James L. Horrar, president and CEO of QHR, today recognized QHR client King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, Miss., for achieving the second highest HCAHPS scores in the nation in the first round of the national patient satisfaction survey results. Ninety-eight percent of KDMC patients said they would definitely recommend the hospital to friends and family members.
The HCAHPS, or Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, survey is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology for measuring patients' perspectives of hospital care. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has asked hospitals to report this information so that consumers can make valid comparisons across all hospitals.
"QHR salutes King's Daughters entire staff for making patients the top priority," said Horrar. "Having patients recommend the hospital to friends and family is more effective than any advertising campaign."
Hospital CEO Alvin Hoover noted, "We focus on patient-centered care, and it's great to have an objective confirmation of our success. Our hospital staff is committed to meeting the needs of patients, as part of our culture."
