Akaza Research Announces Free OpenClinica OnDemand™ for Select Small Research Studies
Summary: Akaza Research announces OpenClinica-OnDemand™, a hosted clinical trial software platform. OpenClinica-OnDemand™ will be a free service aimed at supporting small-unfunded clinical trials typically conducted by individual researchers or graduate students.
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) June 29, 2006
Akaza Research, the leading name in open source clinical trial software, is pleased to announce the introduction of a program to provide OpenClinica OnDemand™ as a free service to support a select number of trials. OpenClinica OnDemand™ is a hosted version of OpenClinica, the world’s leading open source clinical trial management software. This program is aimed at serving small clinical trials typically conducted by individual researchers or graduate students.
“We’d like to support those researchers whose trials are too small to justify an enterprise installation of OpenClinica,” said Cal Collins, CEO of Akaza Research. “Many of the miracles of modern medicine have been discovered because an independent researcher had a hunch that ultimately lead to a medical breakthrough. We would like to encourage this spirit of scientific discovery by making the most advanced clinical management tools available to these intrepid pioneers,” said Collins.
“We plan to grow this service organically,” said Collins, “Initially we will be limiting the service to one protocol per researcher and up to 100 subjects per study. This will allow us to support the largest number of researchers and studies.” Interested researchers should apply for the program at http://www. akazaresearch. com (http://www. akazaresearch. com). A panel of scientific advisors will choose the initial group of researchers. Akaza Research will expand the OpenClinica OnDemand™ system as resources permit. Graduate students and academic researchers with smaller projects are encouraged to apply for this program.
