Real Men Cook® For Charity, the Nation's Premier Urban Father's Day Charity Event
Real Men Cook® is a national movement. Our goal is to have Father's Day celebrated more meaningfully via family celebrations. Our aim is to recognize REAL MEN. Our definition of a Real Man is one who contributes positively to children, family unity and communities. Real Men Charities, Inc. is the year-round extension of Real Men Cook.

Real Men Cook® For Charity, the nation's premier urban Father's Day charity event, will be celebrating its 17th anniversary in 2006. The local Real Men Cook Organizing Committee is seeking men from Philadelphia and the entire Delaware Valley, in addition to other event cities, to participate in this year's event.
As part of its ongoing recruitment and promotional campaign for 2006, the local Real Men Cook® Organizing Committee is having its next Recruitment Info Reception on Thursday, June 8th. The time and place are 6:30-8:30 PM at the Savannah Restaurant, located at 1836 Callowhill Avenue. All event chefs must be males. However, men, women and children (10 and older) are invited to participate as event volunteers.
Among the "real men" who will be flexing their culinary muscles at Real Men Cook® in Philadelphia are father/son teams Jerome and Jaleel Austin; Mike Barney and Kwame Thomison; Joel Austin and Jacinda Davis; David King, Sr. and Jr.; Christopher, Christian and Joshua Ridenhour; and John and Jermaine Walker. Several culinary arts students and representatives from the Achieving Independence Center culinary training program, Philabundance Community Kitchen (PCK), Cheyney University, Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) and Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) will also participate. Men from all walks of life are being sought to participate.
With a mission to build families and provide the opportunity for non-profits to raise money from event ticket sales, Real Men Cook® For Charity mobilizes and spotlights hundreds of men in urban communities across the country who are willing to donate their time and resources to cook and serve samples of their favorite dishes on Father's Day. Between the food, entertainment, children's activities, health screenings, fitness demonstrations and door prizes, this fun filled food tasting celebration has something to offer everyone.
Real Men Charities, whose mission is to create and sustain healthy families, is the national charity partner in each event city. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the Philly event will benefit Communities in Schools and the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation.

Tickets are $20 in advance for adults ($25 at the door) and $10 for children (12 and under). Children under two are admitted free.
