THORP REED & ARMSTRONG, LLP ELECTS FIRST FEMALE PARTNER TO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE



(PITTSBURGH - September 26, 2000) --- Ms. Kimberly Luff Wakim, Partner in the Financial Institution & Services practice group and Chair of the firm's Recruitment Committee, was elected to the firm's five person Executive Committee. The Executive Committee serves as the firm governing body. Ms. Wakim is the first female partner to hold this position in the firm's 105 year history.



"I am pleased to have the support of my partners as Thorp Reed continues to be a leader in the 21st century," said Wakim. Ms. Wakim focuses her practice in the areas of bankruptcy, creditors' rights, commercial finance and transactions, commercial litigation and real estate. Ms. Wakim was graduated from West Virginia University, magna cum laude, in 1980 with a B. S.B. A., major in accounting. She received her J. D. degree in 1988 from West Virginia University School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board and was a tax-teaching assistant. Ms. Wakim is a frequent lecturer in the areas of bankruptcy and creditors' rights and related topics.



Ms. Wakim is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of West Virginia and is a Certified Public Accountant, certified in West Virginia. Prior to joining Thorp Reed & Armstrong, LLP, Ms. Wakim served a two-year term as a law clerk to The Honorable L. Edward Friend II, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of West Virginia.



Ms. Wakim is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and the Turnaround Management Association. She is also a director and the Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee for the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation and President of the Board of Directors of Dance Alloy.
