organ donation, we should all treat others as we want them to treat us. That means anyone who would be willing to accept an organ transplant if they ever needed one should sign an organ donor card,” says David J. Undis, Executive Director of LifeSharers.

LifeSharers is a non-profit network of organ donors that was launched last year to help alleviate the shortage of human organs and tissue needed for transplant operations. That shortage kills over 6,000 Americans every year, and gets larger every day. More than half the people who need an organ transplant in America die before they get one.

LifeSharers members agree to donate their organs and tissue when they die. They direct their donation first to other members of the LifeSharers network (unless no member is a suitable match). By giving fellow members first access to their organs, LifeSharers members reward organ donors and create an incentive for others to become donors.

“Almost everybody agrees that donating your organs when you die is the right thing to do, and almost nobody would refuse an organ transplant if they needed one,” adds Mr. Undis. “But only half of the organs that could be transplanted are actually donated. Most Americans haven’t gotten around to signing a donor card and talking to their family about it. We give people a good reason to take those steps – a better chance to live if you ever need an organ in the future.”

There has been a shortage of organs ever since the first transplant operations, and the shortage is getting worse every year. According to statistics compiled by the United Network for Organ Sharing, over 83,000 Americans are now on a waiting list for an organ transplant, and another name gets added to the list about every 14 minutes. Somebody on the waiting list dies about every 90 minutes.

“LifeSharers members will give our organs to anyone who is willing to do the same for us. We’ll give them to others, too, if no member can use them. We walk and talk the Golden Rule,” says Mr. Undis.

LifeSharers membership is free and open to all at http://www. lifesharers. com (http://www. lifesharers. com). LifeSharers does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical handicap, health status, marital status, or economic status.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL DONOR SABBATH

November 14-16 is the eighth annual National Donor Sabbath. The event was started by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Transplantation to get churches and faith-based organizations involved in activities to increase awareness of the critical need for organs and tissues and the miracle of transplantation. Most religions in the United States support organ and tissue donation as an honored and compassionate expression of generosity and love. More information about the National Donor Sabbath is available at http://www. organdonor. gov/natldonorsabbath2002.htm (http://www. organdonor. gov/natldonorsabbath2002.htm)

ABOUT LIFESHARERS

LifeSharers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit network of organ donors. Membership in LifeSharers is free and open to all. Since its launch on May 22, 2002, LifeSharers has attracted 1,672 members in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Thistle Named First Hotel Group to Achieve Full Hospitality Assured Accreditation

Thistle Named First Hotel Group to Achieve Full Hospitality Assured Accreditation

Thistle has been named as the first hotel group to achieve full Hospitality Assured accreditation, with a quarter of the group's UK hotels achieving 'world class' status.

Uxbridge, London (PRWEB) August 29, 2010

Thistle has announced it is the first hotel group to be acknowledged with full Hospitality Assured accreditation throughout its entire portfolio having surpassed the strict assessment criteria within all of its hotels across the UK, a quarter of which achieving the highly-regarded 'world class' status.

Measuring the quality and service of customer facing businesses specifically within the leisure and tourism industry, the Hospitality Assured accreditation is recognition of the group's high standards across its portfolio of excellently-located properties.

Created by the industry's professional body, the Institute of Hospitality, the Hospitality Assured mark of approval takes into account the unique characteristics of the industry. It is measured by independent, experienced quality assessors who critically analysed each of Thistle's individual properties against ten customer-related steps, including: customer research, operational planning, standards of performance, training, development and customer satisfaction improvement.

These ten steps are broken down into 49 criteria that explored how Thistle's customer experience is devised, implemented, delivered and improved upon. In order to achieve accreditation, each of Thistle's hotels had to score at least 60% overall and a minimum of 50% for each step. The group greatly exceeded this standard, with a quarter of its properties marked with the Institute's exceptional 'world class' grading by achieving a score of 70% or higher.

Ann Corrigan, Managing Director of Hospitality Assured commented: "The Hospitality Assured standard demands high quality standards and strong evidence of customer satisfaction, making it no mean feat for businesses across the industry. Thistle has demonstrated that it's a serious competitor within the hotel sector - setting its sights high, developing its teams accordingly and putting its entire portfolio of hotels completely to the test. The group achieved resounding success and we're delighted to be confidently marking them as a hotel group that offers excellent customer care as standard.

Heiko Figge, Managing Director, Guoman & Thistle Hotels added: "This is an outstanding achievement for Thistle and we are delighted to become the first hotel group to be wholly awarded the Hospitality Assured accreditation.

"As our dedication to our guests is integral to all we do, this is such valuable industry recognition for the group. The accreditation provides us with a great tool to ensure our guests are in very safe hands when they stay with us; they can rely on our consistently high standards. The Institute's approval in this way guarantees our customer-service and care is exceptional every time, throughout all of our UK hotels."

Thistle is currently well underway with its significant refurbishment project, investing £100million to transform its portfolio into modernised, individual properties with a fresh, contemporary look and feel.
