Gala September 28 New York City Benefit Cocktail Party & Book Signing to Aid New York Special Olympics and USA Triathlon Association
New Book capitalizes on Product Placement like TV and Movies
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) September 18, 2005
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM a ground breaking gala benefit cocktail party and book signing event will be hosted by the Grand Hyatt New York. (109 East 42 Street/Park Avenue at Grand Central Station, NY, NY 10017)
For the literary world, the event is a first of its kind celebration of the launch of a new novel mixed in with a charity event and product placement for several major businesses. The book, Shadow Warrior is by J E Mayer. (AuthorHouse, 2005) and is available on the publisherÂs website (www. authorhouse. com) and via all major online book retailers including Amazon. com and BarnesandNoble. com in paperback format for $14.95.
The event entitled, An Evening into Shadow will benefit the New York Special Olympics and the USA Triathlon Association. (Two of the main characters are triathletes.)
The Grand Hyatt New York is generously hosting the cocktail reception, Ketel One Vodka is creating an elaborate Ice Sculpture Martini Bar with the book cover prominently displayed and the bookÂs publisher, AuthorHouse, will provide copies of the book for each guest. The Grand Hyatt New YorkÂs executive Chef Anthony Arbeeny will be serving exquisite hors dÂoeuvres including Grapes filled with Foie Gras, tuna tartare, honey lavender for the eventÂs wide cross section guests including international and New York celebrities, literary luminaries, society swells, and trendsetters.
Ketel One Vodka and the Grand Hyatt are two of the products that are prominently mentioned in MayerÂs novel, Shadow Warrior, a thriller that has New York City as its primary setting. It is a tale of romance, intrigue and drugs. Another business mentioned in the book, Porta Bella Menswear, (50 East 42nd St. NY, NY) a chain of clothing stores across metropolitan New York, has also been an early and eager supporter.
ÂItÂs incredible how enthusiastic our sponsors and charities have been, stated Mayer. ÂI contacted the Hyatt first and they jumped at the chance to help promote the book. Actually, it was their public relations manager, Kira Kohrherr, whose idea it was to turn my simple suggestion of a book signing into a charity cocktail party. Once the Hyatt was onboard Ketel One graciously agreed to provide the Ice Sculpture Martini Bar. Everything snowballed from there. The USA Triathlon Assoc. has even taken the book on as a special project!Â
ÂThis is a bit of a Cinderella story. I put all these goods and services into the story to create vivid images for the reader, little did I know I would be breaking new ground in the promotion of the book, added Mayer. ÂWe are planning to host similar charity in other locations mentioned in the book including Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and offer up participation to several other companies in the book such as Nike, Oakley, Jaguar, and Louis Vuitton.Â
Tickets for the event are $50 in advance and $65 at the door. Call the Special Olympics office for tickets: 1-212-661-5217. Complimentary media invitations are available by calling the Steven Style Group at 212-465-1290.
