Tri-Life Health Offers NTR Addiction Recovery Center in Fort Collins, CO

Tri-Life Health Offers NTR Addiction Recovery Center in Fort Collins, CO

The Tri-Life Health Treatment Center is one of the most cutting edge drug and alcohol detox centers in the United States. With the opening of this NTR addiction recovery center, Tri-Life Health is able to offer a comprehensive program that treats the root of addiction, offering a more effective (and more comfortable) treatment than conventional methods.

Fort Collins, CO (PRWEB) February 23, 2009

Tri-Life Health (http://www. trilifehealth. com), a private medical office in Fort Collins, now offers an outpatient drug detox center that boasts an 80% recovery rate. Tri-Life's integrative program utilizes a modern and proven detox treatment called NTR, or neurotransmitter restoration, which treats the root cause of the addiction without replacing it with a new one.

A family member of an NTR patient described the treatment, saying: "The difference in (her) condition after the first treatment was nothing short of miraculous, and as she received subsequent treatments, her mental and physical health have continued to improve."

NTR treats the mind and the body using IV nutrients, antioxidants and amino acids to heal the receptors in the brain that have been damaged by drug use. This effectively eliminates the body's cravings for the drug's effects and returns the brain to a neutral state of clarity. Tri-Life Health combines the NTR treatment with biochemical balancing, the treatment of biochemical and genetic imbalances in the body, to restore the foundations of true health.

"When I discovered the NTR process I knew it was the perfect recovery solution to offer at Tri-Life Health. I am excited to offer this detox technique at a modern medical facility where people can restore hope and health to their lives…right here in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains," said Dr. Billica, president of Tri-Life Health, PC.

The experienced Tri-Life Health staff helps patients develop a long-term strategy for improved wellness, disease resistance, and relapse prevention. Addictions are tough to beat, but with the help of an NTR program, thousands of people worldwide have overcome their struggle with alcohol, methamphetamine, narcotics, cocaine, and other addictive substances.

The NTR recovery center (http://www. ntrdetox. com), which opened in September 2008, is a bright and welcoming private facility situated among ponds and pathways. It is on the perimeter of Fort Collins, the small city that Money Magazine called America's "best place to live."

The drug detox center offers a 10-day outpatient program that includes biochemical testing, neurotransmitter restoration (NTR), personalized counseling for relapse prevention, and supplemental therapies such as soft tissue massage and Far Infrared Sauna Immersion. Comprehensive program costs average between $7,500 and $9,200, depending upon the complexity of the individual's needs.

The NTR detox program is just one of the services offered at Tri-Life Health. Since 2001 the practice has focused on preventive and functional medicine, and uses an integrative approach that incorporates alternative remedies as well as Western medicine to achieve results. Tri-Life Health strives to uncover and correct the underlying causes of a patient's health problems to help him or her reach optimal health.

About Dr. Billica:

Dr. Roger Billica is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Medicine. During his 25 years as a practicing physician he has worked in family practice, emergency medicine, and has received international recognition for his pioneering efforts in the field of preventative and space medicine. Dr. Billica served as the NASA Chief of Medical Operations at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, from 1990 - 2001. Shortly after he opened the Tri-Life Health Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, he rigorously trained in the NTR process.

In opening the NTR treatment center, Dr. Billica hopes to continue making advancements in the field of functional medicine.

Maharishi University to Launch Renewable Energy System

Maharishi University to Launch Renewable Energy System

Solar panels to provide power to complete construction of new Sustainable Living Center

Fairfield, IA (PRWEB) July 22, 2010

On Thursday, July 22, at 2 pm, Fairfield's 'green' mayor, Ed Malloy, will flip the switch on the solar electricity of the Utility Cottage to use only renewable energy to power all the equipment needed to complete construction of Maharishi University of Management’s (MUM (http://www. mum. edu/)) new Sustainable Living Center. (SLC (http://www. mum. edu/slc. html))

The Sustainable Living Center will set a new standard for green building in America by being completely off the grid with respect to electricity, heating and cooling, water, and waste, and will be the first of its kind on any campus anywhere in the world.

On Earth Day, Whole Tree Posts and Beams were put in place, walls were tilted up, and roof trusses were placed on top of them. The entire shell of the building is now complete and is expected to be ready for occupancy in late fall.

Four Building Philosophies

The Sustainable Living Center (http://www. mum. edu/slc. html) features four green building philosophies. It has been designed to meet the Living Building Challenge, the highest standard for sustainable design and green building in the world. It will be one of the first three to achieve this. And it will be unique because it will be the first to combine that standard with the standards of LEED Platinum certification, Building Biology, and Maharishi Vedic Architecture.

Architects talk about 2030 as the year when all buildings will be built this way, sustainable and without a carbon footprint. But MUM is doing it now, with existing technologies and materials. “There’s no other building like this going up in the nation, or in the world for that matter, that we know of,” said nationally known green building expert Mike Nicklas, FAIA, founder and president of Innovative Design, the building’s Project Architects.

To date, Innovative Design has designed over 4750 buildings and more than 100 schools that use renewable energy solutions. Mike Nicklas is the Technical Architect for this project, and Jon Lipman, AIA of Fortune-Creating Buildings, is the Design Architect. Mr. Lipman was responsible for the initial programming, design work, rendering, and also for Vedic architecture and design throughout the project.

A Building That Teaches

The Sustainable Living Center (http://www. mum. edu/slc. html) will serve students in the university’s popular Sustainable Living degree program (http://www. mum. edu/sustainable_living/welcome. html). It will have classrooms, workshop, meeting room, greenhouse, kitchenette, research lab, recycling center, and offices, as well as east and west covered verandas and a porch on the north.

It has been designed as a building that teaches. In addition to embodying sustainability, it will allow students to monitor performance and energy efficiency and make adjustments.

“The Sustainable Living Center will be a living, evolving building,” said David Fisher, head of the MUM Sustainable Living Department, who helped plan the building. “The building itself is an educational tool, not just a passive one like most classroom buildings. It will provide participatory education where students will be continually adding to, or altering, the building and grounds as well as systematically checking its effectiveness.”

Off the Grid

The Sustainable Living Center (http://www. mum. edu/slc. html) will be completely off of the energy and utility grid. Every feature will exemplify healthy and sustainable green building — and will be geared to teaching those principles.

Construction uses all non-toxic materials from local sources, as defined by the Living Building Challenge requirements. All energy will be provided from solar panels on the building and from an outside wind turbine. Rainwater catchment will be the complete source of the building's water, with purification of drinking water via ultraviolet technology. Wastewater will be treated onsite using a constructed wetland. Natural day lighting will illuminate the entire interior. Geothermal technology will assist with heating and cooling.

An Embodiment of Sustainability That’s Feasible and Practical

This achievement is remarkable because none of the systems in the building are new or experimental, according to developer and construction manager Dal Loiselle. “The Sustainable Living Center is being constructed using ‘state-of-the-shelf technologies,’” he said. “This building proves that we can meet our environmental goals for our built environment with the materials, technologies, and green building protocols we already possess.”

A Community Oriented Toward Sustainability

Sustainability has become a major focus at Maharishi University of Management (http://www. mum. edu/), which has long used techniques for living in harmony with natural law, including the Transcendental Meditation technique and other Vedic technologies including Vedic Architecture. The University has filed a climate action plan to be 100% carbon neutral by 2020 as part of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment.

Fairfield (http://www. fairfieldiowa. com/), too, has taken a strong direction toward sustainability, hiring a sustainability coordinator and moving ahead with its Go Green Strategic Plan to become a sustainable city. In 2009, MSN. com named Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy as one of the nation’s 15 greenest mayors — alongside the mayors of New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, and Salt Lake City.

“Our city will benefit enormously by having this building on the campus of MUM as a demonstration of a new standard of design and will reinforce our commitment in Fairfield to changing the culture towards a more sustainable future,” Mayor Malloy said.

Industry-Educational Partnerships

Industry leaders in green technologies provide sponsorships

The Sustainable Living Center features four green building philosophies, is entirely off grid and has amassed a powerhouse list of leading corporate sponsors. These industry-educational partnerships showcase a new level of leadership, cooperation and sustainable capitalism unique to green building and sustainable development within the state, nation and world at large.

The Sustainable Living Center has benefited by in-kind donations from these nationally recognized leaders in green building materials: Serious Materials (high performance windows); Pittsburgh Corning (FoamGlas insulation); Gerdau AmeriSteel (rebar); United States Gypsum Corporation (Aqua Tough-paperless drywall); Green Building Supply; SpiderLath Inc (lath mesh to support exterior stucco); and GlobalWatt (PV panels).

GlobalWatt is excited about participating in this special project and is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor. MUM SLC will be one of the very first customers to receive PV panels off the line at their new Saginaw, Michigan manufacturing plant, a former automotive facility. “We are pleased to partner with MUM on this historic educational green building,” says GlobalWatt Director of Sales, Dave Slivinski.

Wege Foundation Grant

There seems to be a Michigan connection here. With GlobalWatt in Michigan, the Kresge Foundation is headquartered in metropolitan Detroit, in the suburb community of Troy, Michigan. They provided MUM with a Planning Grant, and possibly an upcoming Challenge Grant.

Another Michigan foundation, the Wege Foundation, provided a $100,000 grant to fund the Maharishi University of Management Sustainable Living Center to help it achieve the Living Building Challenge. Peter M. Wege, who built Steelcase, Inc. into the largest office-furniture manufacturer, is an environmentalist who founded the Wege Foundation to promote environmental activities primarily in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Steelcase, Inc. is headquartered. The board of the Wege Foundation made an exception and funded the MUM SLC in Fairfield, Iowa because it is a nationally significant sustainable building. This is the largest Foundation grant the Maharishi University of Management Sustainable Living Center has received to date. In appreciation for this gift the University will name the largest classroom in the Sustainable Living Center, the Peter M. Wege Classroom and Event Center.

The Building will also be a showcase for the public, and will feature meeting rooms, a real-time energy and renewable systems monitor, and displays of materials and building systems featured in the building to showcase partnerships with leading technologies and materials manufacturers. For more information please contact: Marco Sunseri @ 641-472-7000 x2449.

Memorial Hospital Selects Access Intelligent Forms Suite to Get Barcoded Forms into MEDITECH EHRs

Memorial Hospital Selects Access Intelligent Forms Suite to Get Barcoded Forms into MEDITECH EHRs

Illinois facility to replace existing electronic forms (e-forms) software system with Access IFS, which offers proven electronic forms management integration with MEDITECH Magic, 6.0 and Scanning & Archiving

Sulphur Springs, TX (PRWEB) October 11, 2010

When Memorial Hospital, located in Belleville, Ill. examined new ways to efficiently manage their hybrid patient record while progressing to a full electronic health record (EHR), administrators recognizedthe need for electronic forms software to complement its MEDITECH systems. After a thorough market analysis, the organization chose Access Intelligent Forms Suite (IFS), the world’s leading forms automation and management product.

“Creating efficiencies in the patient registration process is a key objective of our organization and will be a big satisfier for our patients,” said Jennifer Meinkoth, Memorial Hospital’s CIO. “Through use of Access’ IFS, E-signature and Image Portal, we’ll be able to push signed documents directly to our archive system – eliminating the scanning process for our registration staff.”

Memorial Hospital is working towards implementation of MEDITECH’s 6.0 Advanced Clinical/EMR system. As a result of their phased approach, patient registration and clinical departments will continue to deal with some paper documents, and need an efficient way to get paper-based patient forms into the electronic record. Access e-Forms Repository, part of Access IFS, is helping ease the transition by providing print on demand forms with barcodes and patient demographics applied.

“Using Access Electronic Forms Repository to print medical record forms with all required patient and form identifiers will allow us to implement scanning of critical documents at the point of care – when they are needed by the care providers,’ Meinkoth said. “For documents that continue to be scanned post-discharge, we can be assured the forms have all required barcodes – improving accuracy and productivity for the batch scanning process.”

By replacing pre-printed paper forms with print on demand e-forms, Memorial Hospital will reduce costs and storage needs in patient registration and on clinical floors, while reducing paper clutter for clinicians and registrars.

“While working in this dual paper/electronic environment, using technology like Access Intelligent Forms Suite to minimize the paper at the point of care will go a long way towards clinician adoption of our electronic record,” Meinkoth said.

Meinkoth’s team will also implement Access Universal Document Portal, which captures output from clinical devices and systems, standardizes and interfaces it into the EMR. Access UDP will auto-index clinical data in Memorial Hospital’s MEDITECH Scanning and Archiving (SCA) module, eliminating the need for manual indexing by HIM staff members.

“I’m looking forward to use of Access Universal Document Portal to incorporate results from some of our non-MEDITECH systems into MEDITECH’s SCA and EMR,” Meinkoth said. “We have a number of systems that have not been amenable to standard interfaces that we’ll be able to integrate in this way. The end result will be improved accessibility for all clinicians.”

Leeds Boasts Tallest Residential Building in the UK

Leeds Boasts Tallest Residential Building in the UK

The skyline of Leeds city centre is soon to be graced with a magnificent structure: a huge 54 storey landmark construction comprising luxury, contemporary residential and commercial units. The building is to be the highest residential building in the UK and one of the tallest in Europe, reflecting the city's importance as a major UK economic centre. Lumiere Leeds offers early-entry prices and a very favourable payment structure.

Easley, SC (PRWEB) February 22, 2008

According to the International Property Investment Network (IPIN), commercial and residential units at Lumiere Leeds (http://www. propertyshowrooms. com/IPIN/11080/Lumiere-Leeds. html) offer top investment potential, along with the contemporary luxury to be expected from this major UK city.

Nationally renowned developers, architects and interior designers, with impressive track records in projects such as Manyoo, Bridgewater Place, Manor Mills, Emperors Wharf, amongst others, have begun work on Lumiere Leeds' two buildings in the heart of the city centre: Tower 1, comprising 54 floors, and Tower 2 with 32 floors will be linked by a beautiful contemporary glazed "Winter Garden", reflecting the innovative design concepts of this state-of-the-art residential and commercial centre. The project is due for completion by the second quarter of 2011.

Homebuyers and investors (http://www. propertyshowrooms. com/) are choosing from Smartpads from 101,000 GBP (21m2); studios from 121,000 GBP (28m2); one bedroom apartments from 138,000-167,000 GBP (35-50m2) and two bedroom apartments from 212,000 GBP to 217,000 GBP (64-66m2), all of which offer encouraging rental potential of approximately 6.4 % per annum and projected capital growth of up to 10% per annum.

IPIN Product Manager, Mark Wilson, adds: "Payment options too, are favourable, with a reservation deposit of 1,000 GBP initially required, and 5% of the purchase price by the end of January next year. This is followed by a further 5% in January 2010, while the remaining balance of 90% won't need to be paid until completion in 2011. Lumiere is a versatile and manageable investment for many buyers wishing to take advantage of the time scale of the terms." A prime location and general widening of the affordability gap in the UK is expected to fuel the rental market in such key economic centres as Leeds. Another point for buyers to consider is that, after London, Leeds boasts the second highest level of annual growth in England, with the average Leeds house price now reaching £148,790 and attracting annual growth of 6.9%.

In addition to its contemporary residential units, Lumiere Leeds (http://www. propertyshowrooms. com/IPIN/11080/Lumiere-Leeds. html) offers 20,000 square feet of retail units, restaurants, coffee bars, as well as prime office spaces and medical practices. Bernardo Retana, Director of Investment Product and Development at IPIN, is impressed by the immense potential the project's location has to offer, "With such a central location, living and working at Lumiere Leeds will satisfy the modern trend for convenient city living, with everything right on the doorstep, while making the most of Leeds' excellent transport facilities in and around the city. Investors should also remember that Leeds is the major economic driver in West Yorkshire; it has an important and growing business sector which is set to propel the Leeds real estate market still further."

Strong household growth (estimated 44,000 additional households by 2026), a growing student population (increase of 35,000 students in the last decade) as well as healthy employment and earnings forecasts suggest a growing demand for residential property, particularly in new, prestigious city centre projects such as Lumiere. As a result, buyers are wasting no time in researching and reserving the best units left in this outstanding UK city investment opportunity.

All discerning property investors (http://www. propertyshowrooms. com/IPIN/) realize the importance of taking advantage of the most lucrative real estate opportunities as soon as they arise, before they become common knowledge. The International Property Investment Network (IPIN) operated by www. Propertyshowrooms. com helps all types of investors in their quest to access up-to-the minute information on the very latest investment opportunities in the worldwide property market today.

Plymouth Businessman Wins Skiing Accident Case

Plymouth Businessman Wins Skiing Accident Case

Plymouth businessman, and father of two, Graham Anderson who was tragically paralysed in a skiing accident in 2004 has today won a liability Trial in the High Court

(Vocus) November 17, 2008

Plymouth businessman, and father of two, Graham Anderson who was tragically paralysed in a skiing accident in 2004 has today won a liability Trial in the High Court (2008) EWHC 2790 (QB).

Mr. Anderson and family were on holiday in the French Alps resort of Puy St Vincent, where he was taken off piste by a skiing instructor. As he skied down a steep slope, he lost control, hitting a tree, and as a result of his injuries is now tetraplegic. His case alleged that the tour operator 'Snowbizz' was in breach of the terms of the holiday contract or common law duty of care.

The High Court judgment by Mr. Justice Foskett held that Mr. Anderson could recover damages for past and future costs of care and equipment, accommodation and therapy.

Andrew Warlow who is in charge of the Head and Spinal Injuries Unit at Wolferstans Solicitors who represented Mr Anderson commented, "The purpose of Mr Anderson's claim was to enable him to regain some level of independence. We are all thankful that the case has been resolved in his favour. Whilst we accept that any skiing holiday exposes you to the possibility of injury, with the limited skiing experience he had, Mr. Anderson should never have been taken down the slope where he had his accident which was not only off piste but too steep for him. As a result of this mistake his life has been irrevocably damaged and whilst compensation can do nothing to recover what he has lost, I hope it will make his future life easier."

Mr. Anderson stated, "It was an accident that should never have happened. The resulting spinal cord injury has left me severely paralysed with extremely limited levels of function. For the rest of my life I am confined to a wheelchair and need help with health care and many activities of daily living. My family life has been devastated by the accident."

"Having received excellent medical treatment and rehabilitation at the Salisbury Spinal Injury Centre and with determination and support I have been able to remain quite active and even return to work on a part-time basis. I now hope that it will be easier for me to lead a more fulfilling life and enjoy a better quality of life with my children. I also pledge support to Spinal Research in the hope that in future cases the effects of spinal cord injury may be diminished or eliminated."

"I am most grateful to the legal team at Wolferstans Solicitors, headed by Andrew Warlow and to the advocacy of Christopher Wilson-Smith, QC and Harry Trusted of Outer Temple Chambers."

At the close of the trial Mr Anderson was complimented by the late Richard Davies QC for the Defendant who said of Mr Anderson that "he was palpably a man of truth and honesty and had shown immense good humour and dignity in the way he had borne himself."

National cosmetic surgery provider The Hospital Group, has launched a series of new adverts to promote their outstandingweight loss surgery.

Lasting 30 seconds and airing in the daytime on channel five from the 15th November, the adverts focus on the incredible health benefits that bariatric surgery can give patients as well as the aesthetic benefits.

Reaching over 3.5million viewers, the advert features real life case studies Noelle Hambelton and Zoe Cummings, both of whom lost a substantial amount of weight through bariatric surgery with The Hospital Group.

A video of the advert can be viewed on The Hospital Group’s website and their Youtube channel.

The advert allows The Hospital Group to further build on their position in the UK and David Ross chief executive of The Hospital Group said: “We are really excited about our series of adverts which will help make people aware of the brilliant results bariatric surgery can have on their life.

“Being overweight can have a huge impact on your health causing high blood pressure, strokes, type 2 diabetes and in some cases severe depression. It can also impact a person’s self esteem which can cause their social life to suffer too.

“Although weight loss surgery is not an easy option, and the patient needs to work with the procedure, it can help people live a much healthier and fuller lifestyle as well as giving them back the confidence they lacked when they were overweight.”

“At The Hospital group our consultants ensure that, as well as having an absolute need for a gastric procedure, the patient understands that weight loss surgery isn’t a miracle cure and they would need to work with the band to achieve the healthier lifestyle they desire.

The British countryside is full of fantastic campsites with beautiful scenery and that all important healthy dose of fresh air, but as the day draws to a close and the tent is pitched, nothing beats a gentle stroll to a nearby country pub to sample the local brew.

This partnership still means users can search for their ideal camping or caravan site but with an additional feature that shows any pubs listed in The Good Pub Guide that are nearby as well as giving details of walking distance and a rating from the trusted guide.

Pubs need to be recommended by a range of Guide readers to become listed in The Good Pub guide and visited by one or more of the editorial team. New Drug-Free Treatment for Disease Often Works Where Nothing Else Will: From Yeast Infections to Cancer

New Drug-Free Treatment for Disease Often Works Where Nothing Else Will: From Yeast Infections to Cancer

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) was originally designed to improve and shorten the psychotherapy process, but as clients’ emotional conditions improved, so did their physical symptoms. After thousands of clinical results, the process has shown impressive results for a long list of physical ailments, including chronic yeast infections.

Gualala, CA (PRWEB) April 3, 2006

Gary Craig, the Stanford-trained engineer who developed EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), announces that the procedure has helped patients recover from chronic yeast infections without drugs or adverse side effects, as reported by medical doctors and their patients.

The claim is impressive, considering that 35 percent of American women using birth control pills have chronic vaginal yeast infections, and in men, jock itch and athlete’s foot are common. All three conditions are linked to Candida albicans, a naturally occurring yeast that creates problems when it grows out of control. In children, especially those who have been on antibiotics, Candida can cause thrush, a throat infection. Even the family dog’s chronic ear infections are linked to Candida.

Conventional medicine treats yeast and fungal infections with symptom-suppressing drugs, but these drugs can have side effects, and the condition often recurs.

Raul Vergini, MD, appreciates how difficult it is to eliminate candidiasis. When one of his patients couldn’t get rid of the condition he applied EFT. Modeled after acupuncture, EFT uses gentle fingertip tapping to release blocked energy along with stored emotions that contribute to health problems. Dr. Vergini tapped with the patient as they focused on her symptoms.

Two days later, her persistent itching, burning, discharge, and inflamed irritation had disappeared. A follow-up exam showed her to be clinically free from Candida. “She was also able to easily control, with EFT, the burning stomach pain she experienced every evening after dinner, especially when lying down,” Dr. Vergini says.

Los Angeles urologist Eric Robins, MD, blames unresolved emotional issues for 85 percent of all illnesses, especially chronic conditions that don’t respond to conventional therapy. “Some day,” he says, “modern medicine will realize this, and EFT will become a primary healing tool for physicians everywhere. It already is for me.”

Over 225,000 worldwide, including many health care practitioners, have downloaded Craig’s free EFT training manual from the official EFT website, which features reports and case studies on hundreds of illnesses, including cancer. The manual provides all the basics so that anyone can begin using it immediately. The manual can be downloaded at no cost from:

Broadband and Web Hosting Service Provider, XMission, Converts to Total Renewable Energy

Broadband and Web Hosting Service Provider, XMission, Converts to Total Renewable Energy

XMission, Utah’s largest independent broadband and web hosting service provider, is proud to announce it is completely operating on renewable energy.

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) November 19, 2007

XMission (http://www. xmission. com/), Utah’s largest independent Internet service provider offering broadband (http://www. xmission. com/business/dsl/index. html) and web hosting services (http://www. xmission. com/hosting/value/index. html), recently announced its upgrade to 100% renewable energy through Rocky Mountain Power’s Blue Sky program. This conversion makes XMission the first Internet service provider in Utah to purchase green power equal to its entire electricity use.

"As one of Utah's top consumers of electricity, I am proud that XMission is setting the example for other businesses. You can eliminate pollution from your business and be economically viable,” said Pete Ashdown, President and founder of XMission.

As a “Visionary” top-level participant, XMission purchases 2,826 blocks of renewable energy each month from sources such as wind, solar, and geothermal—enough to completely offset its carbon footprint. XMission’s Blue Sky purchase will result in the avoidance of 3,391 tons of CO2 emissions annually: the equivalent of planting an additional 1,332 acres of trees or not driving 7.26 million miles each year.

"Working with Rocky Mountain Power on their Blue Sky program has generated tremendous positive feedback from our customers,” said Ashdown. “Doing this makes business sense and I am proud to fuel the demand for clean, renewable, and safe power generation." According to Ashdown, XMission business and residential customers will not see any change in their service or increase in their bill due to the upgrade.

“XMission has always provided Podfitness. com with a high level of technical service. Their conversion to go green just gives us one more reason to stand behind them,” said Benjamin Edmund, Director of Network Systems for Podfitness. "In the health and fitness industry it's important to be environmentally conscious. Now, we can advertise that our website actually runs on 100% renewable energy."

With this recent upgrade, XMission has increased its renewable energy purchase by 412%. In addition to its participation in the Blue Sky program since 2006, XMission has implemented green standards in its own data center. These improved standards include upgrading equipment and increasing efficiency of power and cooling systems.

XMission also participates in Salt Lake City’s e2 Business Coalition, which helps Salt Lake area businesses reduce their carbon footprint and encourages earth-friendly business practices, such as recycling, efficient lighting, and other measures.

About XMission

XMission is one of the oldest and most experienced Internet service companies in the United States, and Utah’s leading independent Internet service provider (ISP). More than 26 Million Americans Suffer from the Neurologic Disorder of Migraine

More than 26 Million Americans Suffer from the Neurologic Disorder of Migraine

Some migraine and headahe mediations can cause addiction and become less effective over time.

Westhampton, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2006

More than 26 million Americans suffer from the neurologic disorder of migraine, according to the American Medical Association. No medical test exists for migraine, so the diagnosis is based on having some or all of the following symptoms:

A moderate to severe throbbing pain for four to 72 hours that is frequently on one side of the head (the word migraine comes from the Greek hemicranios, meaning half a head)

Nausea, with or without vomiting

Sensitivity to light and sound

Even normal physical activity tends to intensify the pain of migraine.

Many scientists think migraine is a vascular disorder caused by a tightening (constriction) and sudden opening (dilation) of the blood vessels in the head, neck or scalp.

Others believe that the throbbing pain of migraine is caused by an abnormal release of neurochemicals in the brain, such as serotonin or noradrenaline.

Migraine sufferers may be born with a hypersensitive nervous system that makes them prone to the headaches. Then, a lifestyle or environmental "trigger," such as a hormonal change or a certain food or chemical, can provoke an attack

Migraines can also be triggered by emotional factors, including not only negative feelings like frustration, anxiety or depression, but also by relaxation and positive feelings such as excitement. Someone can go through a very stressful time--no headache--and then the weekend or holiday comes and they can finally relax, and the headache comes on.

Prescription painkillers and synthetic drugs used to treat migraine and chronic headache may reduce the pain associated with these conditions, but do not address the causes.

This means that the person must continue to suffer and be dependent on the use of painkillers. The 'rebound effect' of many painkillers is well-known but seldom discussed in medical circles.

The chemicals in synthetic drugs can also accumulate in the liver, reducing liver functioning and overall health.

Many synthetic painkillers contain chemicals that can result in dependency, which leads to daily use of the drug and withdrawal effects when it is stopped. This is both expensive and very bad for one's health.

The effects of long term and regular use of some synthetic painkillers are not yet fully researched. Anyone who finds themselves needing to take prescription and OTC painkillers regularly should consult their health care practitioner for help.

MiGone Plus is a proven, effective 100% safe and natural herbal remedy that addresses the principle underlying causes of chronic headaches and migraines. MiGone Plus prevents migraines and chronic headaches. The ingredients of MiGone Plus are formulated to reduce cluster headaches, relieve muscle tension and spasm and stop tension headaches before they start. MiGone Plus can relieve the symptoms of arthritis; improve liver functioning and eliminate toxins. MiGone Plus contains ingredients which have been proven to reduce anxiety and tension, thereby promoting a tranquil and relaxed state of being; and other ingredients have also been proven to prevent menstrual cramps and alleviate discomfort related to PMS.

Personalized Health Information Now Available to Patients by HealthLat

Personalized Health Information Now Available to Patients by HealthLat

HealthLat offers chronic condition patients customized health information to assist in treatment option decisions.

Madison, WI (PRWEB) October 31, 2007

How effective is Lipitor for a man around 60, weighing 180 lb, who has GERD, is allergic to Aspirin, and currently has a saddle nose? Don’t know? Find the answer with HealthLat’s patent-pending tool, HealthLat Patient Safety Report Program available at www. healthlat. com].

No two patients are the same. Patients, especially those with multiple complications from chronic diseases, should use health information personalized to their specific conditions to make informed decisions.

Patients are going online for health information, but soon realize personalized information is not easy to find. Information sources including static web pages, forums, mailing lists, and social networking sites are not designed to treat patients as unique individuals.

The HealthLat Patient Safety Report Program (http://www. healthlat. com/overview) constantly pools health experience information directly from patients and makes personalized information (http://www. healthlat. com/buy) a reality. Updated information about a drug, surgery or medical test by many other patients of comparable age, sex, disease and other conditions who have experienced the treatment is organized in an easy-to-understand experience report.

Currently, the tool gathers information on over 5,000 kinds of treatments and includes more than 10,000 medical conditions and unlimited demographics for users to personalize. The Patient Safety Report Program is free to join. $5 buys a customized experience report, or a patient can share his or her own experience (http://www. healthlat. com/sell) with the Program and use earned credits to purchase an individualized report. Half of each sale’s proceeds are shared with patients who contributed experiences used in the report.

30% of the $2 trillion national health care costs relate to medical errors. Chronic disease patients are particularly vulnerable to treatment errors due to their multiple conditions and treatments. With this tool, patients are able to make more informed decisions. Lives will be saved and costs and dangers of treatment errors will be substantially reduced.

“We take the privacy of patients very seriously,” says Johnson Chen of HealthLat, “HealthLat gathers only minimal basic demographics, not social security numbers or date of birth. We comply with industry standards and protocols, and maintain the latest in secure technologies.”

About Us

HealthLat is an independent company. We are not representatives of pharmaceutical companies nor do we have any vested interest in your method of healthcare or drug choices. Gowlings Adopts RFID and Unifies Practice Management

Gowlings Adopts RFID and Unifies Practice Management

Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, one of Canada's Largest Law firms, has implemented a FileTrail RFID solution for file tracking and physical records management. The firm has leveraged FileTrail Web Services to integrate physical records management into their existing Practice Management System, and distribute functionality to the Firm's 2,000 employees.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 15, 2008

Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP has implemented a FileTrail RFID solution for file tracking and physical records management. The firm has leveraged FileTrail Web Services to integrate physical records management into their existing Practice Management System, and distribute functionality to the Firm's 2,000 employees.

As one of Canada's largest national law firms, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (Gowlings) has offices in all major business and technology centres across Canada. The 2,000 professionals and staff support the three pillars of Gowlings practice: business law, intellectual property and advocacy.

For many years, the Firm's IT staff have been providing strategic technology to ensure quality service to clients, ensure efficiency of staff, and standardize practices. The core component of this is REx Online.

REx Online is a browser application developed in-house that provides Gowlings professionals and staff with access to all matter-related information from a single interface. Since the initial rollout in 2001, REx has provided access to time & billing, task management, and document management information in a single matter-centric web platform.

In developing the REx platform, Gowlings leveraged its core software investments. Various software components provide key services that are unified in the REx GUI. For example, an OpenText DM engine and repository store all electronic documents, but these documents are served up within the user-friendly REx interface.

This year, Gowlings added another component to REx from San Jose, CA-based FileTrail. FileTrail provides complete physical records management automation, from labeling and tracking through archiving and disposition.

"In our search for an RM solution, it was critical for Gowlings to find a company whose vision and solution allowed us to leverage existing investments, but yet could take us to the next step in tracking technology," said Jason Mervyn, Director of IT Business Solutions.

FileTrail automates file tracking and records management in a highly configurable, browser-based GUI. FileTrail Web Services allowed Gowlings' IT staff to integrate tracking information into the REx interface in a matter of a few hours. In addition, FileTrail services were easily distributed via REx to professionals and staff, allowing them to view details and location history, and even request retrieval of files.

"With FileTrail, we have found a vendor that took the time to understand our vision, a product that was easy to integrate with our market-leading Practice Management System (REx Online) and a partner to guide us into RFID tracking technology," said Mervyn.

Gowlings stepped easily into RFID technology because of FileTrail's leadership in the RFID industry. FileTrail RFID (http://www. filetrail. com/WS_RFID/index. asp) automates check-in and check-out of files in both staffed and un-staffed file rooms. The security badge worn by staff and the RFID tag (http://www. filetrail. com/WS_RFID/rfsmarttag. asp) on each file support rapid check-out.

Gowlings is also implementing FileTrail's portable RFMobile™ (http://www. filetrail. com/WS_RFID/rfmobile. asp). The FileDetector™ (http://www. filetrail. com/WS_Clients/Quotes. asp#ID64) feature helps locate missing files from a distance without the need to thumb through stacks of files in every office. RFID commonly cuts the labor in periodic audits (http://www. filetrail. com/WS_Clients/Quotes. asp#ID79) by up to 85%.

San Diego Top Thermage Doc, Nasrin Mani, Hosts Latest Skin Tightening Preview

San Diego Top Thermage Doc, Nasrin Mani, Hosts Latest Skin Tightening Preview

Nonsurgical skin tightening is finding a stronger niche in the antiaging arena with the development of the new Thermage CPT system. San Diego's Nasrin Mani was selected by Solta Medical to present the new system hailed as a technology breakthrough. Dr. Mani, medical director of the prestigious La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic, gave invited guests a personalized presentation along with live demonstrations of the new features which make Thermage increasingly effective for firming lax and aging skin.

San Diego, CA (Vocus) December 5, 2009

Dr. Nasrin Mani, La Jolla’s popular Cosmetic Laser physician, was selected to help present the latest Thermage technology to the San Diego public. In a California stopover of the National Solta Illumination Tour, Dr. Mani boarded the custom-outfitted airstream and explained to over 150 attendees how the new Thermage improves results and comfort.

The tour crossed the U. S. in a classic silver Airstream equipped with the new Thermage and Fraxel systems for skin tightening and skin resurfacing. In each city, the most recognized Thermage physicians were hand picked to provide public educational presentations.

As a 4 time winner of the Thermage Pinnacle Award (the only doctor in San Diego with this distinction), Dr. Mani was a natural choice. At an invitation event held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, Dr. Mani and her La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic medical and support staff hosted attendees to a lavish catered affair to help roll out the newest skin tightening system, the Thermage CPT.

“This is fantastic!” enthused one guest. “I’ve been thinking about surgery and learning about Thermage pretty much has changed my mind. I can’t wait to set my appointment.”

On hand were the top level regional representatives from Solta, the parent company for Thermage and Fraxel along with Dr. Mani’s Registered Nurses Tammy Harrington and Mahshid Mani, Physician Assistant Shanan Vali, Office Administrator Wendy Angulo and Dr. Majid Mani who provided the Fraxel laser demonstration.

“Thermage has not yet enjoyed the reputation it deserves,” noted Dr. Mani in her presentation. “And that’s purely because this is not the type of procedure you can cut corners on. We’ve developed our own Thermage protocol with specific customized treatment for each patient. Skin thickness, location of laxity, skin integrity, age, skin health, lifestyle, diet – all these factors play into the success of Thermage. We counsel our patients in how to take care of their skin so the new results they get are results they get to keep.”

When asked in Thermage gave the same results as surgery, Dr. Mani replied. “For some people it can be close - IF they don’t have a great amount of laxity or redundant skin. For many, it’s close enough that they feel they can postpone previously-considered jowl or neck surgery."

When asked if Thermage was a one-time treatment, Dr. Mani responded, "A number of patients are impressed enough to plan on future treatments to 'keep the firm' going. Already many celebrities have routine Thermage because they don’t want to risk surgical alterations that leave them looking like someone else! And nothing can firm body skin like Thermage. There really are no other options that don’t entail scars or surgical risks.”

A special information desk was available for attendees who wanted to learn more about Dr. Mani’s latest injectable Signature Liquid Facelift with Sculptra, a collagen catalyst that spurs volume restoration by action of your own collagen. Dr. Mani has recently added this series-based procedure which can be used in combination with skin tightening, fillers and laser resurfacing for full aesthetic rejuvenation.

The special event was graciously covered by Gente Bien, San Diego’s dual language publication which covers charitable events, society and community leaders in the sister cities of San Diego and Tijuana.

Dr. Nasrin Mani is the Medical Director of La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic located at 1111 Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, California 92037. She is also a Board Certified Ophthalmologist specializing in vitreo-retinal surgery. Dr. Mani is frequently featured on San Diego’s TV 6 as a medical resource for aesthetic procedures. Visit http://www. LaJollaLaser. com for more practice information, procedure information and to receive newsletters and educational seminar notifications.

Making Sushi Magic at Home

Making Sushi Magic at Home

Preparing sushi is like sculpting fine art. Nobody knows that better than Chef Michael Young, entrepreneur and inventor of the all new at home sushi making device, rightfully named, Sushi Magic. As Young explains, "I had often admired the sushi chef's unique skills required to roll inside out sushi rolls and the finger dexterity required to mold Nigiri sushi (rice balls with wasabi and fish on top). I knew there had to be an easier way to make sushi at home, just like a sushi chef."

Oceano, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2004

Preparing sushi is like sculpting fine art. Nobody knows that better than Chef Michael Young, entrepreneur and inventor of the all new at home sushi making device, rightfully named, Sushi Magic. As Young explains, "I had often admired the sushi chef's unique skills required to roll inside out sushi rolls and the finger dexterity required to mold Nigiri sushi (rice balls with wasabi and fish on top). I knew there had to be an easier way to make sushi at home, just like a sushi chef."

Young envisioned a kitchen tool that had not been offered before, a roller that could accomplish the feat of rolling inside out sushi rolls with ease and a mold that would create perfect Nigiri sushi every time. "As a chef, I molded and rolled a lot of food products such as pastries, breads, seafood mousse and pates. From that experience I was able to begin engineering a unique product from the ground up.'

His vision first took the physical form of models made with clay and hardware supplies. He spent hundreds of hours building and testing molds and rollers that cumulated in a prototype, which streamlined the process of making sushi. Young recollected, "I was engineering at night and making test sushi by day. I made so much sushi I had to start giving it away. By the time the product was ready for manufacturing, testing the models had turned into small sushi parties with friends and neighbors." Sushi Magic is now manufactured from easy to clean food grade ABS plastic and silicone. With an animated voice, Young recalls, "Going through the invention process has been very rewarding and entertaining."

The value of Sushi Magic is that now anyone can make perfect sushi rolls and Nigiri sushi. People are excited about Sushi Magic because it is great for parties, entertaining, making healthy snacks, and eating sushi on a budget. Sushi Magic can be purchased online, or at kitchen supply stores, gift stores and seafood stores with the retail price at $29.95. In each Sushi Magic package, there is a sushi roller, a Nigiri sushi mold, a recipe book, a free sushi knife and access to free sushi lessons online. At SushiMagic. com, one can view a demo, purchase Sushi Magic, find sources for fresh seafood, and visit the sushi supply store.

New Lens That Closely Mimics the Human Eye Introduced In Michigan by TLC Eyecare and Laser Centers

New Lens That Closely Mimics the Human Eye Introduced In Michigan by TLC Eyecare and Laser Centers

An advanced replacement lens that more closely mimics the human lens will be introduced this month by Paul H. Ernest, MD, and other physicians at TLC Eye Care & Laser Centers in Farmington Hills. The AcrySof Natural Lens, which has the capability of slowing the progression of macular degeneration, filters out blue light that can damage the pigment cells of the retina. While the human eye filters out up to 80 percent of blue light waves, traditional replacement lens can only filter out ultra-violet rays.

(PRWEB) September 7, 2003

Farmington Hills, MI -- A more advanced replacement lens that more closely mimics the human lens will be introduced this month by Paul H. Ernest, MD, and other physicians at TLC Eye Care & Laser Centers.

The AcrySof Natural Lens, which has the capability of slowing the progression of macular degeneration, filters out blue light that can damage the pigment cells of the retina. While the human eye filters out up to 80 percent of blue light waves, traditional replacement lens can only filter out ultra-violet rays.

When a cataract is removed and an artificial lens is inserted, the replacement lens absorbs blue light, which can damage the eye, says Dr. Ernest, founder of TLC Eye Care & Laser Centers and an associate clinical professor of ophthalmology at Kresge Eye Institute, Wayne State University.

Dr. Ernest, one of the principal clinical investigators of the Natural Lens, has participated in lectures and workshops on the topic in Florence, Italy-Nice, France, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and elsewhere.

Because of this professional involvement, Dr. Ernest has been selected to by the manufacturer (Alcon Laboratories of Fort Worth, Tex.) to introduce the Natural Lens in Michigan.

Bill Graham, senior director for clinical sciences for Alcon Laboratories, said the AcrySof Natural Lens was introduced in Europe six months ago and has sold very successfully there. "The lens mimics the transmission curve of the healthy human lens of a patient aged 50-53," said Graham. "The lens is being introduced in Michigan because of Dr. Ernest's role as a principal investigator for Alcon."

"TLC Eyecare & Laser Centers will be one of the first in the U. S. to receive the AcrySof Natural Lens," says Dr. Ernest. "With this product in hand we are now in a position to offer rather remarkable improvements for our lens implant patients. Rather than waiting until the blue light waves are absorbed we can filter out these harmful waves before they reach the retina.

"The Natural Lens has a yellow chromophore bonded to the plastic that acts as a filter," adds Dr. Ernest. "This filter does not alter color vision, and does not alter the ability to perceive things under a dim light. There's no down side, only the up side of mimicking the human lens."

Dr. Ernest points to research done by Dr. John Marshall and Dr. Janet Sparrow who found that blue light may be a contributing factor to macular degeneration, a debilitating loss of central vision. "There are many factors that cause this disease. So we must realize that the Natural Lens is not a cure-all but its positive effects are very powerful," says Ernest.

"Ophthalmologists have undergone retrofits of blue light filters in operating microscopes to prevent retinal damage," says Marshall. "We now have the ability to protect our patients for the rest of their lives with the AcrySof Natural Lens."

Dr. Carmelina Gordon, a retinal surgeon at TLC Eyecare & Laser Centers explains that persons with the advanced stages of macular degeneration cannot focus, read, tell time, see faces, drive, write checks, or do other close up work. "It is not a reversible disease and actually is progressive," says Dr. Gordon. "Smoking and hypertension can aggravate macular degeneration and we know that diet and genetics also have a relationship to who gets this disease.

"A large scale study found that patients who had cataract surgery in one eye had a greater chance of having macular degeneration in that eye than in the eye that still has the cataract," says Dr. Gordon. "The yellowing of the cataract offers a protection against ultra-violet and blue light waves damaging the macula. The AcrySof Natural Lens filters most of the blue light.”

TLC Eyecare & Laser Centers have offices in Lansing, Jackson, Battle Creek, Chelsea, Ann Arbor, Farmington Hills and Kalamazoo Michigan. For information or an appointment, call the center at 1-800-551-7347 or visit the company's web site at www. tlcmi. com.

Top 12 Areas for Innovation through 2025: Personalized Medicine

Top 12 Areas for Innovation through 2025: Personalized Medicine

The first in a series of 12 briefs that shed light on the top areas for technology innovation.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 29, 2007

Futurists and analysts at the DC-based research and consulting firm Social Technologies this month released a series of 12 briefs that shed light on the top areas for technology innovation through 2025.

Personalized Medicine is the first trend in the series, explains Denise Chiavetta, leader of Social Technologies' Technology Foresight project.

"This includes the use of gene therapy, pharmacology and information technology to treat each patient individually," she explains. "The ultimate goal of personalized medicine is the use of a person's genome to move medicine from a reactive to a preventive stance, fixing a potential problem before it occurs rather than after it manifests."

Technology Overview

The author of this brief, Social Technologies futurist Christopher Kent, goes on to explain that looming changes in the medical and healthcare sector will give consumers more information about the interplay of disease and their own genomes.

"This will provide them the opportunity to take greater control of their healthcare and enable treatments tailored to specific genomes, which will thereby move medicine from 'one drug for all' to 'one drug per case,'" Kent says.

As the individual technologies that compose personalized medicine are further refined, Kent explains that new technologies are being developed and tested. These include:

Gene chips--The growing use of silicon wafers coated with sensors that detect DNA or other compounds is fostering an improvement in diagnostics by facilitating testing for the presence of certain genes and molecular biomarkers.  Bioinformatics--Using databases to analyze individual genomes, efforts such as Harvard University's Personal Genome Project seek to provide doctors with better information about a patient's genome to aid in more precise diagnoses.  Phenotype pharmacology--Continuing research into the human genome is yielding new insights into how the body metabolizes pharmaceuticals, and efforts are underway to isolate drugs that work for select groups with similar phenotypes or genetic profiles.

Challenges Ahead

While the idea of personalized medicine is expanding in medical and research fields, significant obstacles will need to be overcome before it can flourish commercially. These include:

Costs--At approximately $1 million per individual genome, gene sequencing is still too expensive and time-intensive for commercial applications. Reducing patients' upfront expenses for these technologies would certainly help to promote personalized medicine as patients seize the long-term cost-saving opportunities presented by this sector.  Technology--The computing power and time needed to sequence a genome are too great to permit use on a mass scale. New tools will be needed to make the analysis of how current pharmaceuticals interact with genomes commercially feasible, as well.  Entrenched interests--While it would ultimately save money for everyone involved, a shift to personalized medicine, with its focus on prevention, amounts to nothing short of a total reimagining of how healthcare is currently provided. For starters, many insurance providers do not currently cover preventive procedures. A move to personalized medicine would also force the pharmaceutical industry to restructure itself in order to take advantage of the desire for personalized drugs.

Forecasts

The evolution of personalized medicine will change the healthcare industry. In the process, it is likely that several "gamechangers" will emerge--aspects of new technology that will result in significant commercial or social impacts.

Some examples of potential gamechangers include:

Cheap sequencing--On the research side, one of the goals of the National Human Genome Research Institute is to reduce the cost of sequencing an individual genome to $1,000.  Fast diagnosis--A new generation of handheld gene scanners will revolutionize genetic testing for disease while cutting analysis time and, eventually, costs.  Availability of biomarkers--Better understanding of molecular biomarkers and the ability to use microarrays to identify biomarkers will also enable disease monitoring which is less invasive. For instance, a microarray chip could be used instead of a biopsy to test a patient's blood for the markers of certain cancers.

Irwin MitchellÂ’s Leading Business Crime Lawyers are Guilty of Relocating to Its Leeds Office

Associate solicitor Sarah Cleary and assistant solicitor Emma Young, from the Yorkshire regulation and investigations team, are now working full-time from the Queen Street premises.

(PRWEB) February 27, 2005

Associate solicitor Sarah Cleary and assistant solicitor Emma Young, from the Yorkshire regulation and investigations team, are now working full-time from the Queen Street premises.

Both were previously based at the firmÂ’s offices in Hartshead, Sheffield and worked from Leeds according to client needs. The decision to move follows an increasing number of cases arising from clients in West Yorkshire.

The regulation and investigations team specialises in high profile, complex fraud cases, involving organisations such as the Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise. It also has a strong regulatory practice, encompassing health and safety and environmental investigations, and acts for professionals, such as fellow solicitors, accused of crimes including money laundering and theft from client accounts.

Ms Cleary said: “We’re very excited about our move. Irwin Mitchell is already a serious player in Leeds and the surrounding area. Our team's presence will enable us to work more closely with existing clients spread over a wide area, including North Yorkshire, the North-East and Manchester. We also plan to increase our client base and offer advice to business people and other individuals in the early stages of investigations by the authorities.”

David Knaggs, Irwin Mitchell’s managing partner in Leeds, reacted to news of the transfer by saying: “Establishing a regulatory and investigations unit is an exciting development for our office, which will add strength to its existing portfolio of specialist services.”

Other members of the Yorkshire regulation and investigations team, associates Daniel Stowers and Paul Haycock and solicitors Blake Woodfield and Clara Hamon, will support the move working from Sheffield and Leeds, depending on client needs.

TV Star Heidi Montag's Plastic-Surgery Obsession Gives Beauty a Bad Name

TV Star Heidi Montag's Plastic-Surgery Obsession Gives Beauty a Bad Name

Dr. Jeffrey Raval of Denver’s Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics says most women can find beauty benefits in a safer, more economical and non-invasive way through the latest medical laser technologies now deployed in his clinic.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 23, 2010

Reality television star Heidi Montag, who admitted having 10 plastic surgery procedures done in one day and said she nearly died from an overdose of the pain medication Demerol administered as part of the treatment, has cast a negative pall on American women’s obsession with beauty. This 24-year-old celebrity has undergone breast augmentation, collagen lip injections, Rhinoplasty, brow lifts, ear pinnings, a chin reduction and reshaping, and more – all after the already attractive young woman was cast on the MTV series The Hills.

Denver plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Raval, MD, FACS, medical director of Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics, calls Montag’s course of action far too drastic and advises that the development of the latest in medical lasers he has recently deployed in his clinic offer most women economical, non-invasive beauty and anti-aging treatments with great results and far less risk.

“I’m a plastic surgeon, so I understand the desire to enhance one’s beauty, but Montag crossed the line,” says Dr. Raval. “In some cases, particularly for older women looking to combat aging and the youth culture, some plastic surgery may be the appropriate treatment. But for enhancing beauty, smoothing out wrinkles and overall skin rejuvenation, we now have medical laser treatments that restore, enhance and maintain beauty without the obsession. The Montag surgery media coverage has created a frenzy of inquiries, and women need to know that modern medicine offers a wealth of better alternatives.”

Dr. Raval says that modern laser technology under the guidance of a professional offers economical and non-invasive relief for such conditions as wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, sun spots and sun damage, freckles, broken blood vessels, and more.

“For most women, the issues of aging or skin conditions detracting from beauty are relatively minor – the desire to ease wrinkles or age lines, small facial discoloring from years of sun exposure, burst capillaries or rosacea,” says Dr. Raval. “We have a number of techniques employing state-of-the-art medical lasers that can restore a youthful appearance with minimal downtime and great results.”

At Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics, it all begins with the Visia System, an imaging technology that provides a clear, multi-dimensional portrait of a patient’s skin condition, both topically and subsurface. Using Visia, the highly trained technicians identify wrinkles and wrinkle depths, spots, blocked pores, color variations, UV photodamage, and even more serious conditions like potentially cancerous spots, and then recommend a complete facial rejuvenation regimen to enhance beauty and restore a more youthful complexion.

Depending on the unique situation of each patient, Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics offers a broad array of laser and combination services to achieve the desired results, such as:

FotoFacial – Using what is known as IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, technology, gentle light pulses target pigment imperfections to erase age spots, freckels, dun damage, redness, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Using a Diolite 542 laser, IPL is a great choice for patients with active lifestyles since the procedure requires no downtime.  Levulan Photodynamic Therapy, which incorporates IPL with a prescription topical solution called Levulan Kerastick. This is an advanced treatment for actinic keratosis (AKs), which are rough-textured, dry scaly patches on the skin that can lead to skin cancer.  The Ultimate Laser Peel, a skin rejuvenating procedure, is performed with the state-of-the-art Sciton Laser and includes a mix of laser treatments to remove brown and red age spots, eradicate fine lines and wrinkles, and provide for skin tightening. Down time is minimal, with three to five days of redness.   Sciton MciroLaser Peel is known as the Weekend Peel for its minimal dopwntime, removes fine lines and wrinkles and leaves youthful skin in its wake.  Sciton ProFractional is a laser technique uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.  Sciton CLEARSCAN™ vascular laser is the newest form of treatment to reduce veins and redness using infrared energy. ClearScan is being effectively used to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, vascular lesions and discoloration of the skin, particularly on the face and neck. This proprietary Sciton laser tip is designed to treat veins, telangiectasia, rosacea and redness.  The Sciton BBL (Broadband Light source) is the most versatile intense pulsed light system available. Used to treat sun-damaged skin, age spots and redness, the Sciton BBL features pulsed light to deliver solutions to sun-damaged skin and aging skin too. The treatment is non-invasive and requires no downtime. The BBL will gently heat up the upper layers of the skin where the heat is absorbed by the targeted areas to stimulate the skin cells to generate new collagen. This helps to rejuvenate skin, blending color and texture and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking.  SkinTyte™, based on the principle of selective thermolysis and using the award-winning Sciton laser’s BBL pulsed light technology, SkinTyte is a non-invasive procedure that requires no downtime. SkinTyte is recommended for patients who desire moderate, yet noticible improvement and tightening of their skin without having to undergo surgery. SkinTyte laser treatments deeply heat dermal collagen, a process that promotes partial denaturation and contraction of collagen. The heat also initiates the body’s natural healing process which encourages new production of natural collagen resulting in firmer skin.

In addition to these laser facial services, Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics also features services for hair reduction, tattoo reduction and vein reduction. Also, the clinic administers such facial fillers as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Perlane, such wrinkle reduction services as Botox injections, eyelash volume boosting procedures, and acne control therapies.

“We have many modern laser techniques in our clinic, and we always custom design a facial rejuvenation program for each patient,” says Dr. Raval. “We can accommodate any budget and any beauty need for a lifetime of youthful appearance.”

Dr. Raval is also a board certified facial plastic surgeon and ear, nose and throat surgeon who practices under the Raval Facial Aesthetics, P. C. banner, co-located with Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics.

For more information on the wide range of beauty and anti-aging services provided by Rocky Mountain Laser Aesthetics visit http://www. rockymountainlaser. com/ (http://www. rockymountainlaser. com/) and call 303-985-8520. The clinic is located in Denver’s noted Cherry Creek North shopping and dining neighborhood.
