VAT ADVISORS CHOOSE HANSA
11 June 2002 - Liaison VAT Consultancy Limited, has placed an order with Hansa Business Solutions valued at £80,000 for a full suite of Hansa Financials - integrated job costing, financials and business management software applications.

The Hansa job costing and financials solution was selected for its mobile computing functionality, as 30 of LiaisonÂ’s 55 staff work remotely. This enables individual employees to view and work on the system on laptop computers using a mobile phone dial-up connection from customer sites, without having to use any third-party communication tools and yet maintaining the high speed of the software. The Hansa Financials software solution will provide LiaisonÂ’s nationwide team of VAT advisors with shared access to real-time business information whilst servicing clients on site.
Liaison VAT Consultancy is the UKÂ’s largest independent provider of VAT advice to the public and private sector. It offers a range of services including VAT compliance and health checks, VAT project work, training and helpdesk services. Clients include many NHS bodies, private hospitals, government agencies, education establishments, property companies, charities and the professions.
Hansa Business Solutions undertook a high level of specification and customisation of certain aspects of the software in order to provide Liaison with comprehensive reporting facilities to assist project management. It is now able to easily track the accuracy of quotes, profitability of individual projects, and productivity levels within each area of the business. Liaison can also track each new project from initial sales visit to completion and identify slow-moving projects.
Liaison previously used SunSystems as its accounting product, along with a CRM package from Goldmine, which made real-time integration and data sharing very problematic. With the growth of the business, manual data entry between disparate systems became a cumbersome process, and the complexities of relating financial information with the rest of the business operations was no longer tolerable.
Jon Kelly, managing director of Liaison, explains, “Previously we were operating with a whole array of software products, when what we really needed was an integrated system. We dismissed the idea of interfacing various new packages with our existing products, as this still could not offer the level of functionality we were looking for, and it was also very expensive. In contrast, Hansa Financials delivers a single software solution within one underlying database, which offers true integration and transparency of data.”
Kelly continues, “With a centralised database of information as presented by Hansa Financials, we know everyone is working from the same information and it is much easier to manage all of our data. We can now save significant amounts of time by eliminating the duplication of work, which enables staff to re-deploy their time to more important tasks. As the consultants become familiar with the system, their competency at generating really meaningful management information improves. This gives us the ability to plan more effectively for the future and enables us to have far greater business control.”
Liaison is looking to further extend the benefits of Hansa Financials during the next 12 months by launching an extranet using HansaÂ’s webshop. The extranet will provide a value-added service to clients allowing them to see account details, the status of projects and other personalised information relevant to their business.
