Home Run Against Drugs has a unique assembly and/or community program for children (ages 4-10) that emphasize self-esteem, goal setting, nutrition, exercise, and the value of being alcohol, tobacco and drug free. ÂHomer is the mascot for the Home Run Against Drugs Program. Homer has made appearances at major events such as: Major League BaseballÂs ÂBig League ChallengeÂ, the College World Series, All Star Pepsi, The Inner City Games and more. Homer has even been on ESPN.
As part of the assembly program, each child receives a gift, ÂHomer & MeÂ, the worldÂs first personalized childrenÂs book designed to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The story features Homer taking the child on a storybook tour of a big league baseball game. Along the way they ride on the ÂHome Run ExpressÂ, a special bus that teaches the child about staying drug free and healthy along with helpful tips. Each book is personalized making the child the Âstar of the story. The personalization of this book also empowers the child with the desire to read.
We work with Parent/Teacher groups, civic organizations and companies who want to present the Home Run Against Drugs program to children and place the book, ÂHomer & MeÂ, in their hands. This program is available at no cost and is supported by grants, corporate sponsors, individual contributions and P. T.A./P. T.O.Âs.
