SURFSIDE, Fl. (PRWEB) April 13, 2006 -–

Turnberry, Ltd. announced today a joint-venture partnership in which it will assume the managing partner role in the development of the Beach House luxury oceanfront condominium near Bal Harbour Shops. The development is scheduled for groundbreaking this summer.

Aventura, Fla.-based Turnberry will oversee and co-develop the project with Lynx Strategic Development, the developers that conceptualized and created Beach House.

“We’re tremendously excited about this opportunity as we’ve admired Beach House and its trendsetting Richard Meier design for quite some time. We believe that Lynx, our joint venture partner, has done an outstanding job” said Turnberry President/Chief Operating Officer Bruce Weiner. “While Turnberry continues to expand in markets such as Las Vegas, Houston, Washington D. C. and The Bahamas, we also place great emphasis on remaining an integral part of the South Florida landscape. Beach House will be a fantastic development for us to create right in our own backyard.”

Turnberry will co-sell the project with Prodigy International. “We are very impressed with the strategy and price level achieved by Prodigy International in selling this project” – said Turnberry Vice President Jim Cohen, who oversees sales and marketing for Turnberry Ocean Colony and now will also head up Beach House. “It made the deal very attractive to us”-he added.

Lynx President Ian Ludmir said the “stars had aligned” when Turnberry decided to participate in the project. “This is incredibly rewarding as it validates our business plan and allows us to focus on the creation of our other real estate projects” he said. “It was always our intention to bring in a full-service development firm after the initial stages of pre-sales and pre - development and we’re thrilled to find such an ideal partner in Turnberry.”

Prodigy International President Rodrigo Nino said Turnberry Beach House now features the ultimate collaboration. “The fusion of Richard Meier’s vision and Turnberry’s expertise will bring Beach House to an even higher level ” he said.

Featuring more than 200 linear feet of oceanfront property, Beach House residences will offer unobstructed, sweeping panoramic views amidst private landscaped gardens of lush palm groves and tropical plants. Designed by the award-winning Meier, the 12-story glass building will contain 101 one-, two-, three - and four-bedroom residences with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, expansive terraces, and the latest in smart home technology including wireless access and an integrated control system for home appliances and electronics.

A full array of luxury amenities await Beach House residents, including separate Ocean and Rooftop Sky pools, private beach club with cabanas and lounging areas, a state-of-the-art health club, a wine and cigar lounge and spa with sauna, steam and treatment rooms.

The development will be created on the site of the Beach House Hotel, 9449 Collins Avenue in Surfside. The developer expects to demolish the hotel and begin construction this summer.

Led by Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Soffer, Turnberry, Ltd. has built numerous South Florida landmarks, including Turnberry Isle Resort and Golf Club and Porto Vita. Currently, Turnberry is completing development of the sold-out, $650 million Turnberry Place, the first high-rise condominium community to be built overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, and will soon break ground on Turnberry Tower Arlington, the first ultra-luxury high-rise in the Washington D. C. area. Additionally, the company is creating upscale condominium-hotel towers at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach and Atlantis, Paradise Island in The Bahamas.
