Announcing Capability (Cp & Cpk) Tools for Excel
KnowWare International Inc. announces the addition of a capability analyzer to the QI Macros SPC (statistical process control) software for Excel. Manufacturers seeking to measure the quality of their product can now analyze up to eight characteristics for a single part simultaneously. Manufacturers seeking to measure the quality of their product can now analyze up to eight characteristics for a single part simultaneously. KnowWare has also created a standalone dashboard including control charts, histograms and a normal probability plot for each of the eight characteristics.
Cp is a measure between 0 and 2 that evaluates how well the manufactured parts will fit between the customer's specification limits. A Cp measure of 1.0 equates to 3 sigma; 1.33 equals 4 sigma; 1.66 equals 5-sigma; and 2.0 equals the infamous Six Sigma. Cpk measures how well the product is centered between the limits. The Cp and Cpk tool also measures Pp and Ppk which are measures of total process performance.
The QI Macros are an add-in for Microsoft Excel that automate all of the charts and diagrams required for statistical process control (SPC) and Lean Six Sigma. There are over 70,000 registered users. The QI Macros are used by over 2,700 hospitals and medical centers to hold down costs and increase health care quality. The QI Macros consist of three parts:
