They may look gorgeous and sexy but the re-emergence of stilettos as the new latest fashion item could be the trigger to causing you a wide range of health problems, with ankle, leg and back pain being the least of your worries.
Even acupuncturists are joining other health and fitness professionals in advising against the latest fashion. A top acupuncturist is warning that half of the energy meridians that run through the body will be affected.
Respected London acupuncturist Tim Colman said, “They may be fun, but they are also a recipe for disaster for your health”
Sales of stilettos are expected to continue to rocket with the launch of London Fashion Week. With models and celebrities alike parading around in shoes, some of which will have five inch heels.
But Tim warns, “The resulting compression and tilt of the feet damages some of the most powerful points on the whole body”.
He explains, “The pathways of the meridians often ascend the entire length of the body. It shouldn’t surprise people that such shoes will alter your posture and balance and cause ankle, leg and back-pain. But those are only the obvious problems”.
“There are over thirty acupuncture points on the feet alone, and often these have very profound and powerful actions. Compression of the feet and toes will block the free flow of Qi (your life-force) and blood, and so completely disrupt your whole body’s health“.
“Two of the major meridians affected for example, are the Liver and Spleen. The Liver meridian has a huge influence on menstruation, infertility, stress and migraines, whilst the Spleen meridian has a huge affect on weight control, anxiety, and symptoms such as IBS and varicose veins.
Tim further comments, “One dramatic repercussion of damaging your feet, can be seen when I help with breach births: The meridian that ends on the little toe, passes through the uterus, so If I gently warm that point with a herb called moxa, the baby inside the womb will gently turn. If the toe is misshapen the influence of the point is disrupted and the process may be ineffectual.
In conclusion Tim states, if you are going to wear them, wear them from the car to the restaurant, please be gentle and take care of your feet, they may be more useful than you realise!”.
