Universal Nutrition, a bodybuilding supplement and sports nutrition manufacturer, signed an exclusive sponsorship contract with Alexander Fedorov, an athlete from St. Petersburg, Russia.
Alexander Fedorov is an up and coming professional bodybuilder who made his breakthrough appearance winning the 2003 European Championships. Prior to becoming an absolute European champion, Fedorov placed first in the category of men over 80 kilograms (176 lb.) in the 1998 Junior World Championships, won the junior division of the 1997 German Open Championship and was victorious in numerous Russian bodybuilding contests. Despite a serious pectoral tear in September 2003, Fedorov competed in the Grand Prix of Russia on November 5, 2003. Then only an amateur, Fedorov received a special invitation to compete and placed an impressive third after Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler took the first and second places respectively.
Although Alexander Fedorov is still recovering from a serious surgery to repair his torn pectoral, he will be competing in several competitions this year including the 2004 Grand Prix of Russia. At the age of only twenty-six, Alexander Fedorov is already an experienced competitor with his sights set on the American bodybuilding scene. Several months ago Fedorov received a special invite from the IFBB to compete in the biggest show in the sport, the 2004 Mr. Olympia. It is still not clear whether he will be competing or not due to his recovery from pectoral injury.
