Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists Launches Job Board for CDI Professionals

Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists Launches Job Board for CDI Professionals

The CDI profession is rapidly growing. Hospitals are realizing the importance of CDI programs, especially since the advent of Medicare Severity DRGs (MS-DRGs) and CMS' corresponding documentation and coding adjustment (DCA), or payment cut for inpatient reimbursement. Hospitals that don't have CDI programs will see a decrease in payment due to the DCA. Because of these regulatory changes, hospitals are looking to add or build to their existing CDI departments, and the ACDIS job board was launched to fill that need.

Marblehead, MA (PRWEB) June 8, 2009

In response to member requests and an industry need to staff up clinical documentation improvement (CDI) programs, the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (http://www. hcpro. com/acdis/) (ACDIS) and HCPro, Inc. (http://www. hcpro. com), announced the launch of a job board for CDI specialists in April

Since the advent of Medicare Severity DRGs (MS-DRGs) and CMS' corresponding documentation and coding adjustment (DCA), payments are being cut for inpatient reimbursement. Hospitals that don't have CDI programs will see a decrease in payment due to the DCA--1.9% in 2009, and an additional 6.6% combined payment cut in fiscal years 2011 and 2012. As a result, CDI specialists are in demand.

"The CDI profession is growing rapidly and hospitals are continuing to realize the importance of CDI programs," says Brian Murphy, ACDIS director. "The ACDIS job board was created to help hospitals locate qualified professionals from around the country."

The job board is free for ACDIS members. Hospitals with a CDI-related job vacancy can post up to four openings per year. Non-ACDIS members may post openings on the job board for a $150 fee.

To visit the ACDIS job board and get information on how to post a job, visit the ACDIS Web site (http://www. hcpro. com/acdis/jobs. cfm).

Emerald Express International Introduces the Powerful New Sea Vegetable Superfood Supplement, Emerald Sea

Emerald Express International Introduces the Powerful New Sea Vegetable Superfood Supplement, Emerald Sea

Emerald Express International recently announced the introduction of new Emerald Sea to its premium health-related product line.

Newark, NJ (PRWEB) May 27, 2010

Emerald Express International, a visionary company dedicated to bringing the highest-quality consumable nutritional products to the online shopping community, recently announced the introduction of new Emerald Sea to its premium health-related product line. A proprietary blend of seven sea vegetables that are individually certified organic by the QAI/OCIA, Emerald Sea 100% Vegetable Capsules can provide your body and cells with the vital nutrients needed for optimal health, homeostasis, and regeneration.

According to Adrian Goad, President of Emerald Express, and a health/nutrition research expert who stresses the growing knowledge of seaweed benefits, and importance of organic seaweed for wellness and weight loss, “Sea vegetables have the broadest range of minerals of any food, containing virtually all the minerals found in the ocean - the same minerals that are found in human blood. Sea vegetables are an excellent source of iodine and vitamin K, a very good source of the B-vitamin folate and magnesium, and a good source of iron and calcium, and the B-vitamins riboflavin and pantothenic acid.”

The consumption of sea vegetables enjoys a long history throughout the world. Archaeological evidence suggests that Japanese cultures have been consuming sea vegetables for more than 10,000 years. In ancient Chinese cultures, sea vegetables were a noted delicacy, suitable especially for honored guests and royalty. In fact, many of the world`s longest living cultures consumed sea vegetables regularly. Goad explains that Western cultures are only recently beginning to enjoy the nutritional value of sea vegetables, and that Emerald Sea is an outstanding way to incorporate these vital elements into our diet.

"Emerald Sea contains a special blend of seven (7) certified organic sea vegetables that are sustainably hand-harvested and carefully sun-dried to retain all the natural raw food benefits of these amazing plants,” Goad continues. “Just by taking one or two capsules with each meal, you will drastically improve the number of whole-food nutrients in your daily diet and start to feel the positive impact of seaweed benefits on your health!”

Boutique luxury Real Estate firm, Manhattist Inc, is offering a 20% rebate on all sales to stimulate the Real Estate Economy in New York City.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 16, 2010

Manhattist Inc, a boutique luxury real estate firm, is slashing 20% of any commission it makes off sales to give you, the consumer, the break you most certainly deserve. It is for these reasons that Manhattist Inc is giving their clients 20% of their commission on any sales back. Take the cash-- use it to lower closing costs, buy new furniture or celebrate a healthy deal! "However you choose to spend it," they say, "know that our company is not here to swallow your money but to ensure you make make investments you're proud to call your own."

CEO Danny Sedjati writes: "Come take advantage of our offer! The market is ripe, and with our bargain on luxury properties, the time has never been better for you to indulge in the city's loveliest 5-star properties." With offers like these, it seems Mr. Sedjati is right indeed.

CULTURE, TIME CONVERGE AT FARM AND FOOD SHOW

CULTURE, TIME CONVERGE AT FARM AND FOOD SHOW

2nd annual show at Red River Exhibition Park brings community.

(PRWEB) July 28, 2001

A convergence of time, cultures and communities will occur at the 2001 Farm and Food Days, show chair Bonnie Hagborg said today.

“Our show will feature many displays, exhibits and interesting opportunities for people to learn more about their neighbours and their past,” Hagborg said of the free show which will run July 26-28 at Red River Exhibition Park. “We’re programming the event to showcase agriculture which is a strength of the Manitoba economy and to allow those in the city to become more familiar with the exciting activities occurring outside the Perimeter Highway.”

The past will converge with the present as Tim and Deanna Treadway speak about their experiences on the hit TV show Pioneer Quest. The Treadways will be at the show all three days to talk about what they learned during their year-long pioneer adventure from how to stay focused when all about you is chaos, living off the land and even how to slow down when in the rat race. They will compare 1875 and today taking into account everything from transportation and food to noise, music and toiletries. The past will also be represented by a unique display of antique farm equipment and activities such as bread baking.

Cultures will converge with various crop displays including an exhibit of oriental vegetables which may soon be grown in Manitoba. “By showing producers some of the non-traditional crops which can be grown in our climate and soil type, it may provide them with some new opportunities to diversify their crops and hopefully provide a higher rate of return per acre than traditional crops. For the consumer – we currently import most of these non-traditional crops, and if they can be grown here locally, it would provide a fresh, home-grown and hopefully cheaper alternative,” said Hagborg.

And, communities will converge with demonstrations of livestock handling, a Manitoba market with sampling of Manitoba-produced products including Bison, cooking demonstrations and a large farm equipment auction.

Other highlights include live entertainment and a Young Speakers Competition sponsored by the Manitoba 4-H Council.

“Manitoba was built on agriculture and our provincial economy is dependent on the health of the farm economy. This show is designed to bring all Manitobans, urban and rural, together to share all our province has to offer,” Hagborg said.

Aviva is proud to introduce a new product line derived from premium forest grown yerba mate from Paraguay!

Aviva is proud to introduce a new product line derived from premium forest grown yerba mate from Paraguay!

Aviva, your favorite source for premium yerba mate, has exciting news for our friends and customers. Earlier this year, we concluded exclusive partnering agreements with two highly respected entities in South America. One produces our yerba mate and the other our bombillas and mate gourds.

(PRWEB) May 20, 2003

As our current customers know, we're dedicated to product quality, customer service, and conservation of the environment. We strive to locate and make available for our customers the highest quality product from South America that is grown and harvested in an ethical and environmentally-friendly manner.

You have enjoyed our premium yerba from Argentina, and now you are to be treated to a product grown and harvested in a manner similar to the first yerba mate encountered by the Spanish conquistadors in the early 1500Â’s. The forests of Estancia de Carson are located in the Paraguayan district of Amambay, near Pedro Juan Caballero. This remote frontier town is far from populated areas and city pollution.

The local Indian tribes have harvested yerba mate from time immemorial—one leaf at a time—from plants as old as the tribal elders. The trees on the Estancia are the same such trees. Many are more than 100 years old! There are no plantation rows, no plows, no sprayers, and no harvesting machinery. The yerba grows in the cool shaded depths of the forest. Measured sunlight is filtered through the high crowned canopies of 200-foot high Cedro, Inciencio, and Lapacha trees. These giants provide essential shade and insure that the yerba is not blistered by the tropical sun. They also provide protection from driving wind and rain that can strip tender leaves before they can be harvested. Forest grown mate possesses its own distinct aroma and flavor. The forest provides vital earth nutritients to assure the proper growth and health of the yerba. In the forest, no artificial fertilizers or pesticides are needed. Nature does it all!

Contrast this with growers who have had to resort to plantation methods to meet demand. Trees are cut down and forests are cleared to make way for groves of mate trees. These young plants cannot survive the onslaught of ants and other insects without the initial use of pesticides. Nor can the open land be replenished with nutrients without bringing in fertilizers. Plantation trees just can’t compete with nature. At the Estancia de Carson, mate harvesting and production is done the old-fashion way— one tree, one leaf at a time. In fact, production methods on the Estancia are older than what would be considered "traditional". Workers harvest the mate in the morning, then build a fire in the forest and "flash" the mate by hand. This is opposed to plantation mate that is typically harvested and produced by machine in a factory. Less machinery means more work and jobs for the local population. These sustainable methods not only produce mate for our customers, they help protect dozens of plant and animal species on the preserve.

Although the yerba is harvested, cured, and sorted in the traditional ways, it is processed, handled and packaged to North American standards. The entire commercial production, packaging and shipping is conducted under the direct supervision of a resident American with more than 37 years experience. You, as our customer, can be assured that our yerba has been produced, packaged, and handled to exacting American quality control standards and cleanliness.

As with many of our coffee and tea counterparts, we're committed to fair trade practices and the betterment of the local community. The Carson's are the only suppliers with whom we're partnered. Currently, there are about 15 employees and their families on the estancia, made up of the local Guarani Indians, Paraguayans, and Brazilians. These local people and their families are more than residents. . .they are truly a family. Jim Carson, known as the Padrone, not only provides employment, he feeds, shelters, and administers medical care to everyone on the estancia.

Our new mate takes the concept of organic to the next level. The USDA states that "organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations." According to the Organic Trade Association, "the primary goal of organic agriculture is to optimize the health and productivity of interdependent communities of soil life, plants, animals and people." In addition to an in-process organic certification, our mate will be the only certified “Wild Harvest” product on the market today.

We're excited to have the privilege of introducing this unique mate to North American consumers!

Best of Health,

INTERFACEWARE's Chameleon HL7 Messaging Tool-kit selected as the HL7 interface mechanism for Vision Chips Inc.'s newly released Observer7 Ob/Gyn Information System.

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) March 30, 2009

iNTERFACEWARE, Inc., a leading provider of HL7 (http://www. interfaceware. com) integration tools and services to the healthcare sector, was pleased to announce today that its Chameleon HL7 Messaging Tool-kit has been selected by Vision Chips Inc. of California as the HL7 integration mechanism for that company's new OBSERVER7 Obstetrical and Gynecological Ultrasound Information, Reporting & Image Archiving System.

OBSERVER7 eliminates the need for transcription, significantly improves productivity, and provides a rapid return on investment. In this regard, the ability to acquire data automatically and eliminate manual entry is critical. " Based on our prior experience, we had absolutely no hesitation in selecting iNTERFACEWARE's Chameleon for our latest OBSERVER7 (http://www. visionchips. com/OB7PACS2.htm) release." notes Jock Philip, President of Vision Chips, Inc..

Derek Delpero, head of interface development for Vision Chips, noted that Chameleon has already been used to integrate with a number of information systems, including (among others) eClinical Works, Meditech, Cerner, Softmed, IDX (Imagecast and FLowcast), GE's Logician, Philips' iSite, McKesson's Horizon, and Sorian and Envision from Siemens. "In some cases, we connected directly to the host system while in others we needed to first connect to customers' interface engines such as Cloverleaf, e-Biz Impact (Sybase), eGate and Siemen's OpenLink. In all cases Chameleon was easy to work with and customize to each site. "This translates into an ability to build our own interfaces quickly, cost-effectively and with little need for support."

"We are obviously gratified to have been selected as the HL7 interface (http://www. interfaceware. com/iguana_features. html) mechanism for Observer7 and look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Vision Chips." said Eliot Muir, President and Chief Technical Officer for iNTERFACEWARE. "With our Iguana and Chameleon products already achieving connectivity with every major HIS and RIS system in the market, a vendor is pretty much guaranteed inter-operability. Our tools are used by a significant number of vendors in the PACS industry and we were extremely pleased by the reception our pending Iguana 4.0 product enjoyed at the RSNA trade show this past December."

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Centers Expands Its Investigation Of Chinese Drywall To Include Failed AC Coils & Banks Selling Toxic Homes Without Disclosure

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Centers Expands Its Investigation Of Chinese Drywall To Include Failed AC Coils & Banks Selling Toxic Homes Without Disclosure

The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is expanding its investigation of toxic Chinese drywall to include homeowners who have lost more than two, or three air conditioning coils, and or new homeowners who purchased a bank foreclosure after January 2009, without disclosing to the new homeowner, that the home, or condominium contained toxic Chinese drywall. The focus of this is expanded investigation are new homeowners in the States of Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia & Texas. The group is saying, "we want to hear from any homeowner, who has lost more than two, or three AC coils in a home with toxic Chinese drywall, and we want to hear from homeowners who were sold a bank foreclosure after January 2009, that turned out to have toxic Chinese drywall." Homeowners can call the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 21, 2009

Americas Watchdog's Chinese Drywall Complaint Center has been doing everything possible to assist the hundreds of thousands of US homeowners, who now live in a toxic, & potentially lethal home, because of imported Chinese drywall. The group is expanding its investigation to include a desire for every homeowner in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia & Texas to call the group, if they have lost more than two, or three air conditioning coils since 2004. The group also wants to talk with new homeowners in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, & Texas who were sold a bank owned foreclosure after January 2009, that turned out to contain toxic Chinese drywall. The group is saying,"the gloves are coming off. These homeowners deserved much better, the federal government's response is a national disgrace, in particular President Obama has yet to directly comment on the issue, the national TV Network's to include NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN or Fox have yet to even send their anchors to cover the worst environmental disaster in US history, and the health of hundreds of thousands of completely innocent US citizens could be at extreme risk. Someone had to try to say something." Affected homeowners can contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center anytime at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via their web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

So what is the big deal about air conditioning coil failures in new, or remodeled homes in Florida, Louisiana, Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, or Alabama?

According to the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center, "we have heard from homeowners, whose homes contain toxic Chinese drywall, that they were losing air conditioning coils as far back as 2004. Air conditioning coils are supposed to last up to 20 years. There is no way the AC manufactures did not know that the toxic gases from imported Chinese drywall were not the cause of AC coil failures by 2006. No way." The group is also saying, "we think the air conditioning manufacturers put a higher premium on their relationships with homebuilders, than the completely innocent homeowners who now live in a toxic house with Chinese drywall & we intend to prove it." Homeowners who live in a home with toxic Chinese drywall, who have also suffered at least two, or three air conditioning coil failures since 2004 should contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center immediately at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

So why does the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center want to talk with individuals who have purchased a bank foreclosure in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, or Virginia, since February of 2008-who have since found out the home contains toxic Chinese drywall?

According to the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center, "we think the banks knew they were selling a home with toxic Chinese drywall after January 2009, we know they failed to disclose it, in many to most cases, and we think its criminal. We think this is criminal conduct on the part of the banks is an insult to all US Citizens, and we are going after the banks." If any homeowner purchased a bank foreclosure in Louisiana, Florida, Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, or Alabama after January on 2009, only to discover, after the fact it has toxic Chinese drywall, they should contact the Chinese Drywall Complaint Center at 866-714-6466 immediately, or contact the group via its web site at Http://ChineseDrywallComplaintCenter. Com

Note to President Obama & House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from Americas Watchdog. "Toxic Chinese Drywall is the worst environmental disaster in US history affecting 100,000's of completely innocent US homeowners and their families. The Obama Administration, the US Congress, and various federal agencies have failed miserably to protect these citizens, or to respond in a robust and meaningful way to this disaster. We are formerly demanding the termination of the director's or administrators of the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Products Safety Commission, & the Centers for Disease Control. The federal response is a direct reflection on the Obama Administration & the US Congress." The group is also saying, "Mr. President, why spend all weekend on TV talk shows pushing health care reform, when you have so miserably failed to respond to, or protect the 100,000's of US citizens & their families who live in a home with toxic Chinese drywall? These precious souls have extreme healthcare issues and you have ignored them?"

Invitation To Fox TV: The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying,"since no one else in the national news media will; please cover the toxic Chinese drywall story in Florida & the other affected states, on a national basis. Once you see the scope & size of this story, you will see how your Acorn reporting will pale in comparison to the toxic Chinese drywall disaster & 100,000's of completely innocent US homeowners, and their families, in the worst mess of their lives." The group is saying, "no US Citizen will trust President Obama, Or House Speaker Pelosi with our nations health care, when they see how poorly they have responded to hundreds of thousands of Americans in the worst health care crisis in our nations history=potentially lethal Chinese drywall in their homes."

The group is also saying, 'and Mr. President, after nine months of weekly press releases, & numerous news articles your US Products Safety Commission has yet to recall one sheet of toxic Chinese drywall, & this worthless federal agencies web site says there have only been 900 complaints in Florida. In just Fort Meyers, Florida alone there are thousands of homes with toxic Chinese drywall. Why have a US Products Safety Commission, if they are this worthless?"

The group is saying,"if you live in a home with toxic Chinese drywall, or know someone who does, please share this press release with everyone you know."

Green Ideas Earns National Leed Recognition

Green Ideas Earns National Leed Recognition

Arizona consulting firm earns four Platinum LEED awards from the U. S. Green Building Council

Phoenix, Ariz. (PRWEB) June 2, 2009

Green Ideas Environmental Building Consultants, Arizona's leading consultancy firm specializing in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), today announces their fourth "Platinum" LEED level of certification - the highest available - for the new Arizona Game & Fish Headquarters Building in Phoenix. Only three other Arizona facilities have received this prestigious recognition from the U. S. Green Building Council and all have been consulted by Green Ideas.

Green Ideas offers educational programs and product services in addition to their world-class LEED (http://www. egreenideas. com/green-ideas-education. php) consulting services. The company has previously earned the U. S. Green Building Council "Platinum" recognition for the Arizona State University Biodesign Building B in Tempe, the Northern Arizona University Applied Research and Development Facility in Flagstaff and the Lee H. Brown Conservation Learning Center in Tucson.

"This milestone project is a significant accomplishment and we are extremely proud of the marked success for the state of Arizona and the Game & Fish Department," said Charlie Popeck, president of Green Ideas. "Our dedicated team at Green Ideas made it possible for us to earn this national recognition and we plan to continue contributing to the environment and community with additional sustainable buildings."

The Game & Fish facility was designed as a full-service center to support department administration, customer service, business operations, information and education coordination, research coordination and public meetings of the Arizona Game & Fish Commission. The result is a state-of-the-art facility, built to exceed the department's needs and support future growth, while aligning with then-Governor Janet Napolitano's executive order to achieve LEED Silver certification as a state-operated building. The Arizona Game & Fish Headquarters Building project team, who contributed to making it one of the most sustainable buildings in the country, includes Green Ideas, architect Jeff Will, Sundt Construction and Lincoln Property Company.

Green Ideas worked with state officials and the design and construction team to develop a unique third-party ownership structure to install a large, 189 kilowatt, rooftop photovoltaic solar system which will be implemented this summer. This system served as the foundation to achieve Platinum certification, supplying a significant portion of the project's energy needs when leveraged in tandem with low-E glass that reduces solar heat gains inside the structure.

Green Ideas principal Mark Wilhelm said the project succeeded only with a bold commitment by Arizona Game & Fish and Lincoln Property Company to focus on energy efficiency while establishing a unique way to implement solar technology. "This building would not have been possible without a commitment by the design team to ensure an energy-efficient building design, maximized use of day lighting and the use of the APS Solutions for Business incentive program as a baseline for design."

The team utilized a whole-building approach to the project, enabling the design component of the building to contribute 36 of the 52 total possible LEED (http://www. egreenideas. com/green-ideas-education. php) points - and it focused on elements providing a direct return on investment. The design drastically reduced costs and simplified operations for the department by consolidating and centralizing many resources into a new, sustainable full-service facility.

Game & Fish Project Highlights:

Low-emitting finishes and inert materials reduce occupant exposure to formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) commonly found in the atmosphere of new buildings  Exterior light shelves were tuned to the equinox to take better advantage of winter daylight, while mitigating solar heat gain in the summer  282,500 SF of open space was preserved and dedicated as natural habitat on the southeast portion of the project  The use of native plants and drip irrigation as well as the installation of water efficient plumbing fixtures save valuable potable water

Project Results:

43 percent of building materials were manufactured within a 500-mile radius  65 percent energy cost savings, greatly exceeding ASHRAE 90.1-1999 energy standards  Approximately 208 metric tons of CO2 emissions will be offset by the 189 kilowatt photovoltaic solar system when implemented later this summer  73 percent reduction of water use for irrigation and a 42 percent reduction of indoor water use -- a projected savings of more than 403,257 gallons of potable water each year  More than 680 cubic yards (57 percent) of construction waste was diverted from landfills and recycled

FW Pharma Systems announces proposed subscription service linking IMPACT and AcurianÂ’s Investigator Database

FW Pharma Systems announces proposed subscription service linking IMPACT and AcurianÂ’s Investigator Database

FW Pharma Systems, announce their intention to provide enhanced investigator management solutions for users of leading Clinical Trials Management System, IMPACT.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2002

“IMPACT has established itself as the leading CTMS and Acurian has developed the industry’s most comprehensive database of experienced clinical investigators,” says Paul Tebbs, Business Development Director, FW Pharma Systems. “It makes excellent sense for us to bring the two together, providing a link that enables IMPACT users to augment their own database of investigators by searching Acurian’s Investigator Database by speciality, prescribing behaviour, trial experience and other relevant metrics. IMPACT users will also be able to see the number of patients in Acurian’s Patient Database of more than 4.3 million individuals that are geographically proximate to selected investigator sites. These new search capabilities will be made available within our customers’ own secure IMPACT trials management environment and can be used to set up potential trial units. By incorporating the data within IMPACT, users benefit from using familiar routines, together with a smoother workflow process – no hot-keying between applications and no conversion of data formats required.”

“Access to our Investigator Database through IMPACT will provide sponsors with the relevant data they need to make informed decisions in regards to investigator recruitment,” said Mark Eisenach, CEO of Acurian. “By teaming with a market leader like FW Pharma Systems, we can quickly provide our informatics-based approach to investigator recruitment to multiple sponsors in an integrated, turnkey fashion.”

According to Tebbs, “Increasingly, both CROs and sponsors will need ready access to high-quality investigator and patient data to expedite study start-up. That is why FWPS is actively pursuing links between IMPACT and Acurian, to help jumpstart the investigator enrolment process. We plan to have integrated Acurian’s Investigator Database into IMPACT in time for the DIA’s Annual meeting in June in Chicago.”

Homecare Homebase Adds Laptops to Device Mix for Agency Automation Solution

Homecare Homebase Adds Laptops to Device Mix for Agency Automation Solution

Homecare Homebase, L. P. announced the addition of laptop and tablet computers to the list of approved point-of-care devices for use with the company's home health and hospice agency automation solution. The addition makes Homecare Homebase the only solution provider to offer a complete mix of wireless handheld, laptop, tablet and netbook computers for use at the point-of-care.

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) April 29, 2009

Today, Homecare Homebase, L. P. announced the addition of laptop and tablet computers to the list of approved point-of-care devices for use with the company's home health and hospice agency automation solution. The addition makes Homecare Homebase the only solution provider to offer a complete mix of wireless handheld, laptop, tablet and netbook computers for use at the point-of-care.

"With the addition of laptops, Homecare Homebase offers home health and hospice agencies ultimate flexibility when rolling out their agency automation solution," said April Anthony, CEO of Homecare Homebase. "The expanded device mix ensures more options for staff, while still providing real-time data transfer back to the agency and the patient's entire circle of care. Agency management can better meet their business, staffing and financial goals with a more nimble solution."

Historically, wireless data transfer rates for laptop computers have been slow, however, using proprietary compression technology Homecare Homebase has achieved data transfer rates equivalent to those of the wireless handhelds. The Homecare Homebase standard is now as little as two minutes from start of sync to completion. And, with the expansion of air-card products available at wireless carriers, agencies have as many options for their laptops and tablets as they do in choosing plans for handheld devices.

Offering the robust Homecare Homebase solution on a laptop computer offers agencies and their field staff the same intuitive, comprehensive automation solution, with added flexibility. Agencies also enjoy the benefit of the same user interface across all hardware types, cutting the need for additional or new training. Plus, with the emergence of smaller, lighter and more affordable netbook computers, agencies can enjoy faster ROIs and lower total cost of ownership, similar to that seen with handheld devices. The technical requirements for laptops, tablets and netbooks are also minimal, simply requiring a Windows operating system and a minimum of 1 gigabyte of RAM.

"Homecare Homebase is in the unique position of being a solution provider that came directly from the agency environment, and because of this intimate understanding we saw the need to offer agencies even more choices when rolling out agency automation to their field staff," said Tom Maxwell, COO of Homecare Homebase. "The laptop solution allows agencies to give the field staff more options, ensuring that they are comfortable with the tools they are using every day and enabling them to complete their documentation in the home. All of this adds up to more satisfied caregivers who are able to focus their attention on what matters most, the patients."
