Canadian Store Launches Green Baby Products; Recent Scares Prompt Parents To Seek Safer, Eco-Friendly Alternatives
Kai Kids was born out of a couple's frustration at not being able to find healthy, earth-friendly products for their children. Their new online store features eco-friendly, sustainable baby, toddler, maternity and nursing clothing and accessories. The boutique's clothing lines are hip and stylish, soft and comfortable, as well as being easy on the earth.

Recall after recall -- toys, baby bottles, water bottles -- have panicked Canadian parents and made them take a closer look at the products their families use every day. A new Canadian company, Kai Kids, is helping meet the growing demand for safer, healthier, and earth-friendly baby products.
"Our children are surrounded by too many chemicals in their day-to-day life," says Peter Chin, who recently launched Kai Kids at www. kaikids. com selling organic, non-toxic, sustainable baby clothing and products. "Toxic substances are in their toys, clothing, sippy cups, bedding, even in regular baby shampoo!"
Chin started www. kaikids. com with his wife, Nancy DeHart, because after their first son Kai was born three years ago, they had a hard time finding healthy, organic and earth-friendly baby products.
Based in Toronto, www. kaikids. com sells major brands from the U. S, U. K. and Canada.
"We've carefully researched suppliers to find stylish, affordable, non-toxic clothes and baby products that we use with our own boys," Chin says. The company aims to sell as many Canadian brands as it can, and ensures all of its suppliers are either Fair Trade or manufacture their products ethically.
Kai Kids' product lines include Klean Kanteen stainless steel sippy cups, and BornFree's BPA-free, safe plastic baby bottles, plus bamboo and organic cotton baby bedding, towels, clothing, non-toxic toys, and chemical-free organic skincare.
"We've got everything you need to raise your baby green," says Chin.
A bestseller is a line of organic cotton T-shirts with hip, funny slogans such as: "My dad recycles more than your dad."
The store also caters to mothers, selling funky, sexy, and comfortable eco-friendly maternity and nursing wear.
Kai Kids is involved in the community, donating prizes for charitable events and a percentage of its revenues will go to onepercentfortheplanet. com, an organization that channels money from sustainable businesses to environmental causes.
Kai Kids will soon add a blog on green family living and a gift registry to its website.
