How does laughter help a person through the divorce process? Laughter is a natural coping mechanism. It relaxes muscle tension and causes release of endorphin-like substances in our brains that provides natural pain relief and a sense of well-being. After a good laugh, most people feel less anxious and stressed. Laughter works by providing a Âtime-out from worries, and this brief respite often helps us shift perspective so we see situations in a new way. Could this be helpful? I would think so, especially when you have your day in court with your soon to be ÂexÂ.
Is that possible? Can a person actually laugh their way through a divorce? According to Joanie Winberg, a Certified Business/Life Coach and Certified Laughter Coach, who says while laughing, the answer to those questions is a resounding ÂYESÂ! Hahahaha!
Divorce is an extremely difficult time in a personÂs life as well as an emotional roller coaster. Winberg has been divorced for 10 years and having gone through the divorce process, she remembers it being anything but a laughing matter.
The National Center for Health Statistics in the United States reports the marriage rate at 7.8% per thousand total population and the divorce rate at 4.0% per thousand (over 50%). To give back and help others achieve a life with more ease, less effort and lots of laughter (and maybe less divorce), Winberg conducts laughter workshops that consist of fun, laughing sessions combined with tools and techniques attendees can learn and implement immediately into their daily lives. Changes occur almost instantaneously!
