"NicoleÂ’s Choice", a short educational film about STD prevention, has added two gold awards to its impressive list of acclaims. The film took home the Golden Camera Award in the 2004 US International Film and Video Festival in the category of Current Issues in Medicine and Health. It was also awarded gold at the 2004 Health and Science Communication Association (HeSCA) Media Festivals.

Produced and distributed by Select Media, and written by Liz Leibeskind, "NicoleÂ’s Choice" portrays an African-American teen, Nicole, who discovers that she has contracted a sexually transmitted disease through unprotected sex on a one-night stand. As the story progresses Nicole struggles to decide if she should use condoms or abstain from sex altogether in order to prevent future STDs. In the end, Nicole and her boyfriend choose abstinence, while her best friend chooses to practice safer sex by using condoms.

"NicoleÂ’s Choice", which debuted in 2003, was developed for the Making Proud Choices! Curriculum: A Safer-Sex Approach to HIV/STD and Teen Pregnancy Prevention. Making Proud Choices! was identified by the CDC as an intervention proven to increase adolescentsÂ’ skills in negotiating safer-sex behaviors and/or practicing abstinence.

Other awards include the coveted CINE Golden Eagle, the International Health & Medical Media Award (better know as the FREDDIES), and the Silver World Medal in the 46th Annual International Film Video Awards. It was also chosen by the Young Adult Library Services Association of the American Library Association for "Selected Videos or DVDs for Young Adults".
