Santa Barbara Medical Innovations Announces First ZERONA Centers of Excellence

Premier ZERONA Centers Honored for Expertise, Service, and Client Successes Using ZERONA, World’s Leading Non-Invasive Body Contouring Procedure

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2011

Santa Barbara Medical Innovations (SBMI), the exclusive North American distributor of the leading, non-invasive body contouring procedure, Erchonia’s ZERONA®, today announced it has designated Premier ZERONA Centers as the first official ZERONA Centers of Excellence. Premier ZERONA Centers are exemplary for their outstanding expertise and service in administering ZERONA as part of their comprehensive health and wellness programs. Premier ZERONA Centers have already helped thousands of clients improve their health and well-being.

Premier ZERONA Centers have earned the ZERONA Center of Excellence designation by demonstrating a high level of client education and support, incorporating ZERONA as a key component of healthy lifestyle changes and a holistic approach to health, fitness and wellness. In addition, Premier ZERONA Centers meet a high standard of client service and satisfaction following ZERONA treatment protocols.

“We’re thrilled to be honored as the first ZERONA Centers of Excellence,” remarked Giselle Cardillo, chief executive officer and founder of Premier ZERONA Centers. “The facts are backed by FDA clinical trials, physicians and results. It was hard to believe when I first learned about this breakthrough, but when I saw it on my own body and then on our patients, I knew science had changed fat loss forever! We have an average 2-week reduction of over 8 inches with our clients seeing upwards of 38 to 40 inches with additional treatments. By adding ZERONA to our health and wellness programs, we’ve been able to significantly improve our clients’ body shape, self-esteem, and overall health in a short period of time. The rapid visible results give them the motivation to reclaim their body and their health.”

Benefits of ZERONA

ZERONA, one of the world’s safest and most-researched, low-level laser treatment, empowers physicians to help clients enjoy numerous health benefits associated with removing fat and losing inches from their bodies. In a double blind, randomized, placebo controlled study submitted as part of FDA approval process, patients lost an average of 3.64 inches overall, during a two-week period. When combined with a well-rounded health and wellness program, clients can lose an average of 4.1 inches or more.

Recent research suggests that ZERONA may be an effective method of lowering cholesterol. In a recent pilot study, eighty-four percent of study participants demonstrated an overall reduction in total cholesterol serum levels when comparing baseline and study endpoint levels (The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, Nov. 2010).1

Unlike other non-invasive procedures, ZERONA delivers important benefits:

ZERONA is the first non-invasive aesthetic device to receive FDA market clearance in the U. S. for circumferential reduction of the waist, hips, and thighs. ZERONA is the only non-invasive body slimming procedure scientifically proven by Level I research to-date. Clients experience no downtime, pain, bruising, or swelling. ZERONA is the quickest and most effective non-invasive treatment for slimming the waist, hips, and thighs. ZERONA has proven to be a safe alternative to liposuction, and unlike competitive products, it does not kill fat cells, which many doctors believe are necessary for important metabolic functions.

“We’re excited about educating physicians and other health and fitness professionals about the benefits of utilizing ZERONA, the science behind its creation, and its value as part of a well-balanced health and wellness program,” said Vanessa Tormey, vice president of marketing at SBMI. “Throughout 2011 and beyond, we will continue to deepen and expand our marketing support for various ZERONA practice centers throughout North America.”

ZERONA Client Successes

Among Premier ZERONA Centers’ numerous client success stories is 52 year-old Dale Vendramini. Dale lost 11 inches off her waist and hips after using ZERONA as part of Premier ZERONA Centers’ Ultimate Best You Program. “I brought the motivation and Premier gave me the results,” said Vendramini. “I consider Premier my family and partners in a new and improved life. The most exciting part was losing 11 inches from the ZERONA treatment!"

Chris Bleue lost 7.5 inches and 16 pounds using ZERONA during a two-week treatment. “The morning after my fourth treatment I stood in front of the mirror and almost fell over!, said Bleue. “My belly seemed to have melted away over night!” Bleue’s healthy body change was a timely benefit he able to enjoy on the beaches of Cozumel, Mexico.

Michele Fox used ZERONA to lose 8 inches of body circumference over two weeks. Seeing her waistline shrink so quickly gave Michele the motivation to continue improving her health and well-being. “I will never be overweight again, seeing results this fast does amazing things for your motivation! My husband was so impressed with my fat loss he began treatments before I had even finished mine.”

A typical three-week course of treatment with ZERONA costs an average of $2,500 at Premier ZERONA Centers, depending on a client’s specific goals. This cost can become significantly less when buying more than three weeks of treatments. If clients make a $20 donation to a qualifying local women’s charity, they can receive $300 discount on the ZERONA treatment.

Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth While Keeping 'Dental Dollars' In YOUR Pocket

Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth While Keeping 'Dental Dollars' In YOUR Pocket

In this day and age of modern science and technology there should be a way to protect our children from tooth decay and crooked teeth while avoiding the ever-increasing costs and discomfort of dental work and orthodontics.

Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) July 24, 2006

Fluoridated water is certainly not the answer to decay since we don't see which would otherwise be a lack of dentists in communities where this vital, fluoride-laden commodity is pumped to every household under the guise of 'prevention.' Crooked teeth are, on the other hand, simply considered to be due to genes and bad luck, so there is no avoiding that situation... or IS there?

As parents, most of us believe we know how to prevent cavities in our children, but getting them to at least brush properly - even once a day - can be a chore many of us give up on. Those of us who are 'successful' are shocked when dental x-rays reveal a cavity (or several) here and there when we thought we were so diligent with our kids' oral health. This surprise leads to a feeling of hopelessness about the role of children's oral health. Besides, how really important are healthy teeth and gums in the grand scheme of things?

The Answer? Very important.

Science now tells us that good oral health can be the front line of defense against more serious diseases such as diabetes and heart disease later in life.

To help the parent out in all of this, the OraMedia site for Dental Self Sufficiency has released a report (available at no charge) entitled, 'Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth While Keeping 'Dental Dollars' In YOUR Pocket.' While the program itself actually begins with children at birth, parents with a strong interest in their children's oral health can begin when the child is any age and learn how this program will arm them with the tools to carry them long into adulthood.

'Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth...' is a compilation of articles written by Dr. Robert Nara, whose own children were raised with disease-free teeth and gums. According to Tom Cornwell, OraMedia site publisher, "In taking his message of prevention and healing to the public, Dr. Nara ruffled more than a few feathers in the Michigan dental community many years ago. Because of his refusal to back down with his message of prevention and the truth behind dental diseases, they went after his license - and successfully shut him down for over a year."

Fortunately for the public, Dr. Nara fought hard and won. In the meantime, he did a tremendous amount of writing about prevention and natural healing, and this important report is just a small portion of that effort.

'Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth...' is broken into four sections, but the basic theory begins with the first:

1. Protect The Precious: Your Baby's First Year

"When does the decay process start? It is logical to assume that it takes some time before the actual evidence of decay. When your baby is born the mouth is essentially sterile. So the process that leads to decay starts shortly after birth..."

2. The Trying Years: Ages 1 - 4

"Waiting until your child can brush his or her own teeth is too late… by the time the 20 baby teeth have arrived in the mouth over 1/2 of all American Children already have decay."

3. The Transition Years

"The correct efforts on the part of the parents during these years can mean a lifetime of freedom from dental disease. There will be very few adult readers of this article who won't appreciate just how wonderful it would have been to have had such a message themselves and been able to avoid their own lifetime of problems."

4. $aving Orthodontic Dollars

"Except in rare cases, the use of complex, extensive orthodontic appliances is practically eliminated. In all cases, orthodontic care can be greatly simplified and of shorter duration, therefore saving money."

Readers may easily access this report by going to http://mizar5.com/children1.html (http://mizar5.com/children1.html). 'Raising Kids With Healthy Teeth...' is a quick, but informative read. Parents can be making changes for their kids' better oral health immediately.

(PRWEB) January 19, 2006

A new contract for ductwork and systems installation on the north-east and north-west quadrant developments stand extensions at Manchester United has been awarded to Senior Hargreaves. New development work at the ground is extending the stands into the vacant corners, creating new hospitality suites, corporate boxes bars and restaurants with additional kitchens and toilets. Hargreaves was chosen having provided ductwork for the last major stand improvements, five years ago.

The systems installed, include ducted extract and replacement air supply with services routed through air handling units. These include heating and cooling coils, fans, filters, recirculation boxes and heat recovery units. The overall value of the Hargreaves work will be £570,000. Mechanical consulting engineers, Hannan Associates, based in Denton, is responsible for design of the full mechanical, electrical and public health systems and the contract was awarded to Hargreaves by T Jolly Services who are the main mechanical and domestic services contractor.

Filling in the quadrants will increase capacity at Old Trafford from the current 68,000 to 75,000 easing pressure on the club which has capacity crowds at most games. Ventilation with cooling and heating to offset seasonal changes and the effects of high occupancy will ensure comfort at all times in the new areas. In addition to general ventilation, Hargreaves is to supply fire resistant ductwork for kitchen exhaust ventilation and further fire ducts as part of the stairway fire protection scheme.

Stadium work is a speciality for Hargreaves. Besides Manchester United, the company worked on the MEN Arena and Reebok Stadium. They have also worked on several phases of the Wimbledon upgrade and have just completed work at the new Wembley Stadium.

Female ExecÂ’s Shuck Their Skirts and Suits!

Female ExecÂ’s Shuck Their Skirts and Suits!

Trailblazing professional women looking for the rarity that is ‘success in both work and life’ can find the edge at 2004 groundbreaking conference—Camp WorldWIT: Upward Bound. Camp WorldWIT is an exploration of the unconventional life of a professional woman–from competing in a modern business environment to raising a family and everything inbetween. This groundbreaking event will feature sponsors such as Intel, Apple Computers and Crabtree & Evelyn and include very influential speakers.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (PRWEB) March 31, 2004 -

– That’s right…most professional women today find it very difficult to maintain a healthy work/life balance, not to mention walk the fine line between femininity and leadership. For those who seek ways to do so, now is their chance! Camp WorldWIT: Upward Bound, hosted by WorldWIT™ (www. worldwit. org), the global email networking group for women in business, is the only conference that offers workshops on everything from leadership communication to balancing work and family and from financial management in a small business to sunrise yoga—May 20-23, 2004 in southern New Jersey. Today, WorldWIT is proud to announce a conference agenda that includes three tracks designed to address work/life and leadership issues (www. camp. worldwit. org). This groundbreaking Camp is made possible because of support from such sponsors as Apple Computer, Tekserve, Intel® and Crabtree & Evelyn.

WeÂ’ve all heard stories from the menÂ’s golf outing or the all-male weekend at the lake, well this is the chance for the women to get away and make new business contacts while learning about available venture capital funding, leading-edge branding strategies and the latest in WiFi technology while in a relaxed, scenic country setting where they can shuck business suits for shorts. On May 21, campers will be treated to a wonderful "Lifestyle Luncheon" hosted by Apple Computer and Tekserve. Guests will experience products that intersect their professional and personal life like Apple Computer's iLife '04. iLife offers all of the tools you need for your work outside the office. When youÂ’re ready to kick back and create something spectacular, thereÂ’s no better resource than iLife. Tekserve, New YorkÂ’s premiere authorized Apple Computer Reseller and Service Provider, serves creative professionals at all levels, from individual customers to Fortune 100 companies and will be providing demos of all the great iLife products.

The next evening, following an old fashioned country barbecue, guests will get pampered at the Crabtree & Evelyn Spa Night. Camp WorldWIT attendees will be treated to complimentary hand and back massages using Crabtree & Evelyn luxury spa products; select products will be sold to attendees only; and refreshments will be available. As part of the evening, Crabtree and Evelyn Life Coach Lauren Mackler will educate Campers on how to achieve greater life balance by identifying their predominant personality traits while providing useful tips on how to recognize and change those behaviors that might be blocking greater life fulfillment. Guests will leave the Spa Retreat feeling invigorated!

Campers can take a break from the information-packed workshops and spend some time in the open air of the Appel Farm Pavilion. Intel experts will be there to give a hands-on demonstration of laptops based on Intel® CentrinoTM mobile technology. Campers will see first hand how wireless technology can help balance their personal and professional life! Today, most computer and consumer electronic devices require wires to record, play or exchange data. The Intel Mobile Experience Zone eliminates these wires, allowing people to "unwire" their lives in new and unexpected ways. Guests can ‘Live the Unwired Life with Intel’ at Camp WorldWIT and see how Intel® Centrino mobile technology is changing the way people live and work all over the world. While there, guests may also register to win a laptop PC!

The site of the conference, Appel Farm Arts and Music Center (www. appelfarm. com), is a summer camp for kids located just 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia. Fittingly, conference attendees will stay in cabins and eat together in an informal “mess hall.” Instead of business suits, shorts and t-shirts will be the conference “uniform.”

“This camp is a complete departure from most business learning or networking events, which are usually very ‘corporate’ in atmosphere. The truth is that people learn best in a relaxed environment, and Appel Farm offers that,” says Liz Ryan, WorldWIT Founder and CEO, who attended Appel Farm Arts and Music Camp herself as a child. “This is going to be three days of intensive learning and networking in a serene setting, where women can focus on their business and personal development without worrying about skirts and suits.”

Among many influential speakers, the Camp program includes keynote Kat Carney, CNN Headline News Health Anchor. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such an empowering event,” says Carney. “I too share the WorldWIT mission—to support and enable all women to reach their career and personal goals. Liz Ryan has created a working woman’s phenomenon,” Carney concludes.

The conference tracks will be ‘Professional’, which will feature sessions spanning diversity, communication, international travel, security and corporate culture; ‘Entrepreneurial’, which will offer topics such as branding, competing, negotiating, prospecting and intellectual property; and ‘Creativity and Wellness’, which will include topics such as balance, personal growth, emotional intelligence, creativity, art and yoga. Conference participants can attend sessions in all three tracks, matching sessions with their individual needs and interests. For the full agenda, visit www. camp. worldwit. org.

In addition to a comprehensive program based on the WorldWIT memberÂ’s feedback, the keynote sessions will be presented by four of the most dynamic women in business and politics today: Edie Weiner, President Weiner, Edrich, Brown Inc., Rosalyn Wesley, Human Resources Director, Fortune Brands, Ann Sullivan, of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and the aforementioned CNN Headline News Health Anchor, Kat Carney.

“Camp WorldWIT is for professional women interested in bettering themselves through expanding their knowledge, increasing their creative capacity, and sharing key insights with amazing women from around the world,” says Edie Weiner, President Weiner, Edrich, Brown Inc. “I am delighted to be a part of this groundbreaking event focused entirely on the success of women and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to meet these exceptional women and members of the WorldWIT community from around the globe,” Weiner concludes.

Tuition for the four-day, three-night Camp WorldWIT: Upward Bound will include all meals and accommodations. Those interested can register for $695. The pre-registration fee will increase on April 9. Group Discounts and Day Rates are available.

For more information on sponsorships or to register visit www. camp. worldwit. org, or contact Beth McClure at 818.516.4215 or bethm@worldwit. org.

Social Media Marketing Team Launches SeriousSocialMedia. com and Free Classes for Small Business Owners Nationwide

Social Media Marketing Team Launches SeriousSocialMedia. com and Free Classes for Small Business Owners Nationwide

SeriousSocialMedia. com has launched a nationwide campaign and free online and live classes for small business owners. Based near St. Louis, Missouri, the S2M2 Team assists small business owners with comprehensive social media marketing services and SEO options. The free classes are offered as webinars for business owners nationwide and at live events locally in St. Louis, all are welcome.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 17, 2009

Expert online marketer Valerie VanBooven has been helping small business owners in the health care field dominate the first page of Google. com for over a year without using Pay-Per-Click.

She does it all naturally.

After serving over 150 clients nationwide in that health care niche in just a short time, Valerie and her team decided to expand services, offering social media marketing (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com), SEO (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com) and website services (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com) to any small business owner.

"It doesn't matter what product or service a business owner provides. If there is a demand, there is a market. If there is a market, we can generate activity for them, it's that simple", states VanBooven.

However, social media marketing (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com) and search engine optimization (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com) strategies really aren't that simple. There is a formula that Valerie and her team use to help clients reach their goals. There is also a "right way" to handle social media marketing, and a wrong way.

"We teach our clients about "triangulation", "transparency", and "participation". Those are the keys to success.", states VanBooven.

SeriousSocialMedia. com (http://www. serioussocialmedia. com) is also aware of competition in the marketplace.

"What we know is that with our model we do three times the work at a third of the price. Compare any competitor to our pricing and service structure, and you will find there is no better deal", Valerie comments.

When it comes to finding a professional organization that understands the needs of the small business owner, nothing compares to the team at SeriousSocialMedia. com. Valerie VanBooven has been a small business owner for over 10 years. Valerie has been a regular guest on NBC's Today Show for their "Forever Young: A Guide to Life After 50" segments.

She has also appeared on CNNFN's Your Money with Ali Velshi, and has been interviewed in numerous publications including Time Magazine and various AP articles. In 2007, Valerie published her second book, “The Senior Solution: A Family Guide to Keeping Seniors Home for Life!”

Museum Tour Introduces 2004–05 Issue

Museum Tour Introduces 2004–05 Issue

Museum TourÂ’s products motivate children to pursue careers in science, math, and engineering, provide educators with unique teaching tools and compelling teaching experiences, and bring the entire family together for exploration and discovery.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) September 10, 2004

Museum Tour Catalog launches its ninth annual issue. Founded by a former museum director in conjunction with 22 museums nationwide, Museum TourÂ’s goal since its inception is to assist in the financial growth of its museum members. To date, donations total over $125,000.

What Sets This Catalog Apart?

Cataloger Aids Museums Nationwide

The fiscal health of museums depends on donors contributing general operating support. This type of financial support is often overlooked. Museum TourÂ’s president, Marilynne Eichinger, experienced this need firsthand in her former position as a museum president. To address that need, she instituted the museum membership program at Museum Tour and developed the catalog to bring hands-on museum activities into homes around the country.

Museum Tour Catalog continues to grow through difficult economic times and continues to assist its museum members annually with financial aid. Museum members also benefit from the nationwide exposure from the catalog mailings to relevant consumers and educators across the U. S. (The complete list of museum members is on the back cover of every issue of Museum Tour.)

An Educational Approach to Fun

"Museum Tour’s products motivate children to pursue careers in science, math, and engineering, provide educators with unique teaching tools and compelling teaching experiences, and bring the entire family together for exploration and discovery. We differ from other catalogs in that we espouse ‘side by side’ opportunities that bring adults and children together as detectives and practitioners of learning," said Eichinger.

Some of Museum TourÂ’s side-by-side tools include adult and child pottery wheels, rock tumblers, looms, metal detectors, junior and senior board games and beginner and advanced language CDs. This year the catalog also found unique items to explore family heritage. And for the first time, Museum Tour offers linguistic selections for language development. Anyone searching for eco-friendly fun or community projects will find the expanded environmental, health and outdoor sections in this issue to be a natural resource. (Several of the 2004-05 products are also available in Spanish.)

The Case Method

Placing the "Aha" in Education and the "Hmm" in Play

Solving problems is largely what life is about. When there are no challenges, people tend to be bored and often look for new avenues to explore. Imagine the excitement of having an "Aha" realization from self-directed exploration or piqued interest that leads to many "Hmm" moments?

Investigation is at its peak with science activities. Engineering and scientific inventions are usually the result of detectives using tools and techniques for exploring the unknown. Museum Tour‘s science kits bring out the "Aha" experience that encourages the user to take the inventor’s path and develop the skills and motivation needed to further inquiry. The "Aha" and "Hmm" books available in this issue inspire a young person to think of life as a series of challenges, explorations, and solutions that are exciting and fun to realize. Education arenas refer to this as the "case method."

Many education programs now use the case method to teach. This system puts the learner in the driverÂ’s seat by presenting challenging problems that need solving. In one sense, the child becomes a detective having to form hypotheses, conduct research, look for clues, and come to conclusions. Once interest is piqued, a child is willing to learn the facts and sits still for skill training. The question we should always ask is what is the best way to motivate children and adults to this end?

To quote Anatole France:

"Do not try to satisfy your vanity by teaching a great many things. Awaken peopleÂ’s curiosity. It is enough to open minds; do not overload them. Put there just a spark. If there is some good inflammable stuff, it will catch fire."

Dr. Alan Bauman Returns to HSN May 25th to Discuss the First At-Home Phototherapy Device for Crow’s Feet, “Omnilux New-U”

Dr. Alan Bauman Returns to HSN May 25th to Discuss the First At-Home Phototherapy Device for Crow’s Feet, “Omnilux New-U”

For the first time, the FDA has cleared an LED phototherapy device to treat periorbital wrinkles, a. k.a. "crow's feet."

Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) May 21, 2010

Internationally recognized cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Alan J. Bauman, founder of the Bauman Medical Group, returns to the Home Shopping Network (HSN) Tuesday, May 25th for his second appearance discussing the “Omnilux New-U,” the first portable FDA cleared LED phototherapy treatment for crow’s feet specifically designed for at home use. Since founding his medical practice in 1997, Dr. Bauman has been at the forefront of introducing the most advanced technology, medical processes and procedures to thousands of patients from around the world, and the medical profession at large.  A pioneer of procedures such as eyelash transplantation, no-scalpel/no-stitch NeoGraft-FUE hair transplants and low level laser therapy treatments, Dr. Bauman is not only one of the first U. S. surgeons to implement the Omnilux New U into his practice, but he is also the spokesperson for “Omnilux New-U,” a product that represents an extraordinary breakthrough in technology to help people suffering from wrinkles around the eyes--one of the most common signs of aging.

“Not only has this LED device been clinically demonstrated to be effective at treating periorbital wrinkles (a. k.a. crow’s feet), but phototherapy has also proven beneficial for treating sun-damaged skin, acne and blotches,” says Bauman, who, along with the successes of many of his patients has been featured extensively both nationally and internationally in newspapers, magazines and television shows, such as CBS Early Show, NBC Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, Good Morning America and Dateline NBC. “As one of the first U. S. physicians to routinely use phototherapy technology with patients, I am excited by the results patients can obtain from this wonderful new consumer-friendly at home device,” says Bauman, who is a member of the Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine as well as the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.

“Small, lightweight and portable, the Omnilux New-U hand-held device is the first consumer-friendly version of the professional-grade clinical units,” says Dr. Bauman, “and priced at $199, it is remarkably affordable for such an advanced machine cleared by the FDA to reduce wrinkles, it is really an amazing device.” Bauman points out that results can be seen in as little as four weeks, with continued improvements over time.

The Omnilux New-U LED hand-held device (M. D. Version) complies with all U. S. and international product safety standards. According to information provided in the FDA study, the use of Omnilux LED phototherapy for 20 minutes, twice a week, has been shown in clinical trials to dramatically reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area, improve skin tone, skin hydration, smoothness and firmness. The Omnilux New-U LED (M. D. Version) includes the same power and wavelength as the professional devices found in physicians’ offices, and medical spas whose packages for a similar series of treatments may run into the thousands of dollars.

Dr. Bauman is one of the first physicians to use the new Omnilux New-U treatment with patients; he is also considered to be a leading expert on the medical uses of low-level lasers and phototherapy devices. Dr. Bauman is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, North American Association for Laser Therapy, and World Association for Laser Therapy.

In Dr. Bauman’s last HSN appearance in January 2010, over 500 Omnilux New-U devices were purchased by viewers, exceeding expectations for the launch of this breakthrough device--the first of its kind to appear on HSN.

Bextra Lawsuits as Pfizer Pulls Defective Drug for Harmful Side Effects

Bextra Lawsuits as Pfizer Pulls Defective Drug for Harmful Side Effects

Since 1929, Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman lawyers have represented victims of defective products, including the defective drugs Vioxx, Baycol and Phen-Fen. Following FDA action ordering Pfizer's Bextra removed from the market, the New Jersey law firm announced its decision to represent Bextra victims. Reported studies and issues behind the FDA actions on Cox-2 Inhibitors and other NSAIDs are cited. Plaintiff attorneys explain why they are developing lawsuits.

(PRWEB) April 30, 2005

Attorneys in the New Jersey law firm of Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman who have represented plaintiffs in other defective product, defective drug and pharmaceutical litigations such as Vioxx, Baycol, Phen-Fen and defective joint implants, have decided to represent seriously injured victims of Bextra.

The Food and Drug Administration forced Pfizer Inc. to pull its drug Bextra off the market on April 7, 2005. The Pfizer drug, a cox-2 inhibitor, has already been linked to an increase risk for cardiovascular problems and now may be linked to an increased risk for Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a rare and potentially fatal skin disease, and coronary artery bypass surgery infections and sternal wound complications.

“Americans pay higher prices, we are told, to ensure drug safety; so Americans must hold drug companies responsible for the promised drug safety.” asserts Joseph Gorman, Esq., an attorney practicing class action and mass tort litigation at Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman.

“Through victim lawsuits the judicial process helps the agencies of our administrative branch of government enforce patient safety laws.” explains Arthur Penn, Esq., currently chairman of the Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman class action and mass tort litigation department and formerly Director of the Division of Public Interest Advocacy for the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate (1974-1978), Assistant Commissioner in the New Jersey Department of Public Advocate (1979-1981) and Member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Civil Procedure (1978-1981). “When drug companies face the expense and publicity of widespread victim lawsuits, they learn to recalculate the cost-benefit analyses to include more extensive, responsible testing into the side effects of future drugs. You will limit defective drug lawsuits by reducing the number of defective drug victims, and that will only happen by preventing defective drugs from coming to and remaining on the market.”

In related action, the Food and Drug Administration also issued its strongest “black box” warnings for other non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). These medications include Celebrex and over-the-counter products such as Advil, Aleve and Motrin. The warning will indicate that these drugs carry an increased risk of gastric bleeding and heart attacks. Patients, hopefully, will seriously consider these newly indicated side effects.

Bexta is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which was approved for use by the FDA in November 2001. It was prescribed for relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, adult rheumatoaid arthritis and primary dysmenorrhea (pain associated with menstruation). The recommended dose for the signs and symptoms of arthritis was 10 mg once daily; the recommended dosage for primary dysmenorrhea was 20 mg twice daily, as needed.

A recent meeting by the American Heart Association discussed the possible side effects of Bextra on the heart. It was claimed that Bextra patients undergoing heart surgery could be at increased risk.

The cox-2 inhibitors have been embroiled in controversy since Merck & Co. voluntarily withdrew its blockbuster drug Vioxx from the market last September, after a study showed it doubled patients' risk of heart attack and strokes.

Another study by WellPoint Inc., linked the painkillers (Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra) to increased cardiovascular risk, further reinforcing findings of other trials that already have sparked concern over the safety of the popular category of drugs.

That study indicated that Vioxx increased patients' risk of heart attack and stroke by about 20 percent while Bextra increased the risk by 50 percent.

A study submitted by Pfizer to the FDA on November 5, 2004, which included over 1,500 patients treated after undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), showed increased risk in patients treated with Bextra, compared with those treated with a placebo, of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), cerebrovascular incident (stroke), deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the leg), and pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung).

However deep surgical infections and sternal wound complications following coronary artery bypass surgery are also a serious Bextra concern.

In a December 10, 2004 letter from the Vice President and Medical Director of Pfizer Canada to “health care professionals”, the maker of Bextra revised their product monograph (a drug’s clinical profile) to warn doctors that Bextra has led to an increased incidence of cardiovascular/thromboembolic events, deep surgical infections or sternal wound complications. Pfizer Canada, after discussions with Health Canada, the Canadian government agency responsible for drug safety, now officially advises Canadian doctors and pharmacists that Bextra is contraindicated (not recommended) for the treatment of patients for pain following coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) due to surgical infections and sternal wound complications, as well as heart attacks, strokes and blood clot embolisms.

The FDA advised patients to seek their doctors' advice and emphasized that short-term use of over-the-counter strength versions of the NSAID medicines does not appear to pose the same risks.

“When patients “self-dispense”, or purchase medicines over-the-counter, they may not sufficiently review or may not fully understand the side effects. They are in pain and totally focused on relief. If physicians are more aware of their patients’ use of over-the-counter NSAIDs, or other over-the-counter medicines, then physicians can explain the nature of and monitor these side effects. They can help patients make more informed choices. Just because a drug is offered in over-the-counter strength does not mean that it has no potentially harmful side effects,” says Connie Bowen, RN, a registered nurse working with Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman.

Lawyers pursuing Bextra victim lawsuits, such as the Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman lawyers, are working with recognized medical experts in the field, as well as the patientsÂ’ own physicians.

Additional information about the FDAÂ’s announcements is available on its Web site at www. fda. gov/cder (http://www. fda. gov/cder). Information can also be obtained by calling 1-888-INFO-FDA (888-463-6332).

Since 1929, Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman attorneys have represented victims of defective products and other injury. To reach Arthur Penn, Esq. or Joseph Gorman, Esq., or other New Jersey lawyers at Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman, call 1-800-432-LAWS (5297) or learn more about the firm at www. pralaw. com.

"Happy Birthday NHS" - And So Say All Of Us!

"Happy Birthday NHS" - And So Say All Of Us!

Tuesday 5th July marks 57th anniversary of the introduction of the National Health Service in the UK.

(PRWEB) July 1, 2005

Tuesday 5th July marks the 57th anniversary of the introduction of the NHS. NHS Careers is taking this opportunity to celebrate the often pioneering, and always dedicated, work of NHS staff over the course of over half a century.

It's hard to believe that free access to healthcare came about so recently. The arrival of the NHS made a huge difference to people's lives at a difficult time in the history of the UK - post-war Britain was still experiencing food rationing and there were enormous differences in the healthcare available to different sectors of the population, among a plethora of other economic problems.

In its fifty-seven year history, the NHS has undergone dramatic change. The modernisation of the NHS has been rapid, and our expectations of healthcare delivery are high. The NHS now employs around 1.3 million people in England, taking care of patients, clients and their families and careers in hospitals and out in the community.

As Steve Barnett, Director of NHS Employers, explains, "Tuesday 5th July is, more than anything, a celebration of one of the most varied and multi-talented teams of people in the world.

"While a healthy NHS relies on many factors, the greatest benefit to patient care comes from those who work within the NHS - doctors, nurses, midwives, the healthcare scientists and therapists, those who look after the maintenance of the buildings, the administrative staff, those involved in research, and the people who are involved in the technology are essential to the running of such an organisation. The NHS Careers response line (0845 60 60 655) and website is busier than ever and recently received its one millionth contact.

"As a result, recruitment and retention of staff are key priorities for the NHS - locally and nationally. Today, the NHS is a modern employer offering important benefits such as flexible and family-friendly working practices, childcare facilities, housing initiatives, the NHS Pension, as well as on-going life long learning for staff. "

A recent poll of graduates by totaljobs. com to find the top ten most popular graduate employers, put the NHS as the third most popular, while the NHS is the largest employer in Europe and the third largest employer in the world. Recruitment initiatives are clearly paying dividends!

So Tuesday 5th July is a great opportunity for everyone to thank all the1.3 million people who work within the NHS, and to celebrate the contributions made by NHS employees past and present to the healthcare we all now have access to.

Example case studies:

Bobbie Lawrence, Manager, Telecommunications, Guys and St Thomas's NHS Trust, London

""I have been here for 23 years which is a long time and I have done most of the jobs - days, nights, major incidents and so on.

"I left school at 15 and was desperate to be a telephonist. I started work here when I was 17 and was thrilled to be offered the job. I thought they employed me because of my communication skills but found out after starting that I was chosen because I lived across the road!

"I left after a year to get married and have children but came back in 1983 when I had two young children - I was working as a night telephonist, which suited me well but I went back to days when they got older.

"In 1992 I took over as manager and a year later St Thomas' merged with Guy's to become one trust. Combining the two switchboard systems of two large hospitals was complicated and became a bit of a nightmare but we managed it and the system now is extremely efficient.

"Before we became one trust we had a microphone tannoy system so we could make announcements and contact individual doctors but technology has moved on so quickly. The whole Trust has also got a lot bigger. When I started we only had 4 telephonists and no computers but we now have 25 and an extremely high-tech computerised switchboard.

"The whole telecommunications department is also much busier now. We do a lot more and we are not just a call centre but a recruitment centre too. In 1987 we had 800 extensions but now we have 8,500!

"We do get some odd calls particularly at night - there are a lot of lonely people out there who just want to ring for a chat.

"One of my busiest days was the day of the hurricane in 1987 when only two of us managed to get in. We were bombarded by staff and patients trying to get through to tell us that they couldn't' get to work or appointments. It was chaos all morning but we coped.

"The NHS is a fantastic employer and helps people progress. There are a lot of other employers where I would not have been able to become a senior manager because I didn't go to university."

Mother and daughter, Tina (43) and Claire (18) Thompson

Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust

Tina started working for Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust in 1989 as an auxiliary nurse in the community. She then moved to the NHS Hospice. Then offered chance to be seconded to do nurse training while Trust continue to pay wages. She's doing a three year course on a new scheme - the Accreditation of Work Based Learning where the Trust and the University work together. She did her first year of training at the Hospice while studying part time, and is now full time at Northumbria University for the next two years. She has a contract with the Trust to return to work for them for two years after she qualifies. She found the first year hard work - full time auxiliary, part time student, mother and housewife! Very excited about the opportunities and she's guaranteed a job at the end.

Claire left school with GCSEs, but without sufficient grades to study for nursing, so she applied to be a Nurse Cadet. She has a five year contract with the Trust - 2 years working for the Trust, then 2 years at university, then one year as a qualified nurse at the Trust. She will also study at Northumbria University.

Tina says it's a fight for the computer at home as her son is also studying to be a civil engineer. She's delighted that both her children will have good careers, and is really excited to be furthering her own career at this stage in her life.

Frieda Bonner, Call Centre Operator, Guys' and St Thomas's NHS Trust, London

In the 1970's, the switchboard was situated in the East Wing Basement, just along from the mortuary. There was a ghost, 'the Grey Lady', that at least one of the ladies had seen walking along the corridor.

The Pater Nosta lift with no doors just went constantly up and over and back down the other side, which we always meant to try, but never did in case we got squashed at the top!

At that time, we had no computers so all our information was kept in small flip files on each switchboard that we updated ourselves. For emergencies or crash calls, we had a large free-standing chrome microphone with a red button to put out the calls to emergency staff.

The Thames Barrier had not been built at that time and one Spring, the Thames was expected to flood. We asked the Duty Officer what we should do as we were in the basement. He said, "Bring your Wellington boots with you and stay at the switchboard. Don't leave your posts"!

NOTES TO MEDIA

NHS CAREERS

Website and phone service: NHS Careers was launched in 1999 to provide information to people of all ages and qualifications looking for a career in the health service. It is also a useful resource for education providers at all levels. NHS Careers recently received its one millionth contact (not including user sessions and hits to the website)!

Workforce figures

To meet today's demands on the NHS, the number of NHS hospital staff has increased dramatically. In 1951 there were 15,000 NHS hospital doctors; by 2000 this figure had grown to 73,000. The number of NHS hospital nurses has more than doubled from 189,000 in 1951 to 432,000 in 2000, and the number of paramedics and technical hospital staff has grown from 14,000 to a 137,000 in the same period. In general practice the changes have been less dramatic, but the number of GPs increased by 2/3rds between 1951 and 2001, and the population per GP declined from 2,500 to 1,700.

Doctors Discovering More Clues to Solve the Mysteries of Infertility

Doctors Discovering More Clues to Solve the Mysteries of Infertility

There is little in the world of medicine more frustrating than the mysteries of infertility. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine reports that about 10% of childbearing couples in the U. S. struggle with the questions of infertility. The process of conceiving and carrying a healthy baby to term is complex, with many variables that have to fall into place. There are numerous factors that affect this delicate balancing act, but by breaking the process down and focusing on the minute details of each stage of conception, reproductive medicine researchers have been able to solve many issues that were a mystery to us just a few years ago.

Norwalk and Danbury, CT (PRWEB) June 14, 2006

There is little in the world of medicine more frustrating than the mysteries of infertility. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine reports that about 10% of childbearing couples in the U. S. struggle with the questions of infertility. “Why can’t we achieve pregnancy on our own?” “Why didn’t our In Vitro Fertilization attempts work?” “Do I have ‘good’ eggs?” While the process of conception still remains a mystery at many levels, the good news is that researchers are finding more and more clues to improving the process, from ovulation and egg retrieval to fertilization and implantation.

“The process of conceiving and carrying a healthy baby to term is complex, with many variables that have to fall into place,” notes Dr. Mark Leondires, M. D., a reproductive endocrinologist, Medical Director at Reproductive Medicine Associates of CT, and a leading authority on reproductive medicine. “There are numerous factors that affect this delicate balancing act, but by breaking the process down and focusing on the minute details of each stage of conception, reproductive medicine researchers have been able to solve many issues that were a mystery to us just a few years ago,” Dr. Leondires adds.

It all starts with an egg

In fertile women, each month one follicle nurtures the growth of a single egg that is released into the fallopian tube then fertilized. However, the process is not quite so simple for the roughly 6 million American women who struggle with infertility. Stimulating ovulation with medication has been standard therapy for ovulatory disorders, but Dr. Leondires explains that research and practice have led to a more targeted approach in recent years. “Today we have an arsenal of different therapy combinations, from those that work best on young, responsive patients to those that are effective with poor responders whose follicle counts are lower than usual,” he says.

Delivering the sperm

When conception occurs naturally, the sperm meets and fertilizes the egg somewhere between the ovaries and the uterus – usually in the fallopian tubes. However, a host of factors can make this process difficult, if not impossible, and that’s where In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) comes in. “Today we can help women with structural abnormalities in the reproductive organs that make it impossible to conceive naturally, as well as men whose sperm quality or quantity make it difficult to achieve fertilization, to conceive through IVF,” Dr. Leondires notes. “Although IVF facilitates fertilization by joining the sperm and egg in the laboratory it does not guarantee fertilization,” Dr. Leondires points out. “Many factors come into play. The sperm must be able to penetrate the egg, then the sperm and egg membranes must merge, and finally, the egg must ‘close’ itself off to other sperm,” he explains. Doctors can also assess any problems that are occurring during the fertilization process, and fix them with a process called Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). “With ICSI, one healthy sperm is injected directly into the egg, which eliminates challenges associated with membrane penetration or additional sperm entry,” Dr. Leondires adds.

Monitoring the embryo

Once an embryo is created, doctors have new ways to monitor and evaluate its likelihood of survival in the womb. A recent trend is to allow the embryo extra time in the laboratory, enough to develop into a blastocyst. “As a more mature embryo comprising 125-530 cells, a blastocyst may allow improvement in embryo selection for transfer, which could lead to fewer embryos transferred and a lesser chance of a

Multiple gestation, which in and of itself can be a risk for loss of the pregnancy,” Dr. Leondires explains.

In fact, Dr. Leondires urges IVF patients to consider the potential for multiple births seriously when they are asked how many embryos they wish to transfer per attempt. “I encourage my own patients to weigh their diagnosis, the number of cycles they have undergone, and the risks associated with a multiple gestation. ,” he notes.

After the transfer

“Supporting the early pregnancy is another challenge that reproductive medicine experts have been researching for many years, and we have learned that there are probably hundreds of factors that converge perfectly in order to create a successful implantation,” Dr. Leondires says. The good news is that miscarriage rates are no higher for IVF pregnancies than they are for naturally conceived pregnancies. “When an infertility patient successfully conceives, she is carefully monitored, and given hormone replacements that simulate what the body does naturally to support a healthy pregnancy to term,” Dr. Leondires explains.

“Like many other ‘medical mysteries,’ infertility is becoming less and less mysterious as researchers and physicians work to uncover effective new ways to treat this challenging disease,” Dr. Leondires concludes.

Dr. Mark P. Leondires, M. D., FACOG, is a leading authority on reproductive medicine. Dr. Leondires is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Endocrinologists, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Leondires earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Dr. Leondires completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. After completion of his training, he fulfilled his military obligation by serving as the ART Director for the largest and most successful program in the military health care system at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. During this time he was an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and clinical faculty for the Combined Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Leondires is currently Medical Director and lead physician with Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMA-CT) in Norwalk. Along with numerous teaching and research activities, Dr. Leondires has published articles in professional medical journals, national consumer magazines and newspapers, as well as abstracts and book chapters. Natural Gas Industry News: Free Air Quality Monitoring Software Now Being Offered for MGP Site Cleanup

Natural Gas Industry News: Free Air Quality Monitoring Software Now Being Offered for MGP Site Cleanup

An estimated 3,000 former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites in the United States await cleanup, and protecting local communities from adverse exposure to airborne contaminants is of paramount concern. Minnich and Scotto, Inc. is now offering owners free software to demonstrate compliance with health-based thresholds during MGP site cleanup.

Freehold, NJ (PRWEB) December 8, 2009 –

Minnich and Scotto, Inc. (MSI) announces that specialized air quality (http://www. msiair. net/) monitoring software for ensuring community protection during the cleanup of former manufactured gas plants (MGPs) is now available to the natural gas (http://www. msiair. net/) industry free of charge when they retain MSI as an independent provider of air quality monitoring services. Formerly available only under licensing arrangement, PICMET©, a real-time, automated software package, uses open-path Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and on-site meteorological data to demonstrate community protection from adverse airborne exposure. PICMET reporting can be customized for up to 15 volatile compounds of concern, including benzene and naphthalene. With maximum contaminant concentrations calculated every 10 minutes, these air quality “snapshots” are automatically compared to 24-hour-averaged health-based thresholds, and the site owner is immediately notified if any action is required. This “screening tool” ensures the public is never at risk, thereby reducing the site owner’s legal liability to an absolute minimum.

Salvatore “Buddy” Scotto, President of Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association in Brooklyn, New York, couldn’t be more pleased. “This air quality monitoring technology is exactly what our community needs to ensure we are fully protected from potentially harmful air emissions during the cleanup of the Public Place MGP site starting next spring,” said Scotto. The Public Place site, also known as the Citizens site, is an 11.5-acre former MGP operated by Brooklyn Union Gas (a National Grid predecessor company) until the early 1960s. “National Grid has informed us they will perform a full evaluation of this technology prior to initiation of site cleanup,” Scotto continued, “and anything to make it more attractive for National Grid to employ this software is a good thing.”

Tim Minnich, president of MSI and co-creator of PICMET, is hopeful that this financial incentive will encourage the natural gas industry to use the open-path technology. “There are about 3,000 MGP sites remaining to be cleaned up in the U. S. alone,” Minnich said. Most of these plants were built in cities and towns in the 19th century to provide gas for heating, cooking, and lighting before the existence of natural gas pipelines. Coal tar is the principal hazard and the source of many volatile air contaminants, some of which are known carcinogens. Minnich estimates that his firm has invested $100,000 to develop PICMET.

PICMET was field-tested at two MGP sites during a 2½-year R&D program by the Gas Technology Institute (http://www. msiair. net/GTI%20Focus%20Perimeter%20Air%20Monitoring%20During%20MGP%20Site%20Cleanups. htm? xd=4ReportsPubs4_8FOCUSPerimeterAirMonitoringDuringMGPCleanupsFocus. xml) following performance of a successful beta-test by Atmos Energy Corporation during a site cleanup in Bristol, Tennessee. “This breakthrough technology creates an entirely new paradigm in perimeter air quality monitoring,” says Dr. Stephen Takach, GTI’s project manager for the program. “Application of this technique fosters positive relations between the community and the natural gas industry. MGP sites can be cleaned up within a ‘partnership triangle’ comprised of the site owner, the regulators who are responsible for oversight, and the local community.”

Stuart Schulz, Atmos Energy’s MGP site program manager, agreed. “Thanks to this technology, acceptable air emissions levels were maintained at all times during the Bristol cleanup, and Atmos Energy was able to ensure safe air quality for its employees and the public,” he stated. “It was also less expensive than the sophisticated point monitoring systems used at other Atmos Energy sites in the past.” Atmos Energy was awarded the 2005 Environmental Excellence New Technology Award by the Southern Gas Association for its use of the open-path FTIR technology and the PICMET software.

Joann Held, retired Manger, Bureau of Air Quality Evaluation within the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and current member of the New Jersey Environmental Justice Advisory Council (EJAC), enthusiastically supports MSI’s approach to MGP site air quality monitoring. “Many MGP sites are located in distressed urban areas with residents living in very close proximity, and MSI’s software helps ensure that the incremental risk to the community is minimized during their cleanup,” asserts Held.

Six Ways to Get Better Healthcare; Organizational Health Tips from Laura Heuer and The FranklinCovey Healthcare Organizer

Six Ways to Get Better Healthcare; Organizational Health Tips from Laura Heuer and The FranklinCovey Healthcare Organizer

Tracking your family's medical history can influence early problem detection, accurate diagnosis and better treatment, according to Laura Heuer and the FranklinCovey Healthcare Organizer.

Hawthorn Woods, IL (PRWEB) January 23, 2007

When Laura Heuer's son contracted viral meningitis and had severe allergic reactions to various treatments, she initially fell into an abyss of tests, prescriptions, doctor appointments, and conflicting medical advice. Then this enterprising mother of three decided to get organized and take control of the situation. Being better organized and able to lay her hands on important health information and case history regarding her son empowered Heuer to help her son get an accurate diagnosis.

That experience eventually led her to work with FranklinCovey® to help create the FranklinCovey® Healthcare Organizer to empower others to do the same.

Whether suffering from an illness yourself or providing care to a loved one, Heuer says getting organized and involved in the medical process can help you receive better healthcare including earlier problem detection, a more accurate diagnosis, and more effective treatment. Although medical terminology and procedures can be overwhelming, following Heuer's steps for getting organized can give you confidence and make the task less daunting:

Organizational Health Tips from Laura Heuer and The FranklinCovey Healthcare Organizer

1. Start tracking your family's health history before there is a problem. By keeping a running log of all health-related incidents (i. e. tetanus shots, flu shots, ear infections, prescriptions taken, etc.) for each member of the family, you'll be able to provide doctors with a complete and accurate family medical history if needed.

2. Check out the family tree. Compile a list of diseases and medical conditions that are common among relatives in your family. Identifying illnesses you are at a higher-risk of contracting may spur the doctor to recommend preventative treatment or tests for early detection.

3. Record symptoms and health-related activities in a calendar. Having a timeline of symptoms can help doctors identify trends that may impact diagnosis. For example, flu-like symptoms that occur at the same time every year may be an allergy rather than a cold. Migraines clustered around a menstrual cycle may be related to hormonal fluctuations. And more than four ear infections in a year could lead to more aggressive treatment than another round of antibiotics.

4. Journal symptoms as they occur. Don't wait until the doctor's appointment to try and remember every pain or abnormal feeling you've experienced since the last visit. Seemingly unrelated symptoms may prompt the doctor to try different tests or treatments than originally planned. Frequent urination, for example, may indicate a bladder infection. But excessive urination coupled with fatigue and persistent thirst, may be a sign of diabetes or another more serious condition.

5. Write questions and answers down. Again, don't rely on memory to make the most of doctor visits. Write questions down ahead of time and then write the doctor's response next to each question. The personal Q&A will be a handy reference later and can assist in communicating with family members or caregivers who might have similar concerns.

6. Keep everything in one place. Keep all health-related documents including family medical history, symptom journals, test results, immunization charts, list of prescriptions taken, insurance coverage, blood work, question/answer sheets, etc. in one organized binder. Having the information at your fingertips can be a real timesaver and it can also help ensure everybody involved in taking care of an ailing family member has the information to do so properly.

With the FranklinCovey® Healthcare Organizer, getting your and your family's health organized is very easy. The Healthcare Organizer features a durable three-ring poly binder; forms and tabs for tracking Health History, Bills and Receipts, Appointments, Notes, Symptoms, Charts, Medication, Test Results, Doctor's Letters, and Resources; three blank tabs; and a sticker sheet with preprinted and blank tab labels. Plastic accessories also included are: two business card holders, one zipper pouch and six sheet protectors. This organizer is available in the FranklinCovey® monarch size for $39.95 and is available at www. franklincovey. com and at FranklinCovey's 89 stores nationwide.

Accident Advice Helpline to focus advertising on accidents at work

Accident Advice Helpline to focus advertising on accidents at work

Accident Advice Helpline announces new focus for advertising campaign

(PRWEB) April 11, 2009

The Accident Advice Helpline has announced they are to focus their marketing campaign around accidents at work in an effort to support the Health and Safety Executive.

Following recent government publicity of the work carried out by the HSE, Accident Advice Helpline has allocated additional advertising budget to help get the message out to the public that if they are injured at work through no fault of their own then their employer is liable for damages and that the AAH is there to help. Included in the advertising are television spots where Accident Advice Helpline clients - such as Steve Hubber, who claimed £3,677 after receiving serious leg injuries at work - talk about their compensation claim (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/compensation_claims (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/compensation_claims)) experience with the company.

The Health and Safety Statistics Report 2007/08 released by the HSE revealed that 6 million working days were lost because of workplace injury and Accident Advice Helpline (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/ (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/)) is joining them in their drive for improved health and safety in the workplace.

David Carter, the spokesperson for Accident Advice Helpline, said: "We are in constant contact with innocent victims who have suffered painful injuries, so we fully support and recognise the value the HSE brings by helping to reduce the number of preventable accidents from happening.

"By implementing their suggestions and providing specialist training for undertaking injury inducing tasks such as lifting or operating dangerous machinery they are making workplaces across Britain much safer. Even a simple look around the office to ensure there are no potential hazards could prevent a serious injury."

People who are considering claiming work accident compensation (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/work_accidents (http://www. accidentadvicehelpline. co. uk/work_accidents)) can visit the Accident Advice Helpline website for more information, to read case studies and to use the 30-second 'How much is your claim worth?' calculator. AAH also provides 24 hour phone assistance offering free legal advice.

Consumer Spending Remains Strong Despite Plunging Confidence and Higher Energy Prices

Consumer Spending Remains Strong Despite Plunging Confidence and Higher Energy Prices

The latest ICSC weekly chain store sales report on October 4, was full of surprises, mostly positive. It eliminates the possibility of a confidence-induced collapse in spending, suggests that retail sales growth for the September will be at least healthy, and suggests increased discounting. However, a number of drags remain and sales growth may decelerate going forward.

West Chester, PA (PRWEB) October 9, 2005

Consumers continued to spend at a healthy pace in chain stores in September despite an array of negative factors including record energy prices and hot weather that weighed on fall merchandise demand. Sales were supported by continued job and income growth, borrowing that supplemented cash flow, and easy comparisons to weak sales last year.

Sales were inflated by record gasoline prices. Some chain stores do sell gasoline and those retailers benefited from the increase in prices. Wal-Mart got 0.6 percentage points of its 3.8% growth from higher gasoline prices. Costco got three percentage points of its 11% growth from gasoline prices. The ICSC estimates that this added nearly 0.5 percentage points to same store sales growth in September. They also estimate it added three percentage points to growth at wholesale clubs.

Overall, the sales growth was stronger than expected, with a significant majority of retailers posting sales growth that exceeded expectations. Combined with the surprisingly small decline in auto sales in September, this provides evidence that consumers are not cutting back on their spending beyond what they are forced to do by energy price-induced declines in real income.

Fears that the sharp drop in consumer confidence would be accompanied by a retrenchment in spending clearly seem unfounded. Consumers continued to spend at a healthy pace in chain stores in September despite an array of negative factors including record energy prices and hot weather that weighed on fall merchandise demand. Sales were supported continued job and income growth, borrowing that supplemented cash flow, and easy comparisons to weak sales last year.

The outlook for overall retail sales for the month, to be reported October 14, is for healthy growth. Gasoline station sales likely grew very strongly again as average gasoline prices for the month were up about 40 cents, nearly double the 23 cent in August. Vehicle sales fell modestly and will be a drag on total sales, although a far more modest one than in August. The acceleration in growth in total store sales suggests at least modest growth in core sales. Of course the outlook could be altered by results at building supply stores, grocery stores, restaurants, and some other specialty stores for whom no sales data are yet available. But, building supply and grocery store sales were likely lifted by hurricane-related rebuilding and restocking.

Chicagoland Practice Offers a Creating Wellness Program

Chicagoland Practice Offers a Creating Wellness Program

The Creating Wellness System is a customized ‘wellness’ solution that incorporates all areas of well being – physical, bio-chemical and psychological. This is a unique program that enables people to make a positive change in one dimension which automatically leads to positive changes in another. But when all 3 dimensions change at the same time, the results can be positively life-transforming!

Oakbrook Terrace, IL (PRWEB) March 1, 2006

Advanced Natural Health Center, a Chicago area health and wellness practice, announced today it has opened a Creating Wellness Center. This will enable Advanced Natural Health Center to provide a fully integrated wellness program that evaluates a client’s wellness in three dimensions — Physical, Bio-Chemical and Psychological, and is managed in a five step process. Advanced Natural Health Center is the only Chicago area center to offer this program.

It is believed that human beings experience stress in three dimensions:

Physical: how you use your body Bio-Chemical: what you put into your body Psychological: the mind-body connection

In order to move toward total wellness, all three dimensions must be addressed at the same time. Leading edge technology and artificially intelligent software has been developed, which allows a doctor to measure all three dimensions in depth. From the findings, a customized wellness program is designed that works for the Client and their lifestyle. As the Client continues through the program, the system re-measures the Wellness Quotient every five weeks, and the program is adjusted as needed.

“When I was introduced to this program, I knew it was something that I wanted to make available to our patients,” says Dr. Bong Phetchamphone, a partner at Advanced Natural Health Center. “Our mission is to provide health care, not sick care, and our vision is to promote healthy life expectancy. The Creating Wellness Program will enable us to encourage the mind and body balance.”

The Five Step Process Includes:

1. Assessment

2. Wellness Quotient

3. Customization

4. Coaching

5. Reassessment

The Creating Wellness System is dramatically different from anything else on the market. It is a total revolution in mind and body wellness, combining the latest scientific technology with the most advanced measurement and motivational program ever developed. The system is administered and supervised by a licensed, caring, health care professional—your chiropractor.
