According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 67% of adults are overweight or obese and the epidemic is being spread to the young generation. In 2001, The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry estimated that between 16 and 33 percent of children and adolescents were obese. With the number of people who are overweight or obese increasing in America, educating the youth and their families on the importance of maintaining healthy eating habits and a physically active lifestyle is crucial in reducing those numbers.
