Mrs. Pennsylvania America Contestant Helps those with Fibromyalgia

Mrs. PA-America Contestant, Michele Paiva, of Downingtown, is holding a series of workshops targeted to different health issues; the first being on "Fibromyalgia" in mid-April

(PRWEB) March 28, 2004

On Tax day from 9-12, anyone who has Fibromyalgia or works with those who suffer from this condition, are welcome to attend a free workshop that will target the symptoms alternativly.

Michele Paiva, a certified myoskeletal therapist and yoga therapist, will be conducting the workshop. Paiva is also a contestant for the esteemed Mrs. America Pageant. She feels that the pageant is a great outlet for her causes, because it promote's women. As a member of the America family, she is able to reach out and use the pageant as a firm foundation to stand upon, to be a voice for others. She feels that women need to have additional health recources, such as alternative treatments. One way to get the message out to the healthcare system and to medical doctors, is to promote Naturopathic Doctors, Alternative healthcare and hope that all genres can work together to help a common cause; women's health and for this workshop, Fibromyalgia.

In her experience with patients and clients, she has found that alkalizing the body has a profound effect on the symptoms of this sometimes debilatating condition.

Although medical doctors often prescribe anti-inflamatories and mood enhancers, and often do suggest exercise, Paiva feels that this is not enough, and may possibly mask or worsen the symptoms long term.

"Any drug you take has side effects. Any drug you take can considerably alter brain chemistry. Also, any drug that you take, ends up being just another byproduct that needs to be brought through the body and excreted; many times that means some residue ends up in the liver and lymphatic system, thus creating more toxins, and possibly, more symptoms" said Paiva.

My goal is to help people manage symptoms. Even though I personally feel that over 80% of the diagnosed people are misdiagnosed, is not for me to say professionally. I can however, show all people that stress chemicals do create symptoms such as those in Fibromyalgia and other myalgia conditions which are related.

Often, when I work with a client one on one, we look at what happened in their life from six months to a year ahead of the onset of symptoms, and from that, we work backwards. We often can see where the body just said, "enough" and we can see how we can reverse many symptoms quite easily." said Paiva.

One major remedy is to check the ph. of the body. When the body ph. is off, all functions are not a top working condition...so making sure the ph is correct, you are doing a huge justice to your body.
