Mobile Edge Uses Renewable Sources for Laptop Case Material: DuPont™ Sorona® Helps Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 63 Percent
Mobile Edge will roll out a new material introduced by Dupont called Sorona® which is derived from corn. Mobile Edge plans to place all of their existing products using ballistic nylon with this new Sorona® material.

Mobile Edge], the industry leader in innovative and stylish laptop computer carrying cases and travel accessories is the first to utilize DuPont’s™ new polymeric material ‘Sorona®’ in the manufacture of laptop cases. This pioneering corn-based material is made from renewable resources that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent when compared to typical Nylon or Polyester (PA6/Nylon6) production.
Derived from corn kernels, Sorona® material contains 37 percent of renewably sourced ingredients by weight. Production of Sorona® requires 30% less energy than production of an equal amount of traditional nylon reducing our dependency on oil and petrochemical feedstock. The fibers are soft and extremely stain resistant with high strength and stiffness qualities.
