Mayne Pharma is one of the world's leading generic injectable drug manufacturers. Its principal manufacturing site is in Australia, although the company's head office is now in the UK. The company has other manufacturing sites in the USA, Germany and India. The company used to be part of the Mayne Group, which also undertakes drug wholesaling and provision of other health services. Mayne Pharma was demerged in November 2005, and the remaining Mayne Group was renamed Symbion Healthcare. The company has a number of collaborative agreements with companies around the world. IVAX has various deals regarding the distribution of paclitaxel, one of Mayne's key products. A number of agreements have recently been signed with Indian companies, such as Orchid, Strides Arcolab and Zydus Cadila. Mayne is also involved in the distribution of innovative products. A key element of Mayne Pharma's new strategy is to acquire niche marketed or close-to-market proprietary products in the oncology field. Mayne is involved in the biosimilar field, through its 2005 distribution deal with Pliva. This currently covers only one product, however: G-CSF, which has yet to reach the market. The original deal also included EPO, but this was dropped in 2006.
