Gadgets with get up and go - the new generation of electric bikes

Gadgets with get up and go - the new generation of electric bikes

Electric bikes used to be ugly, heavy and poorly engineered. In a word, clunky. But the latest generation of advanced Japanese electric bikes has hit the streets, and they're set to take charge of the emerging ebike market.

(PRWEB) June 28, 2004

The very latest electric bikes combine essential features like long battery life, lightweight, folding frames and eyecatching looks. Now they're set to claim a big slice of a market that's still dominated by clunky, overweight monster machines.

The last generation of e-bikes were often little more than cheap bicycle frames that happened to have motors and batteries bolted on. Trying to carry one of these unweildy machines up a flight of stairs might lead to you taking a trip inside of an entirely different sort of motor-powered vehicle - an ambulance.

Fortunately, Japanese manufacturers quickly saw that building a better electric bike would prove popular with the thousands of people who want to get back into cycling, for their commute or just for fun.

In 2001, Honda announced their Step Compo bike, a "neat, light and devastatingly stylish" machine according to AtoB magazine (www. atob. org. uk) that draws on motorcycle and aviation technologies. Its eyecatching looks and light aluminium alloy frame put it years ahead of other electric bikes and thousands of Japanese commuters use them to whizz through their busy cities.

Since then, there has been rapid and radical progress and now 50cycles (www.50cycles. com), a London-based company with a firm grasp of what's hot in e-cycling, has introduced the latest and greatest folding ebike to the UK market - Panasonic's WiLL electric bicycle.

Tim Snaith, UK head of 50cycles, explains what sets this 2004 model apart: "like all next-generation folding electric bikes, it's light, compact, attractive and enormous fun to ride. But unlike any other production model it comes with a Lithium ion battery - just like the long-lasting batteries you'll find in modern laptop computers, but even more powerful.

"It'll take you twice as far as our Honda bike, despite weighing ten kilos (about 22 pounds) less than even the lightest old-style machine."

"It's an electric bike you can take everywhere," he concludes.

As a one-time commuter himself, Tim Snaith is a firm advocate for quicker, more enjoyable ways of getting from door to desk that avoid the London Underground network during the rush hour (or during a strike). When you weigh the price tag of £995 (and the few pennies of mains electricity it takes to recharge) against the cost of motoring or using public transport in a congested city like London, regular electric cycling soon pays for itself. And the health benefits and sheer thrill of saving time and reclaiming your freedom are hard to quantify, but just as important.

So next time you're stuck on the tube or bus, with only your 3G surroundsound ipod-enabled videophone for company, think about this: the gadget you really need has enough get-up-and-go to free you from the stress of public transport and congestion forever.

Kick-Start Healthier Living with a Better Way to Cleanse

Founded by two women from Newport Beach, CA, Ritual Cleanse is the first organic raw juice cleanse company in Orange County. Through combining the power of nature’s organic produce with man’s most innovative juicer Marra St. Clair and Lori Kenyon developed a system that they believe is purer and healthier than any other cleanse on the planet.

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2010

After nearly a year of research and development Ritual Cleanse is taking the market by sweet, juicy storm. The launch of the company website (www. RitualCleanse. com) in March of this year makes this breakthrough in organic cleansing accessible to all health conscious consumers throughout the US.

All juices are freshly pressed in the Ritual Cleanse kitchen. Every detail of Ritual Cleanse is geared towards healthy people and healthy planet, from the juicers and produce to the bottles and coolers.

The juicers used at Ritual Cleanse are estimated to extract at least four times more nutrients than centrifugal juicers used in most juice bars and homes. The organic produce contains 20-50% more nutrients than inorganic fruits and vegetables. Ritual Cleanse bottles are 100% biodegradable and the reusable coolers are made from 100% recyclable materials.

Lori Kenyon remarks, “Why bother to cleanse if you are introducing chemicals and pesticides into your body during the process? There are no additives, funky powders, or pills involved in Ritual Cleanse—just pure and tasty juice!”

Fitness enthusiasts themselves, Marra and Lori are committed to use nothing but the best and freshest organic foods available. It is also important to them that the cleanse provides enough energy to continue a workout program while enjoying the benefits of cleansing.

Ritual Cleanse’s Reset Cleanse floods your cells with vitamins and minerals that gently cleanse and heal your body without the harsh 'detox' symptoms associated with other products. The Shred component provides enough extra nutrition to add fuel for training and workout regimens.

Ritual Cleanse is designed to benefit everyone from elite athletes to couch potatoes, from raw foodies to fast foodies. Whatever category you fall into, whether you're an avid cleanser or a first timer, Ritual Cleanse makes juice cleansing a simple and rewarding experience. The juice may be picked up in Orange County at the Ritual Cleanse kitchens in Irvine, CA, or delivered via overnight FedEx anywhere in the U. S.

Marra St. Clair reports, “So far the results have been extraordinary. Cleansers report weight loss, glowing skin, increased energy, better mood… and the list goes on.”

All in all, Ritual Cleanse is definitely the better way to cleanse.

About Ritual Cleanse

Ritual Cleanse was born from the idea that there must be 'A better way to cleanse'. The company’s mission is to provide a superior, fresh pressed, 100% organic vegetable and fruit juice cleanse packaged in environmentally sound materials and simple enough for busy people to integrate into their lives.

Force Optical Broadcast Systems Introduces Smart IFLs for Inter-facility Satellite L-Band and IF Transport

Force Optical Broadcast Systems Introduces Smart IFLs for Inter-facility Satellite L-Band and IF Transport

Force Smart IFL (TM) transmitters and receivers are ideal for short range (2 km) and medium range (12 km) L-Band and IF signal transport.

Christiansburg VA (PRWEB) February 18, 2005

Force Optical Broadcast Systems has developed a new Smart IFL family of L-Band and IF transport products. Ideal for short range (2 km) and medium range (12 km) systems, ForceÂ’s Smart IFLsTM provide excellent performance and system reliability. When used with ForceÂ’s SNMP-compatible 3RU power supplies and chassis, the Smart IFLs create a fully fail-safe redundant transport solution with web-based or SNMP monitoring and control of key system parameters.

The Smart IFL family of transport links offers 1310 nm or 1550 nm transmission over single-mode optical fiber. Link configurations include 3RU rack-mount transmitters and receivers, a 3RU rack-mount transceiver, and stand-alone configurations. A number of status indicator LEDs allow the user to quickly assess the health of the IFL link, and greater monitoring and control is available when the links are used with the Force Models 3000UB and 3000UD SNMP-compatible power supplies. These allow the user to access real time data for such parameters as module serial number and part number, system uptime, firmware revision, and fault status as well as RF level status, link-gain settings, optical status, optical input power, and optical output power, depending on the transport link. The SNMP-compatible power supplies also allow for the remote control of certain Smart IFLTM system parameters. This allows the user to detect system failures and correct operating parameters for optimum performance, all via an SNMP management tool. Signal transport options include:

L-Band 950-2500 MHz, 75 Ohm (Model 3034, 2 km; 3035, 12 km) L-Band 950-2500 MHz, 50 Ohm (Model 3029, 2 km; 3030, 12 km) IF 10-200 MHz, 75 Ohm (Model 3084, 2 km; 3085, 12 km) IF 10-200 MHz, 50 Ohm (Model 3079, 2 km; 3080, 12 km)

As the next generation of L-Band and IF transport, Force's Smart IFLs offer unparalleled performance at an unbeatable cost.

How can you immunize your child now against reading difficulty later?

How can you immunize your child now against reading difficulty later?

Reading difficulty in the U. S. is an epidemic problem that can have catastrophic consequences. A solution, based on years of comprehensive research, is finally available.

(PRWEB) December 7, 2003

Did you know that despite decades of huge government spending increases on literacy, reading performance has not improved in the last 20 years? In an average fourth grade classroom of 35 kids, 14 of them may already be struggling to keep up with their classmates because they canÂ’t read their text books. As many as 10 million children have trouble treading. Sadly, until now most attempts to help these children prevent this struggle have fallen short.

“Kids who can’t read suffer educationally, socially and emotionally. It can lead to catastrophic consequences later in life. And the worst part of this scenario is that we know how to prevent the problem, but too few parents are aware of the solution,” says Deme Clainos, President and CEO of StudyDog, a new comprehensive learning system designed specifically to help prevent children from becoming struggling readers. “With the right stimulation between the ages of four and six, most children can significantly improve their early reading skills and their chances of becoming successful readers.”

The innovative StudyDog online reading system, which targets kids between kindergarten and second grade, is based on two important sources. In 2000, the National Reading Panel, charged by Congress with consolidating valid research on how children learn to read, issued its report on what constitutes the most effective reading instruction. Second, recent brain research by Yale neuroscientists has shown that with the right stimulation over a period of time at an early age, even children diagnosed with dyslexia can make the necessary connections in the brain to read successfully.

The StudyDog online reading system is sold directly to parents. Unlike pre-packaged software systems, StudyDog uses a patent pending technology and analyzes an individual child’s reading level and skills, then modifies the manner in which the curriculum is administered and presented. The program uses video game-like graphics and compelling storylines to deliver its Five Keys for Reading Success™ in a unique way so that children stick with the program for an extended period – long enough to master the skills being taught.

The StudyDog system has been tested in elementary schools in Washington and Oregon, where participating children showed significant improvement in their reading skills. In the study, every child completing the StudyDog reading program improved reading skills, and in most skill areas every child achieved mastery. In most cases, a child can learn to improve their reading by one full grade level in eight to 12 weeks.

“Engaging children so they are motivated to stick with StudyDog over a period of months without placing an additional burden on parents is a unique advantage,” explains Dean Arrasmith, Ed. D, the company’s chief learning officer. “This occurs not only because the lessons are entertaining, but because the program is personalized for each child.”

Through an initial reading assessment, StudyDog tailors the course so that the instruction is just right for the childÂ’s reading level and skills. Although the online lessons are self-contained and children use them independently, each child also is assigned a StudyDog Reading Specialist to be their advocate, monitoring performance, adapting the course as needed, and giving weekly progress reports to parents and teachers. Children earn prizes as they progress, that can be ordered from an online store and mailed to their home.

“Parents are delighted with StudyDog not only because of its effectiveness, but because it actually fits into their busy lives,” says Clainos. “Because it is online, StudyDog is available any time and any place where there is internet access. Lessons are focused and are brief enough to fit into a tight schedule, taking just 15 minutes to complete each of three to five new lessons per week.”

“This type of reading help cannot be found in CDs and other software,” adds Arrasmith. “StudyDog doesn’t just hand materials to the parents. It maintains the responsibility for teaching each child, engaging them in lessons they can do independently, and assigning a reading specialist. The only other real alternative is a reading tutor, which can be time consuming and cost hundreds of dollars each month.”

By contrast, the StudyDog Reading Essentials program costs just $79.95 per month for beginning readers to develop into sound and healthy readers, which does wonders for their confidence and learning in all areas. For children who are currently more than one year behind their grade level, StudyDog developed the Reading Rescue program which costs $495 and will guarantee an improvement of at least one full grade-level regardless of how much time it takes (usually half the time it takes with tutors or learning centers). Parents purchase these programs directly from the StudyDog Web site. Because StudyDog and its corporate partners want to help all children succeed, a limited number of StudyDog scholarships are available to low income families. Teachers may submit a simple application on a child’s behalf through the StudyDog Web site, www. studydog. com. “We are fully committed to helping struggling readers at all income levels. We encourage corporations to support our scholarship program and help wipe out illiteracy in the United States one child at a time,” says Clainos.

The Future of Work: Engaging Employees to Drive Innovation

The Future of Work: Engaging Employees to Drive Innovation

Leadership expert, Will Marré, asserts that workplaces of the future will turn Corporate Social Responsibility into Personal Social Responsibility, which will increase employee engagement and spur strategic innovation. He presents evidence that most employees in the U. S. are not committed to their companies' goals because they don't reflect their personal values. His solution is for leaders to systematically train employees to use their own values to create profitable innovation.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 27, 2009

Leadership expert, Will Marré, exploded some powerful myths to an overflowing crowd of senior human resource executives and CEOs at the recent Employee of Choice Forum (see http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=Yt-DgeLILCY (http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=Yt-DgeLILCY)). He shocked the group by stating that companies have missed the point of employee motivation by trying to create "great places to work" instead of igniting motivation from the inside-out. Fred Noble, President of The Noble Group, said, "We need to implement these ideas in all industries."

Marré made his case for continuous sustainable innovation by citing statistics from his own American Dream Project (http://www. americandreamproject. org (http://www. americandreamproject. org)) research with over 20,000 Americans as well as new studies funded by fifty global companies called the Hidden Brain Drain Task Force (http://hbr. harvardbusiness. org/2009/07/how-gen-y--boomers-will-reshape-your-agenda/ar/1 (http://hbr. harvardbusiness. org/2009/07/how-gen-y--boomers-will-reshape-your-agenda/ar/1)) that reveals workers from Gen Y (20-32) to Boomers (50+) overwhelmingly need the same things to be fully committed to their employer's goals.

The research, according to Marré, has powerful insights. He stated, "Although there are many generations in the workforce and they are more racially and culturally diverse than in anytime in history, they all agree on three things." He continued, "Over 85 percent of workers want first, meaningful work that contributes to a better society and healthier environment--work they can be proud to do. Second they want flexible working arrangements including flextime and telecommuting. They want to be judged by results not face time. Third, they want personal growth driven by learning new skills and information."

Marré went on to make the case that most employees do not get these three things from their jobs so they are disengaged from company goals and priorities. In fact, according to Marré, there is a widely reported crisis in employee disengagement. The Towers-Perrin Global Workforce Study (http://www. towersperrin. com/tp/showhtml. jsp? url=global/publications/gws/key-findings_2.htm&country=global (http://www. towersperrin. com/tp/showhtml. jsp? url=global/publications/gws/key-findings_2.htm&country=global)) found that engagement has reached what many would call a crisis level encompassing over 70 percent of the workforce and over 50 percent of management. Marre stated, "The financial impact of disinterested employees appears to make many companies increasingly non-competitive with performance gaps in productivity, talent retention and profit margin lagging companies with committed workers by as much as 800 percent."

While the implications of disengagement are widespread, it is hard to combat because, according to Marré, it is impossible for companies to provide employees what they require to be fully engaged over time. What twenty-first century employees want, asserted Marré, is to be engaged in meaningful work that benefits society. This is the biggest driver of engagement. "Under the pressures of business downturns and disruptive competition," stated Marré, "even employees of greatly admired companies get cynical. They keep waiting for their leaders to do something magical while the real magic resides in themselves."

Marré continued, "It is time to enlarge Corporate Social Responsibility to Personal Social Responsibility." He pointed out that no one can promise employees an excellent, personally sensitive boss, friendly colleagues, adequate resources and meaningful work all of the time. Instead leaders must offer people a chance to make their own difference in the service of worthy business goals.

Furthermore, Marré contended that by empowering employees with their own Personal Social Responsibility, doors are opened. For instance, many of the best green initiatives and social innovations come from employees in the middle or the bottom of organizations. "The key," asserted Marré, "is training all employees to think and act in ways that add value to both our future and to our bottom lines. These are aligned goals," Marré insisted. "Meaningful work occurs when workers harness their strengths, interests and creativity to create real value. When that happens, a culture of innovation thrives and people do amazing things no matter what." Marré warned, however, that simply turning employees loose to perform "random acts of innovation" is not enough. He cited specific examples of how training workers to take strategic initiative to add value creates new products and services that drive growth.

Marré received an unusual standing ovation at the end of his remarks. The conference host, Sandy Asch, President of the Alliance of Organizational Excellence, said, "This was the most inspiring, practical roadmap to the future we could ever imagine."

HCGDietDallas. us | Top 3 Arguments That hCG Diet Does Not Lead to Weight Loss

HCGDietDallas. us | Top 3 Arguments That hCG Diet Does Not Lead to Weight Loss

The hCG diet has given hope to many people fighting their weight. Not surprisingly, naysayers have seen this hope and have taken it upon themselves to crush the dreams of these people who have found something to believe in. hCGDietDallas. us has compiled a list to defend the hopes, dreams and goals of hCG dieters.

Plano, TX (Vocus) September 9, 2010

The most common reaction hCG dieters face when explaining their weight loss plan to family and friends is, “you want to do what?!?!” In their defense, the hCG protocol is far from any typical weight loss plan. hCGDietDallas. us has compiled a short list to help hCG dieters defend against these often passionate debates.

Reason 1: “Anyone on a 500 calorie diet will lose weight”

Every single person that has ever used hCG for weight loss (http://hcgdietdallas. us) has heard this argument. Logic coupled with biophysics clearly proves this statement to be true. That being said, simply losing “weight” is not the primary objective with the hCG diet. The hCG diet accelerates abnormal fat loss by giving the body access to abnormal fat storages that are not accessible under normal conditions. Individuals eating 500 calories per day without the assistance of hCG risk massive muscle loss. Since your heart and other organs are muscles, eating 500 calories daily is not healthy and definitely not advisable to anyone.

One side-benefit of hCG is the natural production of testosterone in individuals who are deficient. There are many cases where hCG patients actually have gained muscle while losing large amounts of fat due to this side-benefit. A healthy, natural boost in testosterone would never occur with someone simply on a 500 calorie diet.

Reason 2: “Clinical studies indicate hCG does not influence weight loss”

This statement often comes from caring friends or family that did a little research. It is true that an overwhelming majority of clinical studies from 1960-present indicate that hCG is not effective for weight loss. However, comparing these clinical studies to the actual hCG protocol will lead to surprising results. By design, they deviated far enough from the hCG protocol to produce the result they want. In one particular, well-cited, anti-hCG clinical study they more than doubled the daily calorie consumption. Another clinical study deviated from the protocol and gave hCG injections (http://inshapemd. com) six days a week instead of seven, while no reason or explanation was provided.

Additionally, the hCG protocol is more a medical procedure then a diet. Injections must be given every single day at a specific time, and calorie consumption must strictly be adhered to. There is no other diet where eating a salted almond can set you back two pounds.

Reason 3: “I have read that hCG is dangerous.”

There are several websites out there that give a list of dangerous side effects. If hCG is as dangerous as these websites indicate then pregnant women would be dropping like flies. The hCG protocol recommends daily injections of 125 IU, and a pregnant woman produces approximately 10,000 times that amount daily. The side effects on these websites are often exhibited by any woman in her first trimester. Other side effects are commonly seen with any weight loss program.

EU YAN SANG (HONG KONG) LIMITED - TCM in SARS Aid Initiative

EU YAN SANG (HONG KONG) LIMITED - TCM in SARS Aid Initiative

Eu Yan Sang (Hong Kong) Limited today announces a series of community initiatives to use traditional Chinese medicine ("TCM") as an alternative option to help Hong Kong people prevent Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ("SARS").

(PRWEB) April 19, 2003

Hong Kong, April 17, 2003 - Eu Yan Sang (Hong Kong) Limited today announces a series of community initiatives to use traditional Chinese medicine ("TCM") as an alternative option to help Hong Kong people prevent Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ("SARS").

Ms Alice Wong, Managing Director of Eu Yan Sang (Hong Kong) Limited, remarked: "As one of the major TCM industry players rooted in the region, Eu Yan Sang is committed to using our expertise and resources in Chinese medicine to help Hong Kong people fight against this unprecedented outbreak. The TCM industry has a key role to play in supporting the efforts of the Government and academics in Hong Kong's anti-SARS battle."

The Institute of Chinese Medicine ("ICM") of The Chinese University of Hong Kong ("CUHK") yesterday started a research initiative to distribute, in stages, 40,000 free anti-viral TCM sachets to 2,000 interested front-line healthcare workers in the Prince of Wales Hospital and the HA hospitals in the New Territories East Cluster, with the endorsement from the Hospital Authority. Produced in a convenient form of granules, the innovative TCM formula aims to offer an option for SARS prevention and ICM will monitor the trial results.

Ms Wong continued: "We fully support this initiative led by Prof PC Leung, who has worked with various TCM experts in Hong Kong and China in developing this new anti-viral TCM formula. This is also a proactive and constructive move by the TCM industry to pay tribute to our front-line medical and nursing teams. The Chinese medical stream believes that prevention for healthy citizens is as important as treatment for patients. The use of herbal medicine, which is generally effective in improving health conditions and self-protective strengths of human beings, will help ease the pace of the outbreak."

Eu Yan Sang will initiate discussions with the ICM of CUHK regarding further support of this programme. "We will leverage our GMP-certified manufacturing facilities to further this initiative with a view to benefiting more people in the community," concluded Ms Wong.

As part of its TCM in SARS Aid initiative, Eu Yan Sang has also donated anti-viral TCM products to Kwong Wah Hospital and TVB for distribution to front-line medical and nursing staff, voluntary groups and disadvantaged citizens. Donations of anti-viral herbal medicine worth more than HK$500,000 have been made to date.

Skilled, Legal Immigrants To March In A Protest Rally In Silicon Valley

Skilled, Legal Immigrants To March In A Protest Rally In Silicon Valley

Hundreds of legal, highly-skilled workers, who feel disappointed by the recent "flip-flop" enacted by the Department of State (DoS) and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), with regards to eliminating the Green-Card processing delays, plan to stage a peaceful rally to bring attention to their issues and to demand a fair and equitable treatment. Where: The New City Hall 200 E Santa Clara St San Jose, CA 95113 When : July 14th, 2007, 11:00 AM

Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 14, 2007

Hundreds of legal, highly-skilled workers, who feel disappointed by the recent "flip-flop" enacted by the Department of State (DoS) and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), with regards to eliminating the Green-Card processing delays, plan to stage a peaceful rally to bring attention to their issues and to demand a fair and equitable treatment.

Where: The New City Hall 200 E Santa Clara St San Jose, CA 95113

When: July 14th, 2007.

Planned Route: 11:00 AM: Meet at San Jose City Hall at 200 E Santa Clara St. 11:30 AM: Go to the square in front of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (150 E San Fernando St). 12:30 PM: Walk towards 635 N 1st St through S 4th St, E San Carlos St, Market Street and N 1st Street. 1:15 PM: Arrive at 635 N 1st St and stay till 2:00 PM 2:30 PM: back to City Hall

Why: Silicon Valley is the world's most advanced crucible of innovation, an example that countries all over the world have tried to emulate. The success of Silicon Valley as a global hub of innovation has a lot to do with it being the world's foremost melting pot of highly skilled immigrants. In San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley, these highly skilled, legal immigrants who want to continue that tradition of innovation by becoming permanent residents of this country will stage a peaceful protest rally to bring awareness and attention to their issues. The people gathered at this peaceful walk are already huge contributors to the innovation edge of the US but their potential is still not fully tapped as it is still being hindered by unreasonable delays and bottlenecks in the process of gaining permanent residency (green-card).

With this effort, the skilled, legal immigrant community hopes to create awareness about their predicament and express their anguish and frustration at the reversal and the lack of action from the Government. These are the highly skilled workers who have been driving the innovation in the US for many decades and have been living in this country legally and yet, they feel that their issues, concerns and contributions to the economy have largely gone unnoticed. According to exhaustive research done by Vivek Wadhwa, executive-in-residence at Duke University, if highly skilled immigrants in the U. S. don't have a chance to stay here permanently, would-be entrepreneurs take their skills back to their home countries--where they compete with U. S. companies instead of founding them. There are 140,000 Green cards allocated for highly-skilled workers and their dependents in a fiscal year (unused visas may not be rolled over to the next year). However, due to over-subscription, thousands of highly-skilled workers, including engineers, scientists, MBAs and health care professionals have been waiting patiently for years in order to be eligible to apply for their Green cards.

Now, these highly-skilled professionals have decided to call attention to the "broken" immigration system in the U. S. for legal immigrants. Earlier this week - the community received widespread attention when hundreds of them sent flowers to the USCIS Director, Emilio Gonzalez. With the San Jose rally, the community of skilled, legal immigrants wants to put focus on people who have abided by the law, played by the rules and ask for a fair treatment and attention to their issues.

Topical Ibuprofen Avoids Oral Pain Medication Problems

Topical Ibuprofen Avoids Oral Pain Medication Problems

ViaDerm FMG tm, a patent-pending 'needle-free' delivery system, has been successful in pre-clinical trials for pain management, blood sugar control, hormonal response, and is now available for licensing.

(PRWEB) June 6, 2003

Health Science Solutions ['HSS']is an advanced health care products research and development company with a wide range of specialty formulations, many of which utilize the Company's flagship topical cream-based delivery system - ViaDerm FMG tm.

ViaDerm FMG is a new, proprietary, alcohol-free drug delivery platform that enables rapid and efficient absorption of active agents through the skin and other membranes. ViaDerm FMG emulsions are permeation enhancers that temporarily change the dynamics of the skin or other membranes so that active molecules can be rapidly absorbed through the skin or other membranes and into the body.

HSS, a wholly owned subsidiary of All Natural FMG, Inc. launched its first commercial pain relief product, IbuCream tm, in March, 2003. IbuCream tm avoids the gastro-intestinal problems associated with oral pain medications.

Developed over 8 years ago and supported with pre-clinical feedback by over 4,000 patients, IbuCream tm is an emulsion containing 10 % ibuprofen and 1% lidocaine. Apparent benefits are the by-passing of the stomach, small intestines and liver as well as using less than the oral dose of 200 mg ibuprofen when IbuCream tm is applied directly to the site of pain. General patient feedback points to rapid onset of pain relief that can last up to 4 hours or longer.

IbuCream tm is delivered through the skin via a patent pending emulsion, ViaDerm FMG: Serial # 10/412,626 – “Alcohol-free transdermal analgesic composition and process for manufacture and use thereof.” IbuCream tm is available by prescription only at Post Haste Pharmacy in Hollywood.

All Natural FMG, Inc. also owns patent-pending Serial # 10/412,637 – “Alcohol-free transdermal insulin composition and processes for manufacture and use thereof.” Both patents are scheduled to be granted in Spring of 2005.

All Natural FMG, Inc. is negotiating with a South Florida University to conduct clinical studies re safety and effectiveness of IbuCream tm, and it seeks investors who want to participate in furthering the applications of ViaDerm FMG with RX-to-OTC drugs.

21st Services Lowers the Price of its Online Longevity Analysis, the eCLPR, Through the End of 2009

21st Services Lowers the Price of its Online Longevity Analysis, the eCLPR, Through the End of 2009

The new online version of 21st Services' longevity report, called the eCLPR, is a unique financial planning tool and a valuable pre-screen in life settlement cases. It's available at half price - $30 - July 1 through December 31, 2009.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) July 6, 2009

21st Services, a leading longevity analysis firm and a provider of life expectancy evaluations to the life settlements industry, has announced a price reduction on the online version of its product, the eCLPR, for purchases made between July 1 and December 31, 2009. The product is available for $30 at 21stServices. com (http://www.21stservices. com).

This is a limited-time promotion to introduce the eCLPR to insurance and financial planning professionals and life settlement brokers.

Longevity insight from a company with actuarial and underwriting expertise

The eCLPR was added to 21st Services' product portfolio in February 2009. The company's flagship products are its Life Expectancy certificate and its Platinum CLPR (Customized Longevity Planning Report), both of which are based on a review of the clients' medical records by 21st Services' underwriters.

In contrast, the online eCLPR is based on responses to a questionnaire the client completes with information about their health and lifestyle. The result of the evaluation - the completed CLPR report - is available for download moments after the questionnaire is finished.

The eCLPR report displays the client's longevity curve compared to a standard mortality curve. The curve shows the client's median/average life expectancy, their projected maximum lifespan and the probability of living to various ages in between. Also included in the report is a discussion of health improvements the client could make and how much they might extend their longevity. A sample copy of the Customized Longevity Planning Report is at 21stServices. com (http://www.21stservices. com).

The eCLPR is designed to be used by financial planners, insurance professionals and life settlement brokers.

Reducing uncertainty in life settlement cases:

Life settlement brokers and providers use the eCLPR as a pre-screening tool in life settlement cases. At a low cost, the life settlement broker can order an eCLPR to help ascertain whether the client is likely to receive a purchase offer for his or her life insurance policy. If eCLPR results indicate that chances for an offer are good, the life settlement broker orders a full Life Expectancy certificate (LE) to submit to the policy purchaser as part of the closing documentation. But if chances are not good, the cost of the far more expensive LE certificate is spared.

New tool for financial planning and insurance sales:

While the longevity analysis is a familiar product in the life settlement market, it is relatively new to financial planners and insurance agents. Brad Bahr, Vice President of Sales for 21st Services, said, "We know financial professionals' clients, especially Baby Boomers and retirees, are very concerned about making sure their money will last as long as they do - especially after the damage that has been done in the past several months to their portfolios and savings. The eCLPR lets planners and agents get a truly scientific estimate of how long their clients' assets need to last - and get it through a convenient online process, at a very low cost."

Comparing results:

21st Services has conducted side-by-side tests comparing results of its traditional Life Expectancy analysis, based on the review of medical records, to CLPR results based on health and lifestyle information reported by clients themselves. 21st Services Chief Underwriting Officer Paul Kirkman said, "The CLPR results are very comparable. We feel that the self-reporting process yields a report that can be of great value in financial planning situations. And in a tighter life settlement market, getting an economical eCLPR is a good way for life settlement brokers to test the water. The broker won't get hopes up when there is little chance for the policy to find a buyer or get an attractive price."

Ada Wong, Finalist on NBC's "The Biggest Loser," Signs on to Represent Marathon Makeover

Ada Wong, Finalist on NBC's "The Biggest Loser," Signs on to Represent Marathon Makeover

Wong to lead nationwide online marathon training program

Clinton, MS (PRWEB) January 14, 2011

Marathon Makeover, one of America’s leading marathon training programs, has received the endorsement of Ada Wong, a finalist on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” Season 10. In addition, Wong will serve as national spokesperson for the organization and help lead their online training program.

“I’m excited to be a part of the incredible impact that Marathon Makeover is having across the country in leading people towards healthy living,” said Wong. “Marathon Makeover stands head-and-shoulders above other training programs. A major factor is that the program isn’t just focused on training people to run. It’s about transforming the whole person — mind, body and spirit.”

Wong, a 28-year-old native of Santa Clara, California, entered the “The Biggest Loser” competition at a weight of 258 pounds. She quickly became a fan favorite and during the show’s finale, which aired in December of last year, it was revealed she lost a total of 99 pounds through diet and exercise.

“We are thrilled to have Ada on the Marathon Makeover team,” said Mark Simpson, co-director of Marathon Makeover. “Her endorsement has multifaceted impact. It gives credibility to our approach, it provides a strong, nationally recognized image that embodies so much of what we are all about and it strengthens our online training program.”

This year Mississippi-based Marathon Makeover has expanded their reach by launching training teams in Texas, Oregon and Tennessee. In addition, with Wong’s help they are launching an all-new online program.

“I look forward to all that we can accomplish through the Marathon Makeover Online,” Wong commented. “I will be interacting with participants on a regular basis and look forward to seeing their results and providing support as they meet and exceed their goals.”

In addition, Wong says that a major strength of Marathon Makeover is the support structure that it offers.

“It makes losing weight and developing a healthy lifestyle all the more difficult when you don’t have a people around you cheering you on. I never had this before ‘The Biggest Loser.’ I quickly realized the major role it plays in your success. This type of support is the foundation of Marathon Makeover.”

Those interested in becoming part of Marathon Makeover can enroll online and either join the online training team or sign up to be a part of a local group. Details on the kick-off of their 2011 season, program cost and other details are available online at marathonmakeover. com.

Treasure Hunting in Traffic Jams

Treasure Hunting in Traffic Jams

A recent study showed only 34% of Americans say they are happy. Urban Wealth SOGR proposes commuters take forty minutes a day to mine their inner treasures and design a more rewarding life.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) April 2, 2006

When was the last time traffic jam made someone rich and happy? Urban Wealth SOGR wants to co-pilot people's next high tension traffic experience and jam them up with thoughts of unlimited success and a richer more fulfilling lives self - designed from within. Do people know there is an architect inside?

Founder, LeTicia Lee believes that each time peopl play the 40-minute power packed Urban Wealth SOGR audio book, they get closer to the ideal life they didn’t know they deserved. Lee believes there really is more to this life and who better to know those needs than the one living it.

According to the Pew Research Center of Washington, D. C. (February 13, 2006), only 34% adults say they are happy. Approximately half say they are pretty happy and 15% say they are not too happy. Approximately 49% of folks with income of $100,000 or more say they are very happy while 24% of those with income less than $30,000 are very happy.

People who attend church frequently are happier, 43%, compared to 31% who attend church monthly or less and those who seldom if ever attend 26%. More Blacks 23% say they are unhappy as opposed to 12% whites. People under pressure are less happy than those who are not. People living in the suburbs are a bit happier than city dwellers and Sunbelt state residents are a bit happier than those in cold climates. 55% of people who aren’t in good health say they are not happy.

So what does this all mean during the next bumper-to-bumper car experience? Lee says, “It’s just about using that time constructively. Instead of fretting over the fifty cars ahead of you dealing with the same experience – why not just relax and participate in a life changing experience? It may lead to a healthier life, a job or career better tailored to your needs, or even a new location. Each person is different.”

She agrees there are a lot of programs out there but she attests to the books she has written and the private label cosmetic company – Lip Scents, Inc she has since formed in her own life. LeTicia says she plays the audio book daily herself and condensed it specifically for the busy or distracted urbanite who doesn’t have two hours to commit to listening to a self help audio book each day – even though it will make their lives easier.

“Forty minutes was a good compromise”, Lee affirms. “Each day, listeners come up with an epiphany. The contents are not new – but the dynamic yet soothing forty minute approach is.” Lee proposes that drivers and commuters put on their headsets or slip in their CD’s and experience a treasure mine of greatness they never knew was available to each of them.

The book inspired Lee to move out of bustling New York City, write a book, and develop an international luxury private cosmetic label. Audiences can find the Urban Wealth SOGR audio book online through Lulu Press http://www. lulu. com/content/255416 (http://www. lulu. com/content/255416) for $18 or visit the official Urban Wealth SOGR website at http://www. urbanwealthsogr. com (http://www. urbanwealthsogr. com) and save for a limited time. Visit Urban Wealth SOGR online for details.

Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers - Fish for the Future

Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers - Fish for the Future

GLASGOW, U. K. (PRWEB) October 23, 2005

At a meeting in Glasgow on Friday 14th October the Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers laid the foundations for a new forward looking strategy, based around central themes of conservation, communication and education.

In the past the SFSA has been seen as an organisation that only had an interest in the management of match angling in Scotland; an accusation that the executive recognises has had some foundation in reality. The SFSA will continue its vital role within match fishing in Scotland, however there will now be much greater emphasis on other areas as identified above.

It is self-evident that without fish in our seas there is no future for sea angling; without a forward looking, proactive conservation policy the future for fish stocks in our seas looks bleak. Therefore with immediate effect it has been decided to form a new committee dedicated to formulating comprehensive conservation policies, and campaigning in co-operation with other interested organisations, to have those policies implemented by the Scottish Executive, the UK Government and the EU.

As a first step along this road the SFSA seeks representation at the Scottish Inshore Fisheries Advisory Group (SIFAG), and recognition by the Scottish Executive as a significant stakeholder in inshore fisheries matters (as already recognised by the UK Government and the EU).

The SFSA looks forward to working with any other group committed to a future in which healthy sea fish stocks can be exploited in a sustainable manner, whether for commercial recreational or other purposes.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the SFSA conservation efforts or any organisation that feels we may have shared interests should contact Nick Noble.

Advanced Wound Care Technology From AcryMed Now Used To Reduce Nosocomial Infections

Advanced Wound Care Technology From AcryMed Now Used To Reduce Nosocomial Infections

New SilvaSorb Site Dressing Offers Improved Infection Control Around Catheters and Other Percutaneous Devices.

(PRWEB) July 5, 2005

PORTLAND, Oregon (PRWEB) July 5, 2005 – AcryMed, experts specializing in infection control and wound care technology today announced the availability of an advanced medical device that provides increased protection against infection around catheters, central venous (CV) lines, and other indwelling percutaneous devices. By combining its patented MicroLattice and silver antimicrobial technologies with an advanced design, AcryMed has developed SilvaSorb Site, an antimicrobial skirt for devices that penetrate the skin. This new product offers several advantages over other site protection devices including superior infection-fighting protection and a pediatric-safe formula.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hospital and healthcare-related infections affect more than two million patients each year – 250,000 of which are related to infections around catheters, intravenous lines and other insertion sites. Average treatment costs exceed $57,000 per patient incident.

SilvaSorb SiteÂ’s advanced design allows it to wrap snuggly around catheters, CV lines, tubes and other medical devices inserted through the skin. While other site dressings may leave gaps that serve as entry areas for infection, SilvaSorb Site dressing eliminates this vulnerability (figure 1-3). In addition, the dressingÂ’s thin, flexible construction allows it to lie flat against the skin providing a more secure, more comfortable protection.

SilvaSorb Site dressing also incorporates AcryMedÂ’s patented MicroLattice technology, which absorbs excess fluid and ensures the optimal moisture level around the insertion site. The companyÂ’s SilvaSorb technology uniquely provides a sustained release of a highly effective ionic silver antimicrobial, so the site protection device continues to kill infection-causing germs for up to seven days. Studies show that SilvaSorb Site reduces bacteria counts greater than 99.99%.

Pediatric Safe

Some site dressings contain potentially harsh antimicrobial chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), which may cause irritation and other hypersensitivity reactions to the skin. For this reason, these products warn against use in pediatric applications and potential danger in use on children less than sixteen years of age. However, the ionic silver used in SilvaSorb Site is both non-toxic and non-irritating. It is safe to apply directly over insertion sites and wound areas.

SilvaSorb Site is currently available in two sizes: a 1” dressing to go around small diameter devices up to 4 mm in diameter, and a 1.75” design to accommodate 5-13 mm devices such as gastric feeding tubes.

SilvaSorb Site is currently being distributed in the U. S. exclusively by Medline Industries. Medline is the nationÂ’s largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of health care supplies. The company manufactures and distributes more than 100,000 products to hospitals, extended care facilities, surgery centers, home care dealers and agencies and other markets. Medline can be contacted at www. medline. com or (800) 633-5463.

About AcryMed:

Since 1993, AcryMed has been at the forefront of breakthroughs in the areas of wound care and infection prevention. The companyÂ’s technologies and products are currently licensed by distribution partners and used today in hospitals, doctorsÂ’ offices, and clinics around the world. For more information on AcryMed, visit their website at www. acrymed. com or call (503) 624-9830.
