Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 1, 2006

Dallas’ Single Parent Foundation is excited to announce their inaugural 5K Fun Run and Kid Fest taking place on Saturday, September 23rd from 8 AM until 6 PM at Austin Ranch located in The Colony just off the North Dallas Tollway and Windhaven Parkway.

“We are thrilled to host this exciting event,” says Austin Ranch’s Mary Golaboff, Vice President. “To be a part of something that will benefit so many deserving families is an extreme pleasure for us.” The event will consist of a fun filled day of activities for kids and parents including a kids fifty-yard dash, inflatables, games, live bands, plenty of delicious food and appearances by many of the Metroplex’s favorite sports heroes.

“Having grown up in a single parent household, I saw firsthand how difficult it was for my mother to make ends meet,” explains Single Parent Foundation spokesperson Darren Woodson. “I am honored to be a part of such an incredible organization whose only goal is to help families in need to have a better life.” The Foundation has set a goal of raising $150,000 this year, which will help provide emergency assistance to 10 families per month. Proceeds from the Darren Woodson 5K Fun Run and Kid Fest will help ensure that individuals dealing with the daily difficulties of single parenthood will have a chance to provide their children with the basic necessities. About The Single Parent Foundation

Over the past 30 years the number of single-mother families has increased 333%; single-father families has grown 508%. These are astounding numbers and The Single Parent Foundation is asking for your lending hand to assist these families – your neighbors, your colleagues, your child’s best friend’s family.

Single parents earning between $30,000-$40,000 per year account for only 11 percent of the 12 million single parent families in the United States, and yet they have an overall higher rate of employment (93% of single fathers; 91% of single mothers) than any group of single parents who are earning less. These people are ready and willing to meet the challenges of raising their families alone, but too often the monthly costs of rent or mortgage, daycare, a car payment, groceries, healthcare and education leave very little for any unforeseen emergency or need.

The goal of the Single Parent Foundation is to help hard-working families help themselves. The Foundation does not provide a handout but rather emergency services for the people who need it most. In some cases, we may fund an emergency car repair or a monthly daycare payment. The bottom line is that we are helping families get back on their feet – and stabilizing the lives of the children affected by the difficulties of parents struggling to meet their needs.

The Foundation has set a goal of raising $150,000 this year, which will help us provide emergency assistance to 10 families per month. After taking into account the statistics above, we would like to ask you to consider giving some assistance to American families in need. Your monetary or in-kind gift will help ensure that your struggling neighbor or colleague, dealing with the daily difficulties of single parenthood will have a chance to provide their children with the same opportunities that you strive to provide for your own children.

Order the official hotdog of the Buffalo Bills for your next NFL Sunday celebration

Order the official hotdog of the Buffalo Bills for your next NFL Sunday celebration

White-hots, inc. announces that you can now have the official hotdog of the Buffalo Bills (ZweigleÂ’s) delivered to all 50 states and Puerto Rico in time for next NFL Sunday by ordering online at www. white-hots. com

Rochester, New York (PRWEB) October 6, 2003 -

Hots, inc. announces that NFL fans across the United States and Puerto Rico can now order the official hotdogs of the Buffalo Bills and best hotdogs in America online at www. white-hots. com for next NFL Sunday.

Since 1999 the best hotdogs in America (ZweigleÂ’s) have been the official hotdog of the NFLÂ’s Buffalo Bills Football Team. This gives local Bills fans one tasty reason to attend home games at Ralph Wilson Stadium, while distant fans across the country have long suffered the indignity of eating anything else on game day. But now Buffalo Bills fans and other NFL Team fans across America can celebrate NFL Sundays deliciously with ZweigleÂ’s incredible hotdogs and fully cooked Italian sausage being available for online ordering and next-day delivery at www. white-hots. com!

In Western New York, for a long time there have been two things that you can get that are better than anyplace in the world. One of them is Zweigle's hotdogs (aka “hot dogs” and just “hots” as in “white hots”). Not only would no Buffalo Bills tailgating party be complete without Zweigle’s, but these hotdogs are so special that out-of-towners lug coolers full of them home, beg their family and friends to pack them in dry ice and ship them across the Country, and now more conveniently order from the Company online across the fifty states and Puerto Rico at www. white-hots. com for next-day delivery in most instances.

White-hots, inc. (www. white-hots. com) is one of only 15 listed members of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (www. hot-dog. org). The Company has brought ZweigleÂ’s to lucky communities as far away from home as California and Oregon, and is having discussions with buyers across America and in Europe to bring Zweigle's hotdogs the global acclaim they deserve.

The Company recently obtained approval from the Feingold Association of the United States (www. feingold. org) for Zweigle's white hotdogs to be used by those who follow the Feingold Program diet. (Zweigle’s white hotdogs do not have sodium nitrite or nitrate added thus their white color). Why is this important? Company president, Nicholas Capanna states: "While, we are not scientists or physicians, it's our understanding that sodium nitrite and/or nitrate additive consumption may cause some serious health problems including cancers.”

In 1880, C. Wilhelm Zweigle and his wife Josephine opened a small sausage shop in Rochester, New York. That was the humble beginning of what would lead five generations of family to dedicate their lives to making Zweigle’s a Rochester institution. In 1925, Zweigle’s, Inc. introduced their first “white hotdog” product, which created quite a local buzz. And, in the generations since, Rochestarians have made Zweigle’s hotdogs not only a favorite food but also a source of local pride (and one they were perfectly content to secretly enjoy as a benefit of living in their city by Lake Ontario while lesser red wieners enjoyed the limelight and became America’s favorite food with an unknowing American public).

The survival and growth of ZweigleÂ’s Inc. from a small sausage shop into a multi-million dollar company nearly 125 years old is a testament to the ZweigleÂ’s family, their sensational innovation of AmericaÂ’s favorite food, and their dedication to old-fashioned quality and wholesomeness in a world of mass merchandised, inferior franks. With local consumers never being able to get enough ZweigleÂ’s hotdogs, the company has until recently been content to focus its energies on making the finest hotdogs in the world while keeping its world-class products a best-kept secret of Rochester, New York.

HealthcareSource Reports Record Third Quarter

HealthcareSource Reports Record Third Quarter

Broad New Client Adoption and Expanding Client Relationships Mark Another Successful Quarter

Woburn, Mass. (PRWEB) October 14, 2010

HealthcareSource®, the leading provider of talent management software solutions for the healthcare industry, today announced record third quarter results and building adoption for HealthcareSource's established Position Manager® and Performance Manager® and new Physician Recruitment Manager℠ and Interview Manager℠ solutions.

"Each quarter we continue to deliver solid revenue and growth results," said Peter Segall, CEO of HealthcareSource. "Our third quarter was no exception as strong market demand for our Position Manager and Performance Manager solutions persisted with the increasing focus healthcare organizations have on talent acquisition and retention. We are also seeing strong interest in our new Physician Recruitment Manager product – a new addition to our portfolio during the quarter through our acquisition of Medearc – as hospitals' talent acquisition needs extend beyond healthcare staff to the physicians and specialists in such high demand today. We also had a number of sales for Interview Manager, a video interviewing solution we introduced earlier this year."

HealthcareSource has added a number of new hospital clients, including regional health centers and large enterprise health delivery systems. Clients who purchased Position Manager, Performance Manager, Interview Manager or Physician Recruitment Manager during the third quarter include: Albemarle Hospital, Asante Health System, Ashland Community Hospital, Baptist St. Anthony's Health System, Bon Secours Health System, Butler Memorial Hospital, Children's Health System, Eisenhower Medical Center, Gila River Health Care, Glens Falls Hospital, Hannibal Regional Medical Center, Holzer Medical Center, Home Health Visiting Nurses (Maine Health), Methodist Health System, Palmetto Health, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Southern Ohio Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center, Swedish American Health System, Trinity Mother Francis, UMass Memorial Health Care, University of Kansas Hospital, Vanguard Health Management,

William Backus Hospital, and Yale-New Haven Hospital.

What HealthcareSource Clients are Saying

Baptist St. Anthony's (BSA) Health System is a comprehensive healthcare system located in Amarillo, Texas and serving the Texas Panhandle and surrounding areas. BSA employs more than 2,700 people and has a medical staff of more than 450 physicians. Nationally acclaimed for its excellent quality, outstanding customer service and advanced technology, BSA has received many prestigious awards, including a patient safety award from HealthGrades, which named BSA one of the nation's top performing hospitals for patient safety for the 4th year in a row. As a leading regional employer of choice, BSA fields between 800 and 1,000 employment applications a month.

"As the area's fourth largest employer, we receive a high volume of employment applications every month," said Cheryl Jones, human resources, BSA. "Before HealthcareSource Position Manager, we devoted most of one full time employee to inputting each application by hand and to manually tracking each application's status. Now we can eliminate this tedious manual process and give our human resources staff more meaningful work while getting qualified applicants to the hiring managers more quickly. We anticipate that this will improve both our hiring and retention rates and enable us to continue our tradition of outstanding customer service."

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center is a 128-bed, not-for-profit, regional hospital centrally located in East Central Illinois' Coles County. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and provides a full range of acute care services to residents of Coles County and the surrounding six counties. Active and consulting medical staffs include approximately 145 providers representing 28 specialties. The facility employs about 1,600 area residents and promotes a culture of excellence through continuing personal and professional growth.

"HealthcareSource Performance Manager enables us to have a systematic method of ensuring that our employees understand and meet their performance appraisal goals, maintain their competencies, and engage in learning opportunities," said Deborah Williams, human resources director, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Board Certified Expert Witness in Administrative and Malpractice Actions Involving California Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Drug and Alcohol Counselors, and Addictions Treatment Specialists

Board Certified Expert Witness in Administrative and Malpractice Actions Involving California Marriage and Family Therapists, Clinical Social Workers, Drug and Alcohol Counselors, and Addictions Treatment Specialists.

Federico Grosso, DDS, PhD, MFT, BCFE is a board certified forensic expert helping California attorneys litigate and defend malpractice actions involving MFTs, LCSWs, CADCs, and CATS. He also has seved in national cases in malpractice actions involving dentists accused of child abuse arising from treatment in the workplace. His extensive forensic experience, his publications, lectures, and clinical experience make him an effective expert witness. He has been involved in major cases where has been successful in helping attorneys obtain desired results.

SANTA BARBARA, CA (PRWEB) May 21, 2004 -

— Federico C. Grosso, DDS, PhD, MFT, BCFE reported that he has been involved as a forensic expert witness in several major malpractice cases where he has been successful in presenting the legal and ethical standard of care for these clinicians. Dr. Grosso has been recognized by several malpractice attorneys for his ability to readily identify the strengths and weaknesses of malpractice and administrative cases and help them prepare for the “worst case” scenario. Thus, he helps attorneys avoid being blind-sided by issues not previously identified. As an author of several academic texts on California legal and ethical applications for the above mentioned clinicians, Dr. Grosso’s profound knowledge of clinical applications help defense and litigant malpractice attorneys strengthen their legal premises. In a recent major case, his in-depth knowledge and applications of legal and ethical standards helped a defense attorney stop a malpractice case against a licensed mental health clinician by way of a summary judgment with resulting saving of time, energy, and money.

Dr. Grosso is a firm believer in the concept of “safe clinical practice.” He defines this type of practice as one where the clinician is fully aware of the legal requirements mandated by his or her license, the ethical standards dictated by applicable professional organizations, the maintenance of personal clinical objectivity, and an understanding of the implications of legal and ethical decisions on his or her clinical practice. Legal experts also call this type of practitioner as a “reasonable and prudent” clinician.

Dr. Grosso uses a series of Interactive Online and Self-Study Courses, academic and clinical publications, practical clinical software, and statewide lectures for marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, alcohol and drug abuse counselors, and certified addictions treatment specialists to enhance the development of a safe clinical practice. These clinical resources are available from http://www. fgrosso. com (http://www. fgrosso. com).

In a recent presentation to new clinicians, Dr. Grosso stated that based on his court experience as an expert witness, most mental health clinicians make the following clinical mistakes: a) poor or no documentation of their therapeutic duty to assess, diagnose, and treat according to the standards of care; b) having inappropriate scope of competence (the training, knowledge, and experience) to treat the presenting issues, c) not staying current with changes in legal and ethical guidelines in their practice; d) not using an appropriate informed consent document to notify the client of the potential risks and benefits of treatment; e) not assessing appropriately for risk factors that can lead to harm to self or others, f) unintentionally breaching client confidentiality, g) ending treatment inappropriately, h) not having or using a treatment plan to document proposed treatment or to assess the progress of treatment, i) entering into inappropriate relationships with clients (friendship or sexual relationships), and j) failing to manage crisis issues appropriately.

Dr. Grosso’s continuing experience as a forensic expert in malpractice cases led to the development of these resources. These cases have involved marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, drug and alcohol counselors, and certified addictions treatment specialists. Dr. Grosso commented in a recent lecture, “Many clinicians are unable to defend their clinical actions because they fail to document how they reasoned a specific clinical challenge. They are unable to show opposing attorneys their duty to assess, diagnose, and treat the client appropriately throughout the duration of therapy or counseling due to poor mental health records and/or lack of appropriate training in mental health law and their specific professional ethical standards. They often write little or no clinical information about the patient because of improper training. In other cases, they write too much information and when the mental health records are subpoenaed, the opposing attorney uses this excessive information to discredit the client and/or the treating clinician.” This leaves the door open for clients to sue their clinicians in these cases to recuperate losses suffered in these court cases. This is especially true for California drug and alcohol counselors who are not bound by the mental health laws of the state and continue to treat clients without this legal foundation of safety.

Dr. GrossoÂ’s earlier publications on psychotherapy standards of care have become benchmark guided to defending or litigating malpractice actions involving the above mental health clinicians. Attorneys find that the concepts presented in these publications are easily applicable to all mental health clinicians, whether licensed or unlicensed, and that these concepts, as presented in these publications, are easily understood by juries. Many universities continue to use these publications in their classes to help students develop a safe structure of documenting both mental health records and progress notes to avoid potential malpractice and administrative actions. These publications are available at http://www. fgrosso. com (http://www. fgrosso. com).

Background on FGrosso. com. FGrosso. com provides mental health clinicians with practical and easy-to-use clinical resources including practice enhancement workbooks, online and self-study continuing education, software, consultation as an expert witness, lectures, and academic publications. Dr. Grosso also provides expert witness services in malpractice actions involving marriage and family therapists, clinical social workers, alcohol and drug abuse counselors, certified addictions treatment specialists, and dentists accused of child abuse when providing treatment in the dental office. He also lectures for and consults with mental health organizations. He is an official lecturer on law and ethics and other subjects for the California Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

PARTICIPATING BANDS

"Carnival Ride" by COVEN 13

A concept album that reminds me heavily of things like

Savatage's rock operas and Metallica without the metal part.

The lead voice is so strong you expect the music to be the

Kill yourself kind, but it ain't. -- Ben Ohmart

"Weird" by CHIN HO!

This is a band that is perfect for taking advantage of

Today's digital online marketing opportunities. They are

Ready for the next step and just need the right push and a

Hefty budget so they can keep the bus filled with the right

Colored M&M's. -- Cowboy Surfer

"Alright Now" by EBONY RUN

20 minutes and 6 songs. Reminds me of Hootie a little - esp.

The bang up vocals that shout into 'Alright Now.' The cool,

Twisting guitar work at Least equals these lead vocals for

Entertainment value and supremacy. -- Ben Ohmart

"Cease To Be" by HAVEN

Take Eddie Vedder's passion, mix it with Nirvana's grunge,

Add a little of the Toadie's guitar and you've got the

Sounds of Myrtle Beach-based rock band Haven. Their debut

CD, "Cease To Be," is an amazing mix of tricky guitar

Playing and layers of sounds which create a unique blend

That really brings you into the midst of their songs. --

Daina Kazmaier

"Battle of Legends" by CHIVALRA

48 minutes of keyboard delight from David Flook, who calls

His one-man band Chivalra. The first thing that will strike

Your mind when listening to the first track is that you're

Playing a King's Quest game. -- Ben Ohmart

"Live To Die" by KHARMA ZHU

Awfully good EP with 5 songs and a strange intro. They are

Simply great players and Danny Marcus' voice is strong

Enough to carry such good stuff far. I like his overdubs as

Well. -- Ben Ohmart

"It's Just A Funk Thang" by CHRISTINA FASANO

Bass and horn and wah guitar build by layering vocals and

Party atmosphere. Of course the fact that words winding it

Up contain 'funk me, funk you, everybody sing / it's just a

Funk thang' help UH good. -- Ben Ohmart

"Volume" by GRÃœVIS MALT

Tons of people come together to produce a family explosion

Like this, and it shows on the carpet. Sprinkling a healthy

Supply of old record scratches, instrumental breaks, live

Tracks and rap, there's something for everyone here, if

You're on the soul side. -- Ben Ohmart

"Leaving" by MARINA

Her voice and mode of composition is much like Madonna in

The Erotica and Ray of Lights years, when she was sometimes

Given basically just a piano to work with. Gothic and

Beautiful. -- Ben Ohmart

"Pacific Ocean" by PAL SHAZAR

Pal female leads the alternative, personal rock album with

Lots of self-insights, memories and mistakes and joys she's

Collected through life. She also manages to get sex into

Everything. Her sexual mode of vocals can turn an ordinarily

Innocent phrase into an insinuation full of breath and

Regretted promise. -- Ben Ohmart

"Gone" by EPSTEIN'S MOTHER

High energy and plenty of soul here from Vegas-based quartet

"Epstein's Mother." Sounding a little like Matchbox 20

(specifically the vocals) meets the Goo Goo Dolls, this band

Is tight and put together perfectly. -- Daina Kazmaier

"Kawanga!" by LOS STRAITJACKETS

Every tune on this entire album deserves recognition, and I

Actually can't pick out the best. The band is consistently

Tight with their instrumentals, the music is always upbeat,

And all in all, Los Straitjackets are just seeping with

Energy. They don't need lyrics to get their feelings across,

It's all in the music! -- Daina Kazmaier

"Welcome to Hip Hop Country" by GEORGE LEE JR. & THE CRAZED COWBOYS

I don't know if the first thing I think of when listening to

This is hip hop, but it shore is country. You see, these

Crazed guys replace beat for twang, and I think that's the

Key to understanding. -- Ben Ohmart

"Appreciate" by TOM MARSHALL & CO.

This here's the lyricist for Phish, one of the oddest bands

Around really. Their cover of the entire Beatles' White

Album is still a cult classic oft-bootlegged. Well, in the

Closet with another backing band, Tom comes up with 16 songs

Of varying spots and colors. No, the cd isn't sick, just

Diseased from mainstream ignorance. -- Ben Ohmart

"#6" by GOD THE BAND

I believe they call themselves psychedelia, and of course

There's a huge chunk of 60s in there, but it also moves into

Progressive music, because the formula of what they produce

Is much more complex (and interesting) than most rock songs

Which keep to a more recognized mode of creation. I love

This group!! -- Ben Ohmart

"Seven Devils" by ROCKENFIELD/SPEER

Smooth, kick-ass, full of wonder (especially things like

'River of No Return'), electronic, surreal craft, busy

Beauty: in mostly 4+ minute songs, allowing you to get your

Head right around the entire musical landscape, as it's

Painted for you. Sweet, sweet music, well suited to your

Adventure game, or some great blue sky day when you only

Have the time to listen. -- Ben Ohmart

New BreathePure® Nasal Air Filters May Safely and Effectively Prevent Sneezing and Itchy, Watery Eyes By Filtering Out Pollen, Dust and Other Airborne Irritants

New BreathePure® Nasal Air Filters May Safely and Effectively Prevent Sneezing and Itchy, Watery Eyes By Filtering Out Pollen, Dust and Other Airborne Irritants

Laboratory Tests Show Inexpensive, Disposable Nasal Filters Remove Up to 97 Percent of Most Airborne Particulates that Can Cause Reactions

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (PRWEB) May 16, 2007

For millions of Americans, warmer temperatures and more time outdoors bring the discomfort of itchy, watery eyes, sneezing and runny noses. Now a new product developed by a veteran inventor of ear, nose & throat products is providing consumers with an effective and inexpensive way to avoid breathing in airborne allergens such as pollen, dust mites, fungi, mold spores and pet dander. Convenient and easy-to-use BreathePure Nasal Filters are a proven approach for helping prevent exposure to impurities in the air at home, in the workplace, while traveling and outdoors.

“BreathePure is a practical, drug-free method for dealing with the seasonal and year-round annoyance of common reactions to pollen, spores and the hundreds of particles in the air we breathe,” said Richard Ambrose, president of BreathePure Healthcare LLC, a Santa Barbara, Calif. company specializing in innovative wellness products. “The reason BreathePure filters are so effective is that they stop most airborne allergens before they enter the respiratory system.”

According to tests conducted by an independent filter testing laboratory, the comfortable, lightweight foam nasal filters capture up to 97 percent of most particulates 7 microns or larger. This includes particles associated with pollen and dust mites, as well as a majority of particles from fungi and spores, human hair, household dust and pet dander.

“Unlike face masks which are uncomfortable and don't allow eating, drinking, or easy conversation, BreathePure filters are unobtrusive and won’t impede inhalation as they filter out particulates, even after hours of exposure to dust, pollen and other impurities,” Mr. Ambrose said.

Allergy Season Gets Longer Every Year

According to researchers at the School of Public Health at Harvard and the British National Pollen Research Center, studies indicate that allergy season now starts earlier, lasts longer and brings more intense reactions due to a lengthening of the growing season of weeds, grasses and trees. Doctors and allergists recommend a variety of strategies to avoid the inhalation of the airborne irritants that provoke symptoms ranging from sneezing, coughing and itchy, watery eyes:

Stay indoors in the morning, when pollen and mold counts are highest  Avoid yard work such as mowing the lawn and raking leaves  Keep windows at home and the workplace closed  Drive with windows rolled up; ensure your air filtration system is properly maintained  Clean, dust and vacuum frequently, especially the garage and attic  Wash your hair more often than usual to remove airborne particles

For most active people, it is simply impractical to follow all of these measures. The introduction of the BreathePure Nasal Filter now offers an inexpensive, drug-free solution for avoiding harmful and irritating airborne particulates while maintaining a normal lifestyle.

BreathePure Nasal Filters provide a new approach for avoiding the pollen, dust and other irritants that cause millions of Americans discomfort.

Social inclusion and the SME - a Briefing by Article 13

Social inclusion and the SME - a Briefing by Article 13

As part of their ongoing programme Article 13, the leading corporate social responsibility experts, have released a briefing paper on Social inclusion and the SME on their website at www. article13.com

(PRWEB) November 20, 2002

A summary of the briefing follows

Social inclusion is about more than money. It is achieved when individuals or areas do not suffer from the negative effects of unemployment, poor skills, low income, poor housing, crime, bad health, family problems and limited access to services. SMEÂ’s make up 99% of the UK's businesses, 56% of its employment and 52% of its private sector turnover, and as such collectively have huge potential to promote social inclusion.

What can SMEs do?

Government, trade associations and visionary companies are increasingly concerned about how to engage the SME in Corporate Social Responsibility activities, while many SMEs are quietly doing great work in the area.

What do they get from it?

A recent report on SME activity found that working towards social inclusion had the following benefits for the SME:

Improved relationships with key stakeholders such as staff, customers, suppliers and the local council Using community involvement to raise public awareness for future business gain, through PR and word of mouth Being known as a company that is committed to the local area, particularly through employment practices For more on this topic and other issues relating to corporate social responsibility and its link to innovation, visit www. article13.com

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Supports Clinical Trials of Population CouncilÂ’s Lead Candidate AIDS-Fighting Microbicide Council celebrates 50th year with announcement of its largest clinical trial to date aimed at developing a powerful new HIV - p

A seaweed-based gel, developed to help women prevent HIV/AIDS transmission, is ready for full-scale clinical trials later this year. Thanks to support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Population Council, the non-profit research organization that developed the compound, will now work with collaborators to test it in southern Africa.

(PRWEB) February 7, 2002

NEW YORK (7 February 2002)—The Population Council announced that it plans to begin the clinical trials of its lead candidate microbicide, CarraguardTM, by the end of 2002. A $20 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, announced Saturday, will provide a substantial part of the funding needed for this large-scale study of 6,000 women in southern Africa.

Microbicides are products designed to substantially reduce transmission of HIV, and possibly other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), when used in the vagina or rectum. If proven effective, such products will offer a powerful new prevention tool in the fight against AIDS. A pioneer in this effort, the Population Council in 1986 began the study of HIV transmission, which resulted in a major microbicide product-development effort in the early 1990s. It is now one of the first organizations to launch a full-scale, Phase III trial to test the effectiveness of a candidate microbicide gel.

AIDS experts are increasingly acknowledging microbicide development as a critical prevention approach. “We are thrilled that the Gates Foundation has recognized this potential. Many women cannot ensure the monogamy of their sexual partners, nor can they always negotiate condom use,” said Linda Martin, president of the Population Council. “And the development of a vaccine has not gone as quickly as we all had hoped.” Population Council researchers aim to develop a microbicide that will be widely available, stable across temperature ranges, and affordable even to the world’s poorest women.

A comprehensive, cross-functional effort, this research began in the CouncilÂ’s laboratories as an investigation of the sexual transmission of HIV. The next step was to translate this basic science

Population Council microbicide programÂ…page 2

Into a viable product—a process in which the Council has a strong track record. Tests of preliminary formulations in the laboratory indicated potential effectiveness. As lab work was progressing, a

Group of the CouncilÂ’s clinical and social scientists worked to raise awareness among public and private sector leaders about the need for microbicides. They collaborated with other experts to examine womenÂ’s and menÂ’s willingness to use such a product and their preferences for how it might be dispensed. The findings of this field research informed the work of the biomedical teams, resulting in this promising formulation. Council researchers and collaborators have conducted safety trials on Carraguard in South Africa, Thailand, the U. S., and four other countries to ensure it is safe and acceptable for women.

Council scientists are now actively preparing for a Phase III trial that will test CarraguardÂ’s effectiveness in preventing the transmission of HIV and other STIs. With this grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and funds yet to be raised, recruitment for the trial will begin in the second half of 2002. It is slated to be a randomized, controlled, double-blind trial among 6,000 women in southern Africa. The Council proposes to collaborate with the U. S. Centers for Disease

Control and Prevention (CDC), the University of Cape Town, and the Medical University of Southern Africa. Researchers anticipate that the Phase III trial will last approximately four years, and that results will be available in 2006.

Other funding for the CouncilÂ’s microbicide work has come from the National Institutes of Health; the U. S. Agency for International Development; the Rockefeller, Mellon, and Hewlett Foundations; the Parthenon Trust; the Swedish International Development Cooperative Agency; and the U. K. Department for International Development. This is the third grant supporting microbicides research to the Population Council from the Gates Foundation.

The Population Council is an international, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that seeks to improve the well-being and reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and to help achieve a humane, equitable, and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Council conducts biomedical, social science, and public health research and helps build research capacities in developing countries. Established in 1952, the Council is governed by an international board of trustees. Its New York headquarters supports a global network of regional and country offices.

Canadian Market Sizzling Over Hot Pepper Nasal Spray

Canadian Market Sizzling Over Hot Pepper Nasal Spray

When “Sinus Buster” hot pepper nasal spray was first introduced to Canadian consumers in mid 2005, it became an instant hit. Within 6 months, Sinus Buster went from retail obscurity to being featured on the shelves of more than 300 stores throughout Canada.

Albany, NY (PRWEB) March 13, 2006

When “Sinus Buster” hot pepper nasal spray was first introduced to Canadian consumers in mid 2005, it became an instant hit. Within 6 months, Sinus Buster went from retail obscurity to being featured on the shelves of more than 300 stores throughout Canada. SiCap Industries, the company that manufactures Sinus Buster claims their unique product is well on its way to becoming the number one sinus & headache product in Canada.

“Last year we were getting so many internet orders and calls from customers in Canada that we knew this was an excellent market for us. Then we hooked up with S&D Enterprises up in Alberta. These guys started making calls and pounding the pavement, and it started taking off right away. Today our Canadian distributor is moving a lot more product than they were just 6 months ago. We’ve gone from zero stores in Canada to several hundred and growing. A lot of Canadians have chronic sinus and allergy problems and word spreads fast when you have a product that really works,” says Wayne Perry, president of SiCap Industries.

SiCap also credits a combination of major media exposure and radio commercials running on Sirius Satellite for the incredible growth of Sinus Buster throughout North America.

“We got featured in “First” magazine for women, and then we started running the Sirius radio spots. We got immediate results here in the states, but as soon as Canada began allowing airplay of the Stern 100 channel on Sirius, we saw a huge spike in Canadian sales. There’s no doubt Canadians are listening to Howard Stern and Sirius in large numbers. Our Canadian distributor gets calls everyday from new retailers who heard about Sinus Buster on Sirius,” Perry adds.

According to SiCap officials, the company expects to have Sinus Buster in nearly 800 Canadian retailers by the end of 2006, and more than 5,000 stores in the United States. So far, Sinus Buster is sold mostly in small health food shops throughout Canada with their biggest chain being Nutrition House with 75 stores. SiCap plans on increasing Sinus Buster's advertising exposure throughout 2006 to help support their fast growing army of Canadian retailers.

“We plan on supporting our Canadian retailers with as much gusto as we do our American retailers. They’re great people up there and they love Sinus Buster. We expect this product to become a household name in Canada before it does here in the states. It's a game of numbers. You’ve got 30 million people in Canada and 300 million here in America so we expect to reach all 30 million Canadians long before we can reach all 300 million Americans,” says Perry.

To find out more about Sinus Buster in Canada, visit the Canadian distribution website at www. sinusbuster. ca. To find out more about Sinus Buster in America, you can visit the manufacturer directly at www. sinusbuster. com. If you’re a Canadian retailer interested in carrying Sinus Buster in your store, you can also reach S&D Enterprises directly at (866) 705-0680.

A Second Chance At Life Inspires Woman To Save

A Second Chance At Life Inspires Woman To Save

A Sick and Abandoned German Shepherd Named “Chance, Whose Fate Was Bleak, Inspires Arizona Woman To Produce Line of Pet Products To Save His Life, While Helping Thousands Of Other Companion Animals

(PRWEB) December 1, 2004

Scottsdale, AZ December 1, 2004 – Faced with limited options to help a rescued German Shepherd a woman turns to doctors and veterinarians for help in producing a line of supplements to keep him alive. She ends up helping companion animals throughout the U. S.

“Sometimes in the face of suffering and desperation, a person’s will to make profound change is accomplished” says Swartz.

In December of 2001 Bobbi Swartz, of Scottsdale, AZ was called on by a fellow dog lover to rescue a large 3 year old German Shepherd who had been abandoned in an orchard in an agricultural area of Phoenix, AZ. He had been there for more than a week and was suspiciously not active, nor did he try to run away. The shelters and rescues were full, so the neighborhood women stepped in to help feed and provide water to him until Ms. Swartz arrived.

Within days the german shepherdÂ’s health problems became apparent. At his first vet visit two days his rescue, he was given a diagnosis - a serious heart defect and debilitating hip disease. The news was troubling but not enough to give up hope.

The options were limited. The veterinarian stated “he should be put to sleep”. “The connection I had with this beautiful dog was so profound that I knew in my heart euthanasia was not an option at this point…I had to give him a second chance.” says Swartz. In honor of her commitment to give him the life he deserved she named him “Chance”.

Chance as he struggled to lift himself and walk around. His tongue and gums were continuously blue from lack of oxygen, related to his heart condition. Conventional hip surgery was not an option for Chance as his heart was considered too weak to endure anesthesia, and yet he seemed to to want to give 100% despite his adversity. “He was so sweet and affectionate, and I felt he was unwilling to give up. Therefore, I would not” Swartz stated.

After months of trying every possible pain remedy and witnessing extremely uncomfortable side effects, Ms. Swartz embarked on a mission to save Chance from a life of suffering and to give him the freedom of living without pain. She and her best friend Steve began meeting with doctors and vets whose expertise would be crucial in developing an effective natural pain remedy to help Chance, without side effects which could worsen his already weakened heart.

The first breakthrough in the effort to help Chance was the formulation of Petaprin, a chewable, natural pain relief tablet for dogs. The positive results could be seen immediately. ”The very first day he took the Petaprin, Chance had a sparkle in his eye and you just could see how much better he felt” Swartz stated. Within months Chance was more mobile and active, and his once blue tongue had turned a healthier shade of pink. He was finally able to be active and playful, and enjoy life. Mission accomplished.

The experts attributed his amazing progress to the herbs and natural food sources within Petaprin. Among many ingredients in Petaprin, the herb White Willow Bark has been proven to reduce inflammation while the Green Lipped Mussel has been studied extensively for its benefits in rebuilding cartilage and joint fluid and blocking certain enyme pathways [COX2 5-LOX and 12-LOX] which cause inflammation. The ingredients in Petaprin are also gastro-protective, meaning they do not erode the stomach lining like many aspirins and prescription remedies.

Veterinarian Dr. Thom Myers who tested Petaprin in his veterinary clinic experienced the same amazing result with his own 14 year old Bassett, “Polka”, he is now the spokesperson for the company.

These days By Vets Only, Inc, www. byvetsonly. com, continues to expand their pet product line with the help of vets, chemists, and professional formulators. Currently the anti-anxiety product PetaCalm containing all natural herbs is available for dogs that are stressed or anxious. PetMulti Senior Formula is available for dogs that lack essential nutrients, an important part of healing and reducing premature aging.

The company plans to release 3 additional products by the end of 2004, they include a natural equine pain reliever in its final stage of testing, an herbal parasite product and PetaMint, a bad breath neutralizer for dogs, which is also currently in its final stages of testing. (Samples available to the press upon request).

By Vets Only happily delivers product to pet loving customers around the country. Each month Bobbi Jo and her partner receive testimonials from customers whose dogs have been given a new leash on life thanks to Petaprin. ”It’s amazing to be a part of something so wonderful and meaningful. Chance is a happy, healthy 5 year old dog and I’ve been able to provide others animals with the same quality of life. I’m living a dream.” Swartz says.

Ms. Swartz resides in Scottsdale, AZ with her best friend Steve, 3 rescued cats and 6 rescued dogs. When you call the home office you can often hear her “employees” barking in the background. “The customers appreciate the fact that I love making their pets healthier, and I appreciate the chance to do that for them.” says Swartz.

By Vets Only products are available online at www. byvetsonly. com

Proxim's Ultra-Secure WiMAX Product Family is Industry's First to Receive FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Certification

Proxim's Ultra-Secure WiMAX Product Family is Industry's First to Receive FIPS 140-2 Level 2 Certification

Secure Mobile Video Surveillance, Data Connectivity, and VoIP for Governments, Utilities, Financial Services, Healthcare and Enterprises

Silicon Valley, CA (Vocus) March 5, 2009

Proxim Wireless Corporation (http://proxim. com/) (NASDAQ: PRXM), a leading provider of end-to-end broadband wireless systems that deliver the quadruple play, today announced that the Proxim Tsunami™ MP.11 HS (http://proxim. com/products/mp11_hs/) (High Security) line of base stations and subscriber units are the first point-to-multipoint wireless broadband products to be certified with Federal Information Processing Standards Publications (FIPS) 140-2 Level 2 validation, meeting security requirements for cryptographic modules. FIPS 140-2 Level 2 (http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/FIPS_140-2) validation is a requirement for any cryptographic product which will be used in a U. S. government agency network, and meets the stringent security requirements of healthcare organizations, financial institutions and other highly secure enterprises.

“FIPS certification is paramount in our ability to sell the concept of using a broadband wireless network for Homeland Security applications,” said Tim Stewart, President of Netunwired, a provider of VoIP and wireless backhaul for broadband networks, and Senior Wireless Engineer for Avrio Group. “We find that for most city deployments, AES encryption on the radio interface has become commonplace in RFPs. However, for Federal deployments, the encryption must also be FIPS compliant to ensure that the highest security standards are maintained and sensitive data is not intercepted and deciphered.”

The Tsunami MP.11 HS product family provides governments, utilities, financial services, healthcare and ultra-secure enterprises with the industry’s first FIPS 140-2 level 2 compliant point-to-multipoint products in the 5.1-5.95 GHz, 4.9 GHz, 2.4 GHz, and 1.8 GHz frequency bands. Combining FIPS 140-2 level 2 compliance, advanced AES-256 encryption, and secure management to meet strict U. S. Federal Government standards as well as HIPAA (http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/HIPAA) requirements, the MP.11 HS is Proxim’s ultra-secure broadband wireless solution for wireless video, data connectivity, VoIP and mobility. Whereas competitors’ approaches to high security wireless broadband require multiple products to be bolted together to achieve FIPS 140-2 compliance and AES-256 encryption, Proxim is a truly integrated solution that offers these security features – as well as secure management – in one box.

“We have over 10 years experience in assisting our clients through the process of achieving FIPS 140-2 certification, and we have confirmed that Proxim’s Tsunami MP.11 HS line of products are the first point-to-multipoint wireless products on the market to achieve this critical certification,” said Matthew Appler, CEO, Corsec Security, Inc. “This FIPS 140-2 validation of Proxim’s MP.11 HS products provides the high degree of security, assurance and dependability mandated for all government deployments – while also exceeding the requirements of even the most secure enterprises.”

By combining this high security with the high throughput required for bandwidth-intensive video, the Tsunami MP.11 HS solution is appropriate for use in security video surveillance in ports, cities, and along transportation infrastructures. In addition, the products are designed to handle the specific challenges of delivering bandwidth-intensive video to mobile law enforcement vehicles, enabling mobile security patrol units to view wireless video surveillance in real-time. The Tsunami MP.11 HS enables this via new support of the governmental 1.8 GHz frequency while also enabling mobile roaming with seamless handoffs at speeds of up to 120 mph (200 km/hour).

Though the Tsunami MP.11 HS supports the 1.8 GHz governmental frequency and meets or exceeds FIPS standards with the performance needed for real-time wireless video, the Tsunami MP.11 HS is effective for much more than just governments. The Tsunami MP.11 HS is also ideal for any and all non-governmental organizations in need of highly-secure broadband wireless solutions, and the new product family is available immediately for all customers globally. This means that all enterprises and organizations concerned with deploying ultra-secure point-to-multipoint wireless systems now have access to Proxim’s MP.11 HS solution.

The FIPS 140-2 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC). Already mandated by law in the U. S. and very strictly enforced in Canada, FIPS 140-2 is also currently being reviewed by ISO to become an international standard. The standard provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be purchased by a government agency.

Proxim Makes it Easy with GSA Inclusion

The General Services Administration (GSA) Schedules program establishes long-term, government-wide contracts with commercial firms to provide access to commercial products and services. This contract can be utilized by any federal agency and in many cases by state and local governments as well. The Tsunami MP.11HS product is being added to the GSA Schedule and can be purchased through authorized GSA resellers by federal, state and local governments directly without the need to go through a lengthy RFP process which would otherwise be required. Additionally, agencies can easily search for and purchase other Proxim products online using the GSA Advantage website by visiting: http://www. gsaadvantage. gov/ (http://www. gsaadvantage. gov/). For more information on how to become eligible to purchase products from the GSA schedule, contact Proxim at 1 800-229-1630.

Dan The Smoothieman of Juice Gallery Multimedia, Asks: “Have You Had Your Carrot Juice Today?”

Dan The Smoothieman of Juice Gallery Multimedia, Asks: “Have You Had Your Carrot Juice Today?”

Drinking carrot juice is beneficial to your health.

(PRWEB) April 23, 2005

Dan Titus, of Juice Gallery Multimedia is often asked: “How can I change my diet?” His response is always: “Don’t change your diet; change your lifestyle. Start by drinking fresh-squeezed carrot juice.”

The word diet means temporary in the minds of most people because they equate the meaning with weight loss. The diet starts and it ends. So begins the classic New Year’s resolution pledge of losing X number of pounds, to be accomplished through drastic diet change. Once people have met their goal – or quit because they get discouraged – they go back to old eating habits. This is the primary reason for the yo-yo affect – weight loss and rapid weight gain.

Commit to a Lifestyle Change

Set achievable goals that can be realized, which will motivate and help keep you focused. Keep good changes, get rid of bad changes: Change only one thing at a time. Resist the temptation to change diet and start an exercise program at the same time. Make one change at a time, and see what that change does for you. This way you will know what is working and what is not working for you. Replace your usual lunch with juice: Drink 12 to16 ounces of fresh-squeezed carrot juice for two weeks. Then, measure your results. If you are like me, you will notice a marked increase in energy and your weight will begin to stabilize. Carrot juice is rich in Beta-Carotene. This nutrient is an antioxidant, which are vitamins that help to mop up harmful molecules called free radicals in the body. Free radicals are toxic substances that are produced by cells. The body converts Beta-Carotene to vitamin A, which is necessary for healthy skin and mucous membranes and are the body's defense against invading micro-organisms. Get fresh-squeezed carrot juice at any juice and smoothie bar in your area: Jamba Juice, Juice It Up!, Juice Stop or Robeks Juice, for example. Or consult you local yellow pages for a juice bar nearest to you. Make juice at home: Get the books, Smoothies! The Original Smoothie Book, Smoothies! The Original Smoothie Book: Volume 2, or Smoothies! The Original Smoothie Books: Special Bundled Set, by Dan Titus. Available at book stores and Amazon. com

'Miracle Moms' Authors Launch Social Media and News Website - Offers Hope to Six Million Women Suffering from Infertility

'Miracle Moms' Authors Launch Social Media and News Website - Offers Hope to Six Million Women Suffering from Infertility

The authors of 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain' prepare for their September 15 book publication and announce the launch of their social media and news site on adhesions, infertility, sexual dysfunction, and pain.

Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) September 10, 2009

'Miracle Moms' co-authors Larry and Belinda Wurn, recognized leaders in non-surgical treatment for female infertility and chronic adhesion pain, launch www. miraclemoms. net. This new site is geared towards news and online social connections about subjects in their upcoming book, 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain: A Remarkable Journey in Hands-on Healing for Infertility, Pain, Sexual Dysfunction, and Adhesions.'

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, an estimated six million women in the US experience infertility, and that number is growing. Ovulation problems account for a big part of female infertility; warning signs include irregular or absent menstruation. Adhesions and blocked fallopian tubes are also major causes of infertility. Fallopian tubes can become blocked by adhesions after surgery, trauma, infection, or inflammation.

Adhesions can form whenever the body heals from infection, inflammation, surgery or trauma. Pelvic and abdominal surgeries such as laparoscopy, C-section or D&C are primary causes of adhesions. Traumas such as auto accident, fall, or abuse also cause adhesions. Infection and inflammation (endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or STD) can all cause adhesions to form in the bowel or female reproductive organs. As adhesions grow, they can restrict normal body function and cause pain and dysfunction, including nearly half of all female infertility.

"We have already featured three ebooks at miraclemoms. net and plan to offer more," says Co-Author Larry Wurn, LMT and Director of Clinical Studies of Clear Passage Therapies. "These ebooks are free to our website guests and cover chapters directly from 'Miracle Moms' on blocked fallopian tubes (http://www. miracle-moms. com/category/blocked-tubes), endometriosis pain (http://www. miracle-moms. com/adhesions/miracle-moms-e-book-chapter-17-endometriosis-pain), endometriosis and infertility (http://www. miracle-moms. com/infertility/miracle-moms-e-book-chapter-7-endometriosis-and-infertility), and coming soon, surgical and bowel adhesions (http://www. clearpassage. com/small-bowel-obstruction. php)."

'NY Times' best selling author Christine Northrup, MD wrote the Foreword. Physicians and authors from Harvard, Columbia, Northwestern medical school, and more join her in praising 'Miracle Moms'.

"Your work is a Godsend," says Dr. Northrup. "A heartfelt thank you for providing women all over the world with such a safe, natural, and effective therapy to enhance fertility and pelvic health."

Co-Author Belinda Wurn, PT, Clinical Director of Clear Passage Therapies says, "We hope miraclemoms. net will become a resource for people to learn and connect on topics focused on infertility, adhesions, and related health issues."

'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain' will be published September 15, 2009 and available online and in bookstores for $29.95. A special authors' online discount will be available for guests of www. miraclemoms. net for $24.95.

'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain: A Remarkable Journey in Hands-on Healing for Infertility, Pain, Sexual Dysfunction, and Adhesions' by Belinda Wurn PT, Larry Wurn, LMT with Richard King, MD. Original edition. 6 x 9" with 704 pages, 110 illustrations. ISBN 9811868. $29.95.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 15, 2010

OnMessage™, a Dallas-based integrated advertising agency, today announced that it has received five 2010 Davey Awards. With thousands of entries from across the United States and around the world, the Davey Awards honor the finest creative work from the best small firms, agencies and companies worldwide, working without the benefit of multimillion-dollar budgets.

The fifth Silver Davey Award was received for the agency’s “Green Christmas” video greeting card.

"We take great pride in winning these awards because they validate that our team can produce the highest quality work, even when faced with the considerable budget constraints companies have dealt with this year," said Jim O'Gara, president and founder of OnMessage.
