Bald Men: Protect Your Head Year 'Round--The Common Place for Men to Get Skin Cancer is on the Scalp

May is Melanoma Awareness Month. Bald Guyz grooming products has created Bald Guyz Sunscreen SPF 30+ specifically for bald men.

Manalapan, NJ (PRWEB) April 27, 2006

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, men account for more than half the estimated 59,580 newly diagnosed melanoma cases in 2005. But more importantly, men are two times more likely than women to die of this dreaded disease.

Bald men need to understand that an unprotected scalp carries serious health risks. Eighty percent of skin cancer occurs on the head and neck, notes David Goldberg M. D., Vice President of the Skin Cancer Foundation. Men should wear an SPF of 15+ to prevent both skin cancer and a leathery looking scalp, according to the Melanoma Cancer Center.

Bald Guyz® Sunscreen SPF 30+ has been specifically created by a bald man, for bald men. It is designed not to “sweat off” and is infused with antioxidants and moisturizers to help protect the head, and is exclusively formulated for bald men’s scalps.

Bald Guyz conducted an informal study of approximately 2,000 bald men. Focusing on the types of products these men use, as well as the products that would interest them, the survey found that approximately 74% of bald men only use a sunscreen during the summer months, while 18% do not use sunscreen at all, but 8% wear a hat when going out in the sun in the summertime. The majority of bald men surveyed did not use a sunscreen at all during the fall or winter months. When asked if the sunscreen they used protected their heads, about 64% noted that it does not stay on and often runs into their eyes causing a stinging sensation.

Melanoma associated with sun exposure is currently the most serious form of skin cancer. Unfortunately, a bald scalp is more exposed to the sun and easily subjected to harmful UV rays. Melanoma spreads increasingly faster than any other cancer and has more than doubled in the past 20 years, according to the Melanoma Cancer Center.

Bald Guyz will be working with the Skin Cancer Foundation to help increase awareness of preventive measures to minimize the risk of this potentially deadly disease.

Available in drugstores and supermarkets nationwide, Bald Guyz products include Sunscreen, Moisture Gel, Wash & Shampoo, and Head Wipes. Suggested retail prices range from $4.99 - $9.99. Visit www. BaldGuyz. com.
